I cycle several round trips per day on the canal every day of the week. Love seeing you guys hit gold when they are running. The shared space is fine with bikers, walkers and fishermen. Everybody is respectful. Great video. I’m the guy always racing by on the recumbent racing trike!

Right on! Thank you very much Mark, seems like just a great spot in general regardless of whatever activity you’re partaking in. I’m psyched that my trip there coincided with a few prolific blitzes, sounds like those few days were some of the best in recent memory. I’ll keep my eye out for you next time! I’ll be the guy with way too much camera equipment filming my buddies catch more fish than me 😂

@@WoodsNorth you missed the two biggest “blitz” days ever yesterday and today. The water was just boiling with strippers! Everybody went home loaded down.

Nice video. I didn't know drones are allowed on the Canal. You can problibly enjoy fishing with your friends more if you used a GoPro but none can beat the quality of your camera? I'd hate the time it would take to setup and shoot using one of those while fish are blitzing😂
@WoodsNorth Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! I also thought that drones might not be allowed but when I opened my DJI Fly app it listed the canal as a “recommended zone” haha. If I’m in a restricted zone my drone won’t even take off. Yeah I hear ya, I run two GoPros with my main camera. Pretty tough to balance filming on the big camera and being able to catch fish myself haha. Next time I’m there I’m dragging a non fishing buddy with my to be full time camera man 😂

Great video!! Does it get pretty crowded there? How are the locals with out of staters?? Lol
@WoodsNorth Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! It gets extremely crowded haha thankfully we were there on a Tuesday so it wasn’t out of control. Reminds me a lot of battle fishing for salmon in Weatern NY. Everyone we talked to was nice enough, but they definitely have an edge to them. Definitely wouldn’t recommend casting over one of their lines 😂

Sweet vid. Were you near the sagamore or bourne bridge. I was there it was nuts!!
@WoodsNorth Жыл бұрын
Thanks Gary! It was an unbelievable sight indeed. We were about a quarter mile up the canal from the Bourne Bridge. We also went back the next day and fished under the power lines closer to the Sagamore but the fish were considerably smaller. Thanks for watching! 😎

What do you recommend for a rod and reel setup for the canal?
@WoodsNorth7 ай бұрын
Hey Eric! My set up here is the Penn Fierce IV combo. 9ft medium fast rod with a 4000 size reel. 300 yards of 50lb braid to a 25lb flurocarbon leader. I’d say definitely go with a beefy rod, wouldn’t go shorter than 9ft. In this video Connor was rocking an 11ft rod and he was able to cast the furthest. I do like my set up a lot though and it wasn’t all that expensive. Not including the lures (which are like $30 a piece) I think the rod, reel and line all came to about $220. Hope this helps! 🎣

Canal is not only for fishermen, it also many people biking on canal service road. People who launch their cast from service road just really horrible to show up in canal.
@WoodsNorth Жыл бұрын
I totally agree! It’s certainly a shared space not just for fishermen. We only casted maybe 5 times from the path when we weren’t seeing any fish, and obviously made sure the road was clear of any bike or foot traffic. Otherwise we were fishing from the bank 100% of the time, as you can see in the video. Thanks for watching!
