Jon Easdon's Blindside Midge is an all around fish catcher. It's making a name for itself along the Front Range and beyond. It can be tied in many different color and sizes. This one is tied in Purple with a natural gray ostrich herl.
Hook: 2488 Size 18-24
Thread: Purple 8/0 or UTC 70 D.
Bead: X-Small Diamond Glass Bead
Rib: X-Small Black Wire
Dubbing: Hareline Ice Dub, UV Pink
Collar: Natural Gray Ostrich Herl
Marker: Orange Sharpie to Finish

What are your favorite colors for this fly? Would you also fish it in the summer?

Hi. Thanks for asking. Some of the best colors are Black, Gray and Purple. But you can tie them in other colors also. Really, there are plenty of color options you could use. Wire color also. And I’d fish this in summer, possibly in larger sizes such as size 20. But if fish are eating PMDs and stoneflies, I wouldn’t fish it. But that’s something you have to figure out. Fish eat midges all the time but sometimes they have more options and they eat the bigger food options.
