one of the really good curios for Bran (olden seeker relic), has a chance to proc everytime he stops to gather, dig, or loot gold. So I don't care that its only two gold I'm just hoping for the curio proc. also, 1000 is a lot of gold for repairs, I know that there is a bug that is causing some people to have extraordinarily high repairs, you shouldn't be getting anywhere even remotely close to that at the end of a delve.

@@grade14 repair costs are tied to your Armor class. Plate have higher costs then cloth. a 10% (all red) repair on plate can be above 1000gold.

The only problem I see, is they tuned it for raiders and mythic after they abused it. Now they will move on and us, solo players, the main clientele, are left with an overturned mess.

@@madcalibur9410 This might be an unpopular opinion as a solo player, but I think they SHOULD be tuned like that. If min-maxers are able to clear through them for gear while I have to gradually work my gear up to the point that I can do the most rewarding difficulties with my off-meta build, that's no skin off my back. I don't expect to be able to jump into tier 8s week one and start getting the max ilvl stuff. These SHOULD take a while to gear up to start getting the top reward if you're not among the best players in the game. I swear everyone wants content to last for months, but they freak out if they can't immediately blast through it. ETA: not saying these are perfectly - or well - balanced at the moment. There are definitely issues. I just mean philosophically speaking, the most rewarding difficulty shouldn't really be all that doable for the average solo player week 1. You should have to work your way up unless you can just straight outplay it.

If anything they're gonna be way to easy and not really offer any challenge for a solo player who wants to have something to progress through throughout a season.

I totally loved that I got the whole story, didn't have to watch stuff online from dungeons and raids to get the whole story. I experienced it myself, solo, in a way that I like to play and enjoy this game. This has been my favorite part one of an expansion for a long long time.

And being able to do follower dungeons for the quests and story beats in there was great too. But using the delves as a way to really feel like you were progressing the narrative was very very cool. I will PuG dungeons and rids but it's a terrible way to experience the story. I look forward to the solo fight against the final boss too!

As mage I get more success if I focus on kiting and avoiding getting hit at all. Rotating my cc and mobility and such. Still, wish I was a tank, but at least I get my 8s done.

Frost was pretty decent. I was able to solo a 10 at 601. Though it kind of depends on what “hotfixes” are implemented at the time.

Biggest thing with delves is that they need to be doable with every class and spec solo. Not every class has interrupt, poison cleanse, etc. They need to either tone down all of that by tweaking the mobs to do less of those mechanics, or make bran actually be able to tank, dps, and heal (not just the potions, additional actual casted healing)

Another point about the Mage Tower was that it wasn't class agnostic like Delves are supposed to be. Classes were given specific versions of the Mage Tower challenge to complete.

yeah but class dynamic stuff is way harder to make and the delves guy doesn't exactly seem to be a pro-gamer type dev, I doubt that team even knows which specs have interrupts. It is insulting to the Mage Tower to compare it to delves quite frankly. Mage Tower was a work of art by someone(s) with a deep understanding of every class and spec. Delves are just scenarios with a Zaralek-style no loading screen entrance.

I feel like delves should be a ladder system. If it wants you to be item level 600. It should drop 601 or higher. You should never need a higher item level to get in than what it drops. Why would someone with 600 item level want to clear a delve to get item 550 loot? It just doesn't make sense.

You need to do the bountiful version of the delve to get higher ilvl gear with coffer keys. The high level gear is time gated to 7 keys a week with world quests for key shards and weeklys.

Blizzard clearly intended for Delves to be content for solo and duo adventuring time, with Dungeons intended for 3-5 player groups. The uncertainty of what Delves are supposed to be stems from allowing more than 2 players in a delve group - which will continue to be a constant source of balancing issues and scope creep in the future.

A couple related issues: Dungeon gearing in the Great Vault is misaligned relative to Delves, and not offering Heroic/Mythic (but not Mythic+) difficulty in Follower Dungeon mode is creating a gearing roadblock for 3-4 player groups, both issues forcing those player groups into Delves unless they want to queue with random people. In the Great Vault, normal difficulty dungeons (in either mode) should offer Veteran track gear, heroic should offer Champion, and mythic (non-plus) should offer Hero track gear.

