I like the idea that the “rebel attack” being “all over the news” is the first time the empire has ever officially acknowledged any kind of rebel activity. Several things about Skeen that stand out on rewatch. During the battle on of the crew (canr remember who) said "cover me" and Skeen took a shot and then ran to save himself right before dude got shot. Also, insisting on going to the doctor was his one chance to steal the ship before they go to the delivery point. He actually needed someone to be injured badly enough that they had to go to the doctor.
@unicornburger162 жыл бұрын
It was Tameryn who said to cover him.
@davidparmly88282 жыл бұрын
3:25 Remember what Tamryn was before he was a rebel: A stormtrooper, an Imperial Infantryman, shock-trooper. He is the ex-infantryman that trained this team to fight. How do we see this in Epi 6? OK, so for the non-soldiers here, Infantrymen are trained to work as a 2-person team. The 2-man buddy team operates as a unit. One guy provides covering fire (force bad guy to duck, skew their aim, etc), while the other guy moves from one covered spot across a danger area/beaten zone to another covered spot. You don't move without someone covering you or it ends up badly for the mover. One guy says "Cover me: I'm moving." The other guys says "Move" or probably just opens up covering fire. The mover leaves protection and takes off. Once the mover gets to a covered spot, he says "Set", or something and now HE becomes the guy that provides the covering fire. So no one moves without their buddy covering them unless they are desperate. Soldiers spend hours, days, practicing this, developing their techniques, who says what to whom, when, etc. Tamryn, the ex-soldier, calls for covering fire so he can move into the open. Skeen, with what looks like a heavier firing weapon, is the perfect guy to provide it and he steps out and starts to engage. Pops off a few rounds. Tamryn sees this and starts to move. Then watch what Skeen does. Just as Tamryn is committed in the open, can't turn back, fully exposed, Skeen pulls back, ceasing fire and ducking behind the column. As soon as I saw this I said, "WTH? Did he want him to get popped?" Hmm. Turns out he did. One less person to have to try to peel off to divide the cash. I knew then that Skeen was bad business, and was not to be trusted with your life.

What I loved about spending two episodes with all these characters is that stakes and tension for the heist were at an all time high. Arvel’s betrayal stung and Nemik’s death with the slight chance of him surviving was a gut punch. I certainly think his death and manifesto is gonna trail blaze Cassian to becoming a revolutionary. Someone might have already said this, but the dam is The Cruachan Dam in western Scotland. Almost everything they showed going on around the dam was filmed at that location. The dam is right up in the hills above Loch Awe and is often in the clouds. The view you see in the show is the view you have on clear days. They added some sci-fi Imperial parts to it but the dam design, walkway across the top, water behind it, ladders up from the water, paths the Aldani and Imperial soldiers are walking on are all there. I was up there at the dam a few weeks ago, it's open to the public, after recognising it in the trailers so can definitely confirm all of the above.

Notice how the Imperials aren't portrayed as incompetent morons in this show. They're a real threat. They're only beaten because the Rebels themselves were smart, they had an inside man who helped massively, and even then they still took casualties and it all very nearly failed because an Imperial actually did his job and tried to figure out the loss of communications. Isn't that so much nicer? The plot can still happen, and be quite compelling, without relying on characters being selectively low IQ just so that the things happen that the writers wanted to happen. And on top of that, every character has his or her own motivations and reactions to the events happening, that are believable and more than skin deep. Why can't we get this all the time? Why is this the *only* Star Wars Disney has produced where the writers actually make an effort to tighten up the scripts, fill in plot holes, and plan things out well?

That Colonel who tried to save the kid from being hostaged humanizes the Empire so much. And it's also real as fuck. Not everyone that serves a seemingly evil regime are moustache-twirling masterminds. Most of them are just complacent in the overarching machinations. Some of them may be even good people, and they may do good deeds in the small scale but their duty to the Empire means that in the larger scale, they're still contributing to evil. Good people made to live in an evil society because they either comply or are indifferent. That hits too close to reality.

Technically Nemik’s last words to Cassian were for him to Dive & to Level out & then told him some numbers; but that connection definitely makes his death hurt that much more 💔

This is a show that isn't scared about portraying death or dealing with long-term consequences, and doesn't artificially amp up the pace to bring stakes into play. It's comfortable with slow, methodical writing, and unlike other contemporary projects, you can tell that the writers, VFX artists, composers, and sound designers have been given ample time to construct this beautiful story. Imagine if Kenobi had been given the same treatment.

