The kid who played Aang in this move is actually SUPER cute and cheerful and sweet in all the behind the scenes clips I've seen. He's literally like a textbook copy of Aang in real life, but for some reason Shyamalan directed him to act the role as a stoic emotionless human doll instead.

@Rebecca Goldstein The art direction wasn't a problem. This is only my opinion, but overall I think that the visual effects were a pain in the eyes outside of few examples, such as the water bending ability. The textures of some of the elements are arguable bad designed or bad portrayed, either of those count for me in the category of having "bad effects". Such effects don't even look in place; that's probably a consequence of the bad direction that the movie has and we can take the example of the minute 10:20 with the group of dancing buffoons bending one tiny rock. The CGI wasn't even good for me, Appa felt like it was limited to the exposure of lazy cinematography so they wouldn't have to show his full body, not to mention that they didn't even show his face that much and having him in the background for most of the time was a waste, but well, make of that what you will.

I don’t care how difficult it is to fit an entire season into a two hour movie. There’s way too much in this film that is unforgivable. The mispronunciations, the acting, the casting/changes they made to the races, Zuko’s scar that is barely noticeable, the way they reveal the Fire Lord like he’s nothing, the AWFUL bending, the LACK of bending. I keep editing this comment to add things I’m remembering. M. Night should be as criticized as he is/was because he clearly wasn’t even trying to stay true to the show that so many people loved. He was just trying to make money off of what so many people loves.

Don’t forget the awful worldbuilding, like how they fail to clearly mention that the fire nation has been taking over and at war for the past 100 years, or the fact that the fire nation not being able to make fire means their invasions should be nearly impossible. Like why the fuck does the northern water tribe have TORCHES LIT all around their city as the FIRE NATION INVADES. Literally the first thing you want to do is use your water to extinguish all their fires, and you’ve immediately won the battle.

By far, the worst experience I've had in a movie theater. I was with my dad that day, and he knew that I loved the show, and middle-school me was pretty excited. I was so disappointed, but I didn't want to disappoint my dad and say that we'd wasted one of his days to be with me on a bad movie, so I pretended to like it. A few years later I told him the truth, and he was actually relieved that I didn't like the movie. Even though he hadn't seen the show, he knew it was a bad movie.

It was the rock scene that made my dad, sister and I walk out. Didn't even stick around to watch the rest of the Bullshit. I went in so excited to see my favorite show come to life, and it was so disappointing that it legitimately brought me to tears. To this day just the mention of this movie makes me cringe. It's actually kind of sad. That kid was legitimately qualified to play Aang. He was a skilled martial artist and he was capable of being happy and joyful as seen in BTS footage. But Schyamalan chose to make Aang into the most pretentious, depressing form of himself possible. And on top of torpedoing his career that kid has also had to deal with people making fun of him for being in this for years on end.

Watching *Shane* during the replay (1:07:44) is so funny and even a little _sad_ (but more _funny,_ IMO), because it seems clear he actually likes it. It just shows how we all can view _the same thing_ but perceive it differently. Like *Eric* said, fans were so excited. They dressed up like a *Star Wars* premier. Then, they get _this._ So one can imagine just how devistated they were. Even if you consider that this was going to be several films, much of the exposition was actually kind of pointless. Zhao mentioning Iroh's son had no place in the film. And when Katara told Zuko that she's _the last waterbender in the Southern Water Tribe_ I wanted Zuko to say, _"Okaaaay. Why are you telling me this? And why should I care?"_ I understand why they probably made firebenders bend this way. Because from an outside perspective, every other bending power can only manipulate elements already around them. However, as *Eric* noted, it depowers the Fire Nation _a great deal._ In fact, if _most_ firebenders can't _create_ fire, then they're at a _huge_ disadvantage to every other nation. *Each technique that the other nations use is **_ideal for putting out fires._* Even though air can _feed_ fire, we also know that air benders can remove air from an area. So, I don't know how the Fire Nation could have become so threatening or become so powerful in this version of the world. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@TheVideomasterg
@TheVideomasterg 5 жыл бұрын
Because every bending style takes 15 moves to use the simplest technique I can see the fire nation getting the edge on the other nations because of their industrialization, wich allows them to get better weaponry. Honestly while I enjoyed the movie the first time I saw it I've gotta say the elemental bending is lackluster in this movie, it's so slow that it would be more effective to just phisicaly attack your opponent than earthbending, for example.

Literally like 95% of the dialogue is exposition, most of which isn't even freaking relevant... I do agree that it's easily a better adaptation of source material than something like DB Evolution, but it's almost like it tries to cram TOO MUCH source material into the movie and forgets to have a plot or character personalities instead. Evolution might be a far worse bastardization of the original material, but at least it's fun to laugh at. What has me hopeful for the Netflix version is Mike and Bryan (the original creators and show runners), they were specifically cut out from having any real involvement in this movie, but they are completely in charge of the Netflix series