The recommended-ilvl-argument doesn't work. I had 585-589 ilvl when the mini bosses were put into level 8 delves and there was absolutely 0 chance that I could have killed the twin bosses solo, even with 600+ ilvl. They had 45 million HP combined and did around 15 million damage to me (before mitigation) in 5 seconds by constantly spamming their abilities. CC outside of curses didn't work (immune to fear and stuns, at least) and even without the 99% damage-shield that forces you to swap between them, there was just 0 chance that I could have ever survived their onslaught long enough to even get either of them to 75% HP or lower. And I was playing a warlock, one of the strongest solo delve-classes.

The worst part of it was the first hot"fix". I was in the middle of a solo Tier 8 Fungal Folly as a Brewmaster Monk at around ilvl 584. I was doing ok being careful with my pulls but progressing ok. I had just taken a short couple of minutes to reset my cooldowns, went to pull the next mob, and got one-shotted for 26.4 million damage. Delve chat started erupting with people experiencing similar issues. After hearing about the blue post, I switched to Windwalker and managed to kill it with touch of death after getting Brann to tank it. I then did a test of my own. the next 2 mobs appeared to be regular mobs. I pulled them as a tank and got hit with 15 million from one mob and 16 million from the other. I then came back as a dps, pulled them, and got hit with only 990k from one mob and 1.2 million from the other. I gave up for the night after that and didn't try again until Saturday. Brutal.

You should have to take your time, use your utility and defensive abilities well, maybe figure out how to skip something. A big problem with delves is that mobs don't respect class utility. Kicked casters don't move, pulsing aoe ignores defensives, crowd control just breaks randomly.

Hi PvP'er here! I love Delves. My arena partner and I can do end game PvE for the first time ever now. I really like the difficulty and hope they actually add more tiers later. For a lot of you guys, this is casual content and Heroic tier is nothing but for a lot of us, this is the only chance we have to get any end game gear. Please don't shorten my season to make your thing just a little faster

Delves feel pretty good as a fury warrior. If you get hit with a damage spike you just hit your "give me all of my health back basically for free" button and you're golden. Honestly, I'm having a lot of fun solo. I can see how most other classes would be reduced to tears by higher diffs, though.

I'm blown away how much my own experience with the delves mimicked the way you described yours. Except I "only" went up to T9. Other than that, almost word for word, could have been the same journey. I also think Delves should be primarily solo, but I also like the idea of being able to duo, trio or quad a delve or dungeon, so I'm a big fan of follower dungeons as well, andI hope they expand on it. The problem is clearly balancing everything. You just have SO many variables to consider. Classes, specs, levels, item levels, gear, mobs, terrain, environment, mechanics, unintended side-effects etc. etc. it will probably never feel perfect, but it's starting to feel pretty good the last day or two after they buffed heal-Brann. Some bosses and elites also still have one-shot mechanics, and that's actually challenging, which makes it rewarding when you figure it out and overcome it. What wasn't fun was the ones that were unavoidable, like webshot, necrotic shot for non-healing classes (in the days when Brann was a terrible healer) the poison etc.

I went into the expansion expecting delves to work just fine solo and they did. I had no problem doing them all in Tier 3 on multiple characters while waiting for Season 1 to start. Thanks to all the constant retuning, I haven't been in one since other than the one required in the Isle of Dorn since Season 1 started. Kind of waiting for Blizz to settle on how they should work and hoping I can continue to solo them.

Ok my theory about ending cinematic is that Xal' isn't exactly doing it for 'fun' for the sake of it, but rather this is therapeutic to her. She just got reminded that she's not in control (not all the time) with Alleria breaking her cool toy, so she's just a little bit extra in the raid end cutscene. She was imprisoned in a dagger for several millenia with very little control over her own fate, I'm sure she's just a little bit touchy about maintaining control at this point. Her really REALLY rubbing it in to a tool she used and abused for her own gain, being in complete control of her, is like her squeezing her stress relief ball.

I was ultimately able to clear every delve I stepped into, albeit with a lot more work after some of the hotfixes. I have to say that the most frustrating part of it for me was not the actual changes, but having the changes suddenly happen in between a couple of delves while I was doing a m0, with no announcement. Just zoning in and suddenly things were absolutely blasting me for no apparent reason. That REALLY sucked.