Such an amazing episode. The visuals, the drama, the action. Everything. I jumped when Cassian shot Skeen & I seriously thought the Dhani Chief was Bryan Cranston. Such a great heist episode. Reminded me of Heat, GTA V, & Red Dead Redemption 2 doing bank heists.
@Knightmarex52 жыл бұрын
Something worth noting, Cassian said he was taking the 30,000 he was owed as he handed the crystal to Vel. That was the amount that Skeen falsely rated the crystal at in the previous episode, when he grabbed it from Cassian. I think next episode, we may see Vel telling Luthen what happened, and Luthen telling her that he was promised 200,000. She might be a bit more convinced about Skeen's betrayal after that.

the last time i cried watching a star war was december 2019, at least until this episode. got me ugly sobbing like i’m watching my boy ben disappear in front of my eyes again. ANYWAY this episode was absolutely grueling to watch, and even just rewatching it through this reaction got my stomach in a knot. beautifully written and acted and produced and directed, but good lord. i genuinely felt sick from the tension just five minutes into this episode! i can’t believe this show got me like this in just five episodes, and now six also, imagine seeing the eye in imax. it would’ve been MAGNIFICENT piece of trivia i haven’t seen mentioned yet: the commandant’s kid is one of rhaenyra’s suitors in hotd! the most memorable one!

One thing I really liked about this is the Imperial Colonel, because it seems like he might actually be a nice guy? When the Commandant is insulting the Aldhani, the Colonel looks really uncomfortable and defers to Gorn rather than join in. His questions seem to express concern for the people he's forcing out of their homeland. Then he dies trying to specifically protect a child. Even though he's only got 5 lines total, he actually seems like a good person who has avoided being crushed by the Empire's politics, and he's the first one the crew kills.
@MNM-lq9te10 ай бұрын
He also say let the boy go when he was pointing his blaster at namik in the hallway, He saw the boy having a blaster to his head and rather than trying to save himself he tried to have the child and wife of the commandant go because they had nothing to do with the payroll

Andor is the best thing to happen to Star Wars since Rogue One. As a long time reader of the Legends Disney has offered up so many disappointments. Mandalorian is great and fun, but it didn't give me the goosebumps that Andor has. I feel like we're finally getting something that's on par with the world that the Legends books had created before.

The best part of this series is that it’s not reliant on just being a Star Wars show. It’s a story that can happen across all kinds of genres in all kinds of worlds and it would work as well as it does in this one that just happens to take place in the world of Star Wars

My heart was pounding out of my chest throughout the last 15 minutes of this episode! I was just repeating “come on, come on, come on” on and of throughout the heist. The writing and directing was honestly some of the best I have ever seen not just in Star Wars but in any spy thriller tv series. And even after all of this Cassian still has no hesitation to put down an enemy, even if they were once an ally. I’m so happy that they portray all these characters as being completely grey. With the exception of Nemik.😢 This show deserves as big of an audience as The Mandalorian.

10:34 Exactly! I can't be the only one who expected the Dhanis to also pull some rebellion of, completely seperate and unrelated from the others. When the chieftain/leader/elder/whatever threw the fur into the fire, i was just waiting for him to rally his people for attack. Or maybe i was just over-imagining things because of how brilliantly tense this entire episode was. 11:07 Another thing i likes - yeah, he's an Imperial Engineer on the side of the bad guys and probably responsible for who knows what (we do know he would probably have been involved in the relocation of the airbase on Aldhani, which would rob the natives of their holy place, so that's pretty scummy), but the guy didn't hesitate to draw his gun on the people assaulting his group and what he actually asked for was the release of the boy, not his own.

I love how this was filmed in a Scotland and that they made almost zero modifications to the dam
@melissah84152 жыл бұрын
As the shows go on, I sure HOPE that the tech and the artistic look of the shows will get better. That doesn't mean the previous shows have bad production. It also helps that they filmed in the highlands of Scotland where it was cloudy, wet, and cold. Also, as the shows go and are successful and well-received, Disney will increase the budgets more and more. I'm so happy that Andor is not falling into the trap of "we have to have lots of action, right now!" They have created such great characters and have developed them so that when the action happens, we are invested.
@moodswinggaming29722 жыл бұрын
As a star wars fan since the late 80's i find that for a lot of star wars fans its like a comfort blanket and i LOVE that Andor just screws all that up and brings us new people, new stories and new ways of projecting it all (more adult, better cinematography, swearing, more gritty scenes). It's fucking great.
