Second time watching...solid job documenting your bow choice. I had the elevate and SS34 as my top two bows. I ended up with the SS34. Run it on the performance mod. Still crazy smooth! 70lbs draw, 30 draw length, running a 471 gr arrow., Running in the 280's fps.

For one: The let off is Adjustable on all those bows. You need to shoot it, shoot it.. Multiple reps and see what your doing. Blind folded doesnt help anything..

Great video man, that's how it should be done when choosing a bow. I would have liked to see Elite and Hoyt in there. Can't go wrong with the Athens though. I hunted with the Athens Vista 33 2 years ago and it performed really well. Thanks for the review!

Elites have been really hard to get in stock. I would have liked to use one too, but Brandon wasn’t able to get one in. Brandon also isn’t a bout dealer, I tried to get someone to lend me an RX7 for the video but wasn’t able to make it happen in time. -Mark

Very interesting vid ! I'm a archery tech that walked away from archery for family reasons in 2010 . These are a few things I've noticed as I'm contemplating getting back in the industry . First , what was considered a short bow 13 years ago is now often called long . To me , the most important thing about axel length is string angle at full draw at the drawlength the shooter shoots . This is NOT always contributed to axel length in modern bow design , in contrast to the designs 13 years ago. Cam size and cam position at full draw can make drastic changes in actual string angle . The second thing I've noticed is bow weight . They average a pound heavier today . A 4.5 lb bow is considered light today . Similar sized bows 13 years ago were low 3 lb range bare. Thirdly, EVERY bow has a binary cam design . This makes me excited for the new choices out there . I sold mathews bows when in the industry, along with many others. I HATE a single cam and often called the solo cam the solo scam , lol. My favorite was always darton . Very rough around the edges, they were stupid forgiving . I wish more people would give darton more respect . They innovated the binary/cam and a half/ cps cam . They own the majority of patents in archery ! That company spent YEARS making the design of the modern compound bow what it is today. They spent their energy make true innovation while the other companies used dartons innovation without much if any , serious design input , but just refined what darton invented . Darton got left behind in the feel part of bows because they were busy making the important parts we all enjoy today. I told everyone I knew in the industry that the CPS/binary cam system would be THE system in the future way back in 1997 when I bought my first darton CPS bow. That is exactly where we are today . I like the direction the industry has gone while I was away . My only dislike is probably the push away from longer axel length bows . Imho , the string angle , thus ability to get a solid 3 point anchor point at a given drawlength , is important as any other attribute tested here . Overall, great vid !

Some yes, but not about the feel of the bow. I have discovered that a short brace height is not for me, I’m not consistent enough, so I need the forgiveness of a longer brace height. The bow feels amazing and shoots great. But in the heat of the moment while hunting I find myself being less consistent… next time I do this I will only choose bows with at least a 7” brace height or more. -Mark

IBO speed is determined with 400 grain arrow @ 80 lbs with no set draw length while ATA is 30" draw @ 70 lbs with 350 grain arrow correct?? So really you shouldn't be disappointed in chrono speed you got bc bows were not tested at proper settings

I had no idea which bow I was shooting on any of them. Definitely not just hating on Matthew’s but I’ve shot many Matthew’s. I like them as a tournament bow but not as a hunting bow. I do not like how snatchy they are off the back wall -Mark
