Helga holding the bowl over Floki's head is a parallell to when Loki's wife Sigyn did the same thing, to protect him from the venom of a serpent dropping on him. When she emptied the bowl, the poison from the serpent dropped on Loki, and his pain would make the world shake. So whenever there is an earthquake it's because the poison dropped on Loki.

I just hope they pick up on it more before season 4B. SPOILER Ragnar and Ecbert getting drunk together and talking philosophy, religion and the world and their actions is one of my favorite scenes in the series and it is a ritual that almost all good male friends go through imo.

When Ragnar says this and finally admits Athelstan died in part because of him, it's just heartbreaking. In truth every single episode from 4x10 to 4x15 are so emotionally powerful, the best of the show I believe along with last 3 episodes from season 3

the actor for Bjorn actually had to interact with a real bear. The only thing seperating bjorn from the bear was a close line, which the bear had grown up to believe was an electric wire.

Eh, honestly I don't care that they're cheating on each other. The marriage wasn't for love, it was for political alliance, so I say let them be in the bed of whoever makes them happy behind closed doors. (Of course, as you can see, the woman gets punished for it, while the man doesn't. Aethelwulf owes Judith an ear, just to make things even.)

You mean Ecbert owes her an ear. Because he decided to apply the law being the King and all . He's such an effective manipulator than he can Van Gogh Judith and the viewer will hold Aethelwulf responsible for Judith infidelity and Ecbert's decision. Amazing. You're right it isn't a marriage of love but damn it Does Aethelwulf gets forced into it as well as he definitely gives the wedding a better shot than Judith. He dosen't even mind when Judith radically changes her entire appearance after Season 2( she's a totally different person). Aethelwulf is perhaps the second most genuinely good person in this show after Aethelstan. Not only did he rebuff Kwentrith until now but he actually raised Alfred as an equal son,takes him on a pilgramage to Rome, saves his life multiple times. Aethelwulf when he (rarely) does commit faults he recognises his own flaws and attempts to atone for them. Judith is not only unapologetic but also emotionally vindictive.She cheats on Captain dutiful with a monk and with his own father and dosen'thave the grace to apologize for either. You realise Ecbert has only been kind to Judith because he wants to pork her right? Judith Owes Aethelwulf a legitimate child and an apology.

Our bff since 1x2, our father's closest person and his keeper of secret, the one man who combined too world together... He came back to steer the destiny of our father once more... Athelstan was the impossible bridge between two faiths. His death was just symbolic, to the fact that sometimes, things just won't work out, no matter what you will try...

Bjorn (Björn) is bear in swedish (and I'm not sure but probably in the other Scandinavian languages as well). So for Björn to kill the bear can be a symbolism for the old Björn dying and him being reborn in a way.

I think Echbert loved athelstan just as much as ragnar - and she is his only link to him(+his son) That is echberts reason - I also think she knows that and knows he will protect her and her son. Her primary reason is her son. It kinda makes sense its just a shitty thing to put aethelwulf through though :D

It wasn't that Ragnar could hear Bjorn shouting; it was that he saw a raven flying over head. The old Norse thought that ravens were messengers (due to Odin's two raven messengers) so Ragnar sees it and intuits that something has happened to Bjorn. He doesn't know whether it's something good or if Bjorn is dead hence why we see him remembering Bjorn as a kid. Also Judith isn't cheating on Aethulwulf just because she feels like it which is how you're talking about it. She's doing it 'cause there isn't really a choice. At that time royal courts were very ruthless places and her son Alfred would've been in grave danger 'cause it was common knowledge amongst the nobility that he was the outcome of an affair with Athelstan. So she is thinking of his protection when she agrees to Ecbert's proposal of an affair - I don't even get the impression she likes him at this stage. There is also the small matter of him being the King and women basically just had to agree to be Kings' mistresses in those times - they could hardly say no. I mean even centuries later in Henry VIII's time he just had whichever woman he wanted for either a mistress or wife.
