Cybermen are personally my favorite villains in Doctor Who due to both the loss of individual autonomy and body horror. While these Cybermen are mostly brains in jars, earlier Cybermen, and later on these ones, usually just carve you open, removed some of your major organs and replace them or augment them with mechanical replacements or grafts and lastly build the suit around the vivisected body. The 2006 design was also my favorite since the unison marching pretty much emphasized that you're now a perfect extension of a collective hive mind and basically a perfect little soldier, like in some Stalinist regime where they essentially do treat people as mere extensions of the government's will. I also think the loud stomping serves as an effective psychological warning, since, while you can run all you want from them, since they never tire, eventually they will catch you or find you and either convert your or just kill you.

I still don't think that Love and Monsters deserves the hate it gets. It's a really good episode until the ending--which is the only bad part. If you can look past the ending, everything else is very enjoyable to watch. The Idiot's Lantern is one that I used to dislike, but I rewatched it again awhile back and actually somewhat enjoyed it. It's a drier episode, but not bad. Fear Her is one that I'll agree is absolutely terrible. There is absolutely no good that I can say about it whatsoever.
@dochry73017 жыл бұрын
The resolutions to episodes of DW may not always make sense or may seem to convenient, but try and remember that the Doctor isn't like most protagonists of typical sci-fi shows like Legends of Tommorow. He has to use his intellect rather than brute force which can be very hard for writers to come up with all the time as opposed to Legends of Tomorrow while there is still intellect most problems they encounter or villains they face they just punch their way out of it.

"That's the dumbest fuck I've ever seen" LOL this is Doctor Who alright. And I love it, shameless. But guys, just drop trying to find logic and tie knots on this show, you will see how fun it is once you embrace Shane's phrase.
@KoffingOnion7 жыл бұрын
Well they shouldn't not apply logic, because thats what everyone does and if the writers can't use logic, that's bad writing.
@annapires9917 жыл бұрын
KoffingOnion Is essentially a children's show, complaining abt bad writing in it is hilarious. Especially with the ever changing of screen writers. And no, nonsense does not equal bad writing, what does is when a writer contradicts the show's own rules abt the universe it proposes. Aka what GoT did, what Walking Dead have been doing for a while, etc. DW will have some serious issues down the road, but these first episodes are so silly and child friendly, is hard to put fault on it.
@KoffingOnion7 жыл бұрын
it's not really a children's show, but more of a family show, that children can watch. I wouldn't really call mass murder child-friendly, but I watched it as a kid and I turned out fine. But regardless to that point, the show should still make sense and have good writing because it lets the story be better. Like an example of how bad writing negatively effects the episode is when the doctor is hiding from the cybermen and pulls out his sonic screwdriver, uses it and then the cybermen walk away. The viewer is left confused as to what actually happened. Did the cyberman stop investigating and get on with their job? Did the doctor's sonic make the cybermen leave them alone somehow? Wouldn't the loud sonic sound make them want to investigate? If the doctor did somehow make the cybermen leave them alone, that's overpowered and would solve a lot of other problem in the episode. Its never explained and looks quite dumb, taking the viewer out of the episode, which is bad. By showing the writing isn't taking writing seriously, it tells the viewer to not view the show seriously which removes any high stakes that the episode has. Personally one of my favorite things about this show is how logical it is and by telling the crew to not think about the show logically, it discourages them from understanding future episodes which almost require higher level thinking. Edit: And yes I have seen doctor who, thanks for checking
@justsomerandomguyonline11447 жыл бұрын

That x10 current series is 40 months which equates to 3.3 years. But since they are about halfway through this season it's gonna be around 2.8 years. However as they are catching up during that time 13 will have started so back up to 3 years. Excited to see all the reactions for the next 3 years.😁😂

Trying to apply dry logic to a show like Doctor Who is an exercise in futility. Doctor who had a lot of a filler episodes in the early season that literally had nothing to do with the rest of the season. Only in the recent seasons did they try to tie the whole season together with at least a few points of story telling that reminded you what the whole season was about.

The first part was good. This part is horrifically poorly written with many many moments that don't make a lick of sense. Plus it ruined the Cybermen.

Okay then. Why does the factory magically blow up when they kill the Cybermen? How did Lumic, a slow-moving Cyberman manage to get to the roof and onto the ladder within seconds of them without anyone noticing even though he left the control room like ten solid minutes after they did? How did the clanky Cybermen sneak up on The Doctor and Mrs. Moore? Only answer to all of these questions: Poor writing.

This_is_ellis You hate this season because of production that's low in comparison to today's who and the existence of filler episodes? So do you consider the first ten incarnations of Doctor Who as a 'low point' or is it something else that's particular to this season?

Like all shows, it gets better... ...well, not this season. This season gets much worse before it gets better.
