I feel like they should have had the Blue Spirit episode be the climax of this first movie. That way they could have given more time to develop the characters and such. They could have had commander Xiao be the main bad guy, kinda like he was in the actual show at that point. And they could have ended it with the "twist" since M. Night likes to do those. It would have been perfect.

Here's the thing: I think it totally would have fit in a 2hr movie. M. Night forced an epic-length story into a rom-com running time. There was a lot of fat to be trimmed even in this short of a movie, and a better director could have introduced Jong-Jong and the Kyoshi warriors. Jet can easily be ignored and given his role to Zuki, giving the Kyoshi warriors more purpose and a larger role in book 2 within Ba Sing Se.

I did appreciate it when Yue’s hair turned dark upon giving her life force back to the Moon spirit. When I watch the show I feels disappointed that it doesn’t happen there. However, she does make cameo’s in later seasons as the Moon spirit and if she didn’t have white hair then, which gives her an ethereal glow it would have looked strange. In the film she doesn’t disappear and come back as a spirit so they can get away with altering her appearance.

Other than the sets and costumes, this movie is absolute garbage! You must have been really really high to enjoy this. The slow motion fighting and bending is aweful, the movie was 1 hour and 40 min. for a 20 ep. series, so everything was rushed, even if you've seen the show you're confused. The dialog is all exposition, and are deliverd by some of the worst acters i've ever seen, the casting is wrong, they pronounce their names wrong, and they get non of the characters right. So how was this an ok attempt and a decent movie?
@Gamelover2547 жыл бұрын
Even the sets were pretty meh. The earth Kingdom in the show had people living in actual villages, while in this, they looked like they all lived in mud huts. Not to mention the supposed earthbending prison :/
@flixerdk79477 жыл бұрын
The Earth Kingdom prison was the scene with the tents, and that was shit, why wasn't it on a metal ship? But i was thinking of the CGI city shots of the airtemples and the city of the Northern Water Tribe, although the rest of the CGI wasn't that good, those establishing shots looked pretty spot on, i guess that isn't the sets, but more scenery. And that's as far as i will go in praising this movie, the rest was absolute shit!

i went into this movie willing to give the director one last chance, and i walked out of this movie half way through did not even ask for my money back. the effects were ok but the movements did not jive with the bending, and i felt the casting was very wrong for this, and they did not portray the characters well like Sokka in the movie he was all serious and wide eyed like some one was holding his balls and squeezing them tighter threw out the movie,

Split was a decent movie
@the-NightStar6 жыл бұрын
He redeemed himself with The Visit and Split. .....well, almost. This is still a black mark on his permanent record FILLED with black marks and horrible, abominable mistakes. In my opinion, Shyamalan NEEDS to stick to doing dark comedy horror and STOP trying to put a twist in everything. (Which he's doing now, for the most part. Thank god.) I am gonna be fair and honest to the guy.... he is at his absolute BEST when he's sticking to horror, and when it's OBVIOUS that it's intended to be a dark comedy. None of this shit that makes it unclear whether or not we're supposed to take it seriously like The Happening, Devil or whatever in the fuck Lady In The Water was supposed to be. But like, when he's just making a cheesy dark comedy with intentionally disturbing confusion. Not being pretentious, just being entertaining. The Visit is literally one of his best movies in aaaaaages, because he stuck to what he knows and was everything like the above. Kids go to stay with their grandma and things slowly unravel to the point of comedic, disturbing insanity as these kids try to figure out WHO or WHAT this fucking "grandma" is. It's simple, it's to the point, it's not pretentious, and it's clearly INTENDED to be funny and horrifying. Split continued this as well, but to somewhat lesser effect. It's still an interesting movie with a tone that is somewhere between horror and comedy at the absurd situation and the absurd situations it presents. But it just shows that as a director he has things he's good at and things he's impossibly incompetant at. And adapting beloved television shows into a movie form.... he's not fucking good at it. AT ALL.

The CG for *Not Oppa* and *Not Momo* wasn't at all good, tbh, it was fucking terrifying The fire lord in this movie looks like Indian Julius Caesar. Half the martial arts forms don't even have the bending they're supposed to have because they ran out of money (Like *Not Aang* and *Not Katara* doing "Bending" with no water moving, *Not Aang* doing bending movements and nothing happening, and the Earth Benders all doing that unintentionally hysterical scene where they all work together to lazily move one rock like 3 feet) Not to mention the prison scene was on a metal ship with no earth to bend in the show and here it was on a barren land of dirt and rock and they just did nothing to escape Also, *Not Zuko* (and his invisable scar) when dressed as the Ugly Hag... I mean Blue Spirit just swings his swords at nothing, its like the opponents he was supposed to be fighting were sick that day and M. Knight just had them film the choreography the same without them they mispronounce names, hell, they couldn't even say Avatar right. they whitewashed the main cast while making the enemies (Who are supposed to be based on Japan btw) all Indian and middle eastern for some reason. None of the actors can act, none show emotion or even feel like they have a real personality, everything feels so dreary throughout the whole thing, they screwed up fire bending, making them need pre-existing fire to bend and when *Not Iroh* creates his own they shit themselves like its some unheard of thing. They're blatantly wrong about facts in the show (example, when *Not Katara* says Aang had difficuly with water bending. False, he was better at it than Katara was without even trying) No Roku, just a dragon talking to *Not Aang* for some reason Yue's hair should've been censored, kind of obscene for a Nickelodeon movie this movie is just garbage
