Something that you may not have noticed- Zero's attire is designed to look like the king piece on a chessboard. It complements how he views the battles as a chess game with himself as the king.

Since it's never really explained in detail... The Lancelot's sword are called Maser Vibration Swords (or, as Kewell says, MVSs). Basically, they use a combination of heat and vibration to enhance cutting power, hence the red color.

We will learn more on the power of geass over the span of the show. We will also learn more about the other powers of the world along with Britannia. Cornelia is second princess by birthright and Viceroy of Area 11 since Clovis’ death. Hearing your theories on Geass is pretty interesting. Euphy is finished with school. Cornelia and Euphemia are of the same mother, explaining why their “of Britannia” name is the same. As far as the parallels with Death Note, CC could be the Ryuk of this show. Suzaku and Lelouch having the split screen only exists to show they both have very similar ideas, but a different way of going about it. I’m really excited for the next couple of episodes. I’m also glad to see that there doesn’t seem to be any doubts anymore about this show being a good watch among these guys

kamron spencer I'm confused by what you're saying here. They all have the same father, The Emperor. If it's "la Britannia" it's from one woman and if it's "El Britannia" it's another woman. Lelouch has introduced himself as Lelouch Vi Britannia (birth name) and Lelouch Lamprouge (false name). He and Nunally are both Vi Britannia cause they have the same mother

Catching up with these reactions, and I don't understand why everyone is getting up in arms about them "not enjoying the show" - they seem to be enjoying it fine to me! It is confusing to a first time watcher, there is a lot of info to be confused about and discuss, especially when watching in a group - and that's fine. They seem to be having fun with it, which is all I wanted from this show, really. People in the comments occasionally make it out as if they hate it, and I keep getting surprised when I actually watch the reaction because I don't see any of that. Not every show has people super hooked from the start - and not every show needs to be their favourite show. That aside, I'm really enjoying these reactions, for all the ridiculous anime hype. And yes, I am looking forward to the next one. It's gonna be an interesting watch.

I enjoyed the High School Episodes a lot because I feel they add characterization to the characters. The comedy is childish and low-brow at times, however I find that to be its charm. Lelouch is an ingenious psychopath, but he's able to act like a teenager at school. This contrast makes him a unique personality where you wonder if he's looking for liberty or for fun. However, when watching in a group its hard to enjoy it without thinking "I can understand why this would be embarrassing for the other guys". Even my Top 10 animes will be hard to watch with someone else. That 2nd hand embarrassment is powerful. Anime can be very personal, where the jokes are juvenile but endearing. There's no punchline or setup or witty banter. Sometimes the humor has no point to it, but it feels like you're watching people just playing around and I love that. Its like calling your partner an affectionate nickname, but finding it embarrassing to say it in public. Its something you enjoy because you understand why you like it, but you can also understand why others would find you ridiculous. Your mind overthinks and you realize how you look from the outside. I believe its one of the reasons why anime isn't spreading further, but I still enjoy this part of the medium.

Euphy is a princess so just like royalty in history she's had private classes in education about the world and the duties of a princess along with regular studies but she doesnt "go to" a school like lelouch and suzaku Ashford Academy is a private school its the Ashford Private Academy And its Su-za-ku not Sa-zu-ka/Sa-zu-ku like u guys have been saying And the prinecss with the purple hair is Princess Cornelia

Neptune Truth be told, I don't think either dub does a particularly good job in this show. I think the biggest problem with the English dub is the dialogue itself. It doesn't sound very natural. Nevertheless, I still enjoy the dub better than the sub because Crispin Freeman and Johnny Yong Bosch are far, far superior to their Japanese counterparts.

i have yet to see anyone who says the English dub of code geass is terrible in the comments. a lot of dubs are bad, but this isn't one of them... in fact i think the English voice actor for the main character nails the character 100%. anyone who says other wise is nitpicking to the extreme.

@@Dangangela6565 wait do you want me to name one good dub or one bad dub? i mean if i wanted to go with an easy answer for a bad one, i'd just say one piece dub by 4kids, which was the only official one piece dub for a while at one point. maybe a less obvious one you could make an argument for is dragonballz which severely changes the character of goku and a few others, and some would argue it is a bad dub since it completely changes characters to the point of opening up plot holes and making inconsistency's in the story. honestly as you get to present day more and more dubs, not even just in anime, are pretty good, but when you start going back to code geass era and earlier they were honestly few and far between. for a good dub, one people say is better then the japanese version is cowboybebop which is even older then code geass

Sadek Miah CC would the 'witch' for Lelouch as to Euphemia is Suzuaku's 'princess' since they are introduced as solid characters this episode. It's the contrast between the two ideologies of Lelouch and Suzaku similar to that of Lelouch being a demon and Suzaku being a white knight

I totally get you. They just don't seem to mesh that well. I absolutely don't mean that I don't like their reactions. What you and I are feeling is probably because they are "so western" while the show just screams of Japan and Anime if you get what I mean. The reason Boku no Hero Academia clicked so well with them is because it is based on western hero tropes/clichés/genres (I don't mean that in a bad way). Fullmetal Alchemist clicked with them because it was heavily focusing on the military and a mostly european setting (Germany in that case). I feel like that's why I think Code Geas and they don't mesh that well yet. They have no way to relate to pretty much anything in this show yet besides the double persona thing and that some of them really like Mecha Anime. I look forward to seeing what they will think of this show at the end of this season. I hope this "cringe factor" that you and I feel will go away sometime soon since I personally really want to get rid of that feeling and just enjoy the ride alongside them again.

This is just a 10 minute highlight, and yet, I've cringed several times at how hammy the show is. It is not like I remembered it, that's for sure. To be fair though, the dub seems to be a big factor. So many questionable/uncomfortable takes, mainly from Nunnally and Euphie. I hope they are at least sincerely enjoying this somewhat, or else this is going to be a rough 50 weeks. Hopefully the next show in this slot holds up better. I think they'd enjoy the hell out of Cowboy Bebop or Steins;Gate. (On a positive note, C.C. is still best girl though. Like, oh man, she is even more best girl than I remember.)
