We just wired our Blink doorbell earlier in the week so it works with our Echo Show 5. Caught a cheeky fox helping himself to pears off the lower branches of our tree. You can have a two-way conversation if the motion detector goes off. The one downside I find is the latency. Takes up to 20 seconds to work with the Echo Show (faster on my mobile phone) and we have a high speed broadband connection. We also had to change the batteries. We got our Blink doorbell in April. We're using rechargeable batteries so using one set in the doorbell and the other set ready to go in when needed. I have mobility issues and it's really good to see who's at the door from anywhere. Cold callers I can either ignore or tell them I'm not interested. Overall, I really like the Blink doorbell. I do feel safer with it too.

Great video, I wish the camera video quality in low light was a lot sharper. We get what we paid for at $35, and I am dang sure Amazon paid $8 or $9 per camera before the mark up to $35

I love my blink camera system. Only concern is delay with current wireless cameras at front door. By the time i see motion alarm and go to speak people are gone. I am hoping that ring response time with my current system will be better. Great review thank you, I will buy.

What if we already have the blink camera and I wanted to add this to the door? Would they both set off my Alexa to notify me that someone's at the front door? My camera only shows the driveway and front walk area. Can't really see who's at the door, the reason why I wanted this. Would these devices both confuse each other?

Thanks for the video, really useful. I got the Blink Outdoor security camera when it went on offer a while ago. I repurposed it as a wildlife camera and it works really well at recording the comings and goings in the back garden. ( Foxes, cats, hedgehogs ). I'll get the Doorbell when it goes on offer on Prime day, I'll see how it works in the hedgehog feding station / house.

nice video but at around 7:50 you say that you were interested in how long the notifications took... then failed to give the "latency" readings. Someone commented further down. (thanks) I currently run two cameras and I find the delay runs at around 10-15 seconds which means if this were to be the delay on the doorbell it's usefulness is marginal.

Cheers, probably not for me then as I want a dedicated bell. FYI, if you put lights up on the outside you can turn IR mode off completely and you get a fantastic picture, not tried on the doorbell but I have 6 of the regular blink cameras on the outside covering the front, side and rear.

If you can remove it easily to replace the batteries then that means someone could just as easily steal it. I live in an area where I can't leave my bike outside, unless it's chained up so the chances of having this nifty gadget longer than a few hours would be a miracle. For me with very high speed wifi, the time between the doorbell being pressed and my phone chiming is about 2 to 3 seconds. The major delay is for the camera to be visable on my phone, it takes 15 to 25 seconds. Although that is not a long time, it can equate to about 30 seconds overal in which time I have had some callers simply walk away assuming I am not in. The lag is unnacceptable and I will be returning it.

fairly easy, you need a flat head screwdriver though. and it would be difficult to do without getting on camera. It would automatically upload any footage whilst they were removing it so you have that.

If it works like the Blink Camera's then it will last ages. My front of house blink camera which activates 4 or 5 times a night lasted just over 2 years and the one at rear of house is still working after 2.5 years. So should do well.

Regarding the batteries: of course best option would be 2x quality alkaline cells but your argument for rechargeable ones is very silly... Just get FOUR of them and replace empty ones for fully charged ones ;)

My point that I may not have made well was... Some video doorbells have internal batteries that aren't removable, so you would have to take the doorbell of and charge it inside. so having removable batteries is ideal. Sure, getting rechargeable AA's would do the trick. that being said they should last a fair while!

Blink recommends using Lithium Batteries for good reason. You will get about a week out of Alkaline rechargeable ones.
