It took me around the 3rd time to realise that basically every line out of Baby’s mouth was a quote from someone else in the movie. The attention to detail from Edgar is MENTAL.

When they fiilmed this, they actually had the music playing on set so that the actors moved and spoke in time with it. On the second heist, the reason they switch cars is that the song Edgar Wright wanted playing was too short. By switching cars they could have Baby restart the song!

The thing about the Mike Myers masks is (this is what I heard, not sure how much of it is true) they wanted to use actual Michael Myers masks for the scene but there were legal issues that they would have to go through and basically said "screw that" and thought up the Mike Myers joke and actually contacted Mike Myers to ask of they could use his face and gave him the context of the joke/scene and he loved it and gave them the go ahead

As a person with tinnitus with a range of 20,000 hz down to -20 decibels (dog whistles to infrasound) Every second I’m not listening to music, or playing guitar, or hearing natural forest noises; The ringing amps up again, I never can sit in absolute silence. never goes away just treated with more pleasant noises. I didn’t have a accident it’s just my cóclea never relaxes. But before this movie I thought I was crazy for hearing electrical currents in the walls so I thank Edgar a lot but it’s pretty accurate honestly, my playlist has 5,400 songs and oldies sooth the ears better. And music makes me feel alive again. Ps: if a animal is making noise at a vacuum, car, even old big back static TVs they’re not scared, it sucks hearing.

One of my all time favourite movies! I particularly love how they set Bats up as the Big Bad and also create a nice work friendship between Baby and Buddy... Then they brutally kill off Bats and make Buddy the Big Bad. What a great movie!

I love that baby samples everything, both in his music and his speech. Almost every line he says is drawn from either a different movie or another characters lines in this movie. its such a subtle detail that gives such an important character trait.

The drift scene in the alley was real. But some of the obstacles were added in digitally. The guy in the white suit was Paul Williams. A famous music composer/singer/actor. Seeing as how this movie has a lot to do with music, I'm not surprised seeing him in it. You've probably heard a lot of his work without knowing it.

as someone with Tinnitus, I think its pretty cool how they presented it in the movie. You can hear his tinnitus whenever music isnt playing. My tinnitus wasnt caused by an accident. I just have it... I dont know what caused it, maybe its from listening to music on max volume through earphones when I was a teen. You get used to it, honestly

I love this movie. The music choices are on point. Every music intro makes you think one song, and another plays. It's constantly averting expectations. Like the recordings. Is he protecting himself? Nope, just making music. The filming is fantastic. Baby's coffee walk and the graffiti changing on the walk back. His wardrobe going from white to grey the more his hands get dirty. Edgar Wright is s genius.

2:00 Car stunt is practical, trucks are CGI

If I'm remembering the behind the scenes correctly it's only the first truck that's actually CGI, the second (main one) is real. But yes, a mix of the two.

for those that want to see how awesome this movie is, (you missed a ton I am sure) I will give you two starter examples: 1) When he first sees her while he is picking up coffee right behind him is a mural, it has a black heart in the center. After he sees her and she walks by the same mural the heart is red. 2) the reason Baby wears glasses is to symbolize him shading himself from the life of crime he is in, anytime he is forced to actually see how deep he is in the crime world he takes his glasses off. At the ending heist when he signals to the woman to not go in every single pair of glasses he tries to put on get broken or lost, he can no long try to pretend what world he is part of now, his eyes are wide open.

This has probably been mentioned but, Baby Driver all stemmed from Edgar Wright hearing 'Bell Bottoms' by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and scoring it to a hesit/chase scene in his head (which became the first scene of the movie). He then used this idea for the music video he directed for Mint Royale, Blue Song (the music video has a brief cameo in this movie). The idea then evolved to a while movie

You guys should react to a complete breakdown of this movie and be amazed at how many details you missed. Or any Edgar Wright film for that matter but this film more. It's my favourite movie of his from an entertainment pov and a technical pov. I've never seen a more attention to detail and in depth movie in my life, I've watched every breakdown on youtube and all of them feature something someone else missed It's actually amazing. Idk what's up with Edgar Wrights mind but he is the Albert Einstein of film structure and cinematography. He is a true master class artist.

This is one of my favorite movies ever. It's one of the few I've obsessed over and watched over a half dozen times. Watching the "Everything Great About" video on it really gives perspective on how much you miss. It's also one of the few love stories in a movie that I ever gave a crap about. Everything from the syncing music with the action, the dialogue, the witty editing style, all of it. Insane movie that I both wish got a sequel while also hoping it never does because I don't think you can replicate it's greatness.

For the Tequila gunfight, the blanks and earplugs meant the actors couldn't hear the music they were normally choreographed to. They memorized the entire song and performed it deaf.

8:14 So just to clarify since I just watched a video about this. That man was actually a veteran or current Marine Corp. soldier(u don’t fuk with Marines) since you can tell by the decals on his truck and his hat. And as for why he is loaded with weapons in his truck, well ima just assume this is a state where military or civilians can conceal and carry around with them weapons/atom weapons in vehicles. As for why he’s trying to stop them, like Jamie Fox’s character said he’s tryin to be a hero and also he’s a soldier. We say this movie yeasterday on TV One of the absolut best part in the movie was the music. When they played The Damned they had me hooked. Then when Jamie Foxx said Barbara Streisand and singing we started to laugh hard. If you dont know Jamie have done a duett with her and his voice is beyond good. Baby and Debbie are the cutes couple in a moive for a long time. The acting is very good and i´m normaly a harsh critic of acting. Thanks for posting this

FUCK I love this movie so much. Its got so many amazing moments of cinematography and is such an incredible example of Edgar Wright's style. All the performances are so rad and I especially love the line "I thought I told you to run!" However, I think my favorite thing about it is it has such a classic sense of Hollywood morality. It feels like something Steve Mcqueen would have starred in, in the late 50's or 60's. A good kid and his diner waitress girlfriend trying to escape this dangerous life he's unfortunately been drawn into. It's so fun and I especially love how in the end he doesn't just "get the girl" and it's "Happily ever after." He ends up being tried for what he participated in. Because he's fundamentally a good character during his trial we see characters reference his good heart. In the end his girl and his happy ending are waiting for him like a classic story. damn what an amazing film.

My only complaint about this movie is the cut to their faces in the car when it drifts around the truck hits water and changes direction. This stunt was actually performed, but that cut makes it seem less real.
