the fact that he was a second round pick is crazy to me to this day

Yeah it’s not really that crazy, considering he was a running back, and he played for one of the best systems in college, Alabama. Most teams didn’t need a running back, Especially In the FIRST ROUND.

as a nashville native, i was so hyped when we drafted him and im so glad we got the chance to get him. i’m 23 so i have been used to the titans stinking it up since they got here cause they were only good in the early 2000s so i was never old enough to appreciate them but he was the centerpiece for the good era in TN. he definitely deserved mvp in 2020 and i think before getting injured in ‘21 that he was easily going to get it since he was on track to smash 2000 yards in that year as well. but i will always be grateful that i got to watch him

As another Nashville native, he was certainly the highlight of many of our games. However, they expected him to carry the load even without an O-line doing their job. I hate that he is gone, but I’m glad that he went somewhere to have a chance at a ring…someday. That obviously wasn’t here. Now I’m more interested in watching the Ravens than the Titans. I’ll always be a King Henry fan.

I always celebrate my Florida Boys. Florida, as a state, as produced a lot of top end players in every sport, but mainly football. That's why I pull for the Ravens in the AFC because their backfield features 2 FL state residents. Both Jackson and Henry are the arguably the most fun backfield to watch because it is hard to stop.

I will really hope Derrick henry cracks the 2000 yard mark for the second time on Sunday. If he does it, he will cement himself as a first ballot HoF. It will take something like that IF he was to retire after this season due to the extreme backlog of great running backs waiting.

AsAs a Titans fan I had grown more and more irritated with people trying to say Derrick Henry was done and would continue downwards. He is showing everyone that you can't apply the common rules for ordinary RB's to one of the best to ever do it. He is showing in Baltimore that he has much more in the tank than people claimed. What do you know you put him on a team that actually has other offensive weapons and a good offensive line and even at his age he's rushing like 2020 Henry. People should know just how insanely impressive what he was able to do in Tennessee the last few seasons considering if only 8 defenders were in the box he felt like it was a dream come true. Him now on an offense where the defenders can't sell out against the run because the Ravens can pass. How bad ass would it be if he manages 2000 yds again this year? Needless to say no one has ever done that twice. People clearly jumped the gun on his demise. They don't seem to realize that unlike your usual RB when he comes in contact with defenders 9 times out of 10 it's the defender getting the brunt of it. Not to mention forgetting his first few years in the NFL he shared the load so his age annd years played isn't a reliable measurement of his future. Hey if the goal is to let your most important players stroll out of the door for nothing or basically nothing than the Titans are the best team to be a fan of.

Fun fact: Kelvin Taylor of Florida also broke the national rushing record that season but was bested by Henry in total. Taylor would hold it outright but they won't count his 8th grade season which was played in varsity.
@newgoliard60592 ай бұрын
Both of them played against avg. competition. Taylor went to a private school and Henry was at a mid-small public. I can think of multiple NFL backs who's HS careers were against better competition and obviously more physically dominant compared to kids they played. Think Earl Campbell (only played 1yr at running back).

Side trivia, but remember the haul the Rams gave to the Titans for that 1st overall pick back in 2016? One of the picks the Rams sent to the Titans was the very same pick used to select Derrick Henry (45th overall in 2016 for those keeping score). Would Henry have worked out without the pep talk from Eddie George, or sitting behind Todd Gurley for a few years before becoming the feature back from the Rams? We may never know.

"2nd round pick because no team wanted RB's" Poor excuse... and he is waaay underpaid. Where's Karl Joseph, Corey Coleman or Keanu Neal now... He was Heisman trophy winner, played in the SEC for one of the teams that players easily transition to the NFL, and was taken behind Ezekiel f'ing Elliot! Idc how dominant EE's first season was. RB's are more important in a league that has dual threat QB's and should be getting fully guaranteed contracts for 2 years considering how short term their production can be. After Saquon's recent resurgence, hopefully the league wakes up. No way should WR's outside of Hill and Jefferson be getting 30+ mil. Adam's gets 28... When Chase is up, i expect him to break the bank but that is it. All the other receivers average and should be taking one for the team considering how sorry their teams are..