Not sure exactly when you did the solo delves with Brann doing lots of damage, but that was apparently a bug and Brann is now doing very little damage in all cases even with a 125% buff. So imo, Delves are once again much easier with a full group

In regards to Xal'atath showing up in the final raid cutscene just for kicks, while that's a fun read of her characterization, I do suspect it is actually a part of her end game. The cutscene at the end of the War Within campaign made me think agitating passionate emotions from mortals is fueling the Black Blood, as it sounds like the drive for violence is what it is interacting with less so actual blood spilled in the war with Azj-Kahet. Mining a singular individual for their feelings of betrayal and anger might be a drop in the pond in comparison to setting two empires against one another, but I still interpret her as fanning the flames of whatever is happening with the Black Blood.

Wild that you were able to do 8 delve on a 528 paladin.. I was struggling on my 580 paladin as ret and had to swap to tank and that was also a challenge using constant cooldowns. I then learned how to pull 1 mob at a time and skip mobs not worth doing. Then I was able to start breeznig through delves. For me 8/10 content. It's challenging but doable

One of the most fun things I've done this expansion so far was a t8 delve with a friend. He played spriest, I played hpriest, Brann was dps. It was the one with the lamps you carry around that shrink. We were so squishy, and were pushing ourselves to do it quickly - and the challenge was so much fun! I had to focus so much to keep us alive, felt like healing Heroic raid or M+. I hope they stay challenging at the higher levels!

I did enough Delves high enough to get the lowest level champion from the Great Vault. I got 4/8 veteran gear in my vault instead. So, either I read the chart wrong, or they changed it last minute. As someone who has two fingers amputated this past January, I don't do a lot of group content so I don't ruin other people's Mythic dungeons I thought Delves would be my way to gear up. Now I've started to rethink that completely.

@@lunalane The highest I managed was T6 solo. I made it to the last boss on a T7 but couldn't defeat it. My Beast Master Hunter and Affliction Warlock having less ger then my main had a much easier time then my main an Enhancement Shaman.

@@robertfrederick7125 bm and lock are two of the easiest specs to do delves with as they have innate tank and lots of sustain/cc. Enhancement is not bad either as it has highest funnel dmg and close to tie in terms of st. The issue is that enha is ridiculously difficult compared to other classes for average and below average players (unless using hekili). And their kit is really bloated with different buttons you can spec into. So enha delves are easy if you know what you are doing and spec into what the delve throws at you (poison dispell etc.). But get some gear in m+, pug hc first bosses, mythic etc and you will do higher tiers eventually

the problem with delves is called "goal conflict" blizz had many goals, that were actually conflicting each other. hard solo, doable solo - but also not faceroll in group. get valuable loot -but not too much good loot to not upset raiders have a helpful mate - but not so strong he trivializes everything and then they tried "fixing" the goal conflicts just by tweaking numbers. so in the end, going a delve solo as tank with bran was harder than going delves with 2 dds without bran ... i really liked getting bursted oneshot in my protpally having ardent defender up ... in the end, you had content that was so hard you needed brans support even in a group to get mediocre loot ^^ like they say: "a compromise is good, when everyone is equally upset"

Yep this is exactly it. You cannot please everyone you do have to choose who you're going to please. We already have super hard difficult content for groups we do not need more of it. They should have just made solo mode, Duo mode, and trio mode and then just balance that.

DPS here, last week I could solo 7s, this week I can solo 8s and am considering trying a 9 before the reset. Duoed and grouped as well, but solo is my favorite for now. Thrilled with the difficulty, flexibility, quantity, and variety of the content. Minor quibbles here and there, but I think they nailed it and delivered on what they sold it as. I read the initial tuning issues as just growing pains for a completely new and complex feature. Totally understandable.

You realise that mists are probably one of the fastest dungeons in the rotation? And they are infinitely better designed that those stupid takeshi castle minigame bullshits like the candle dungeon that will be in rota next season etc. Also NW is probably the best dungeon of shadowlands, nice big pulls, mobs casting one spell that you need to interrupt (instead of the absolute retardation of casters spamming spells even after being kicked like in the spider dungeons now). Sure, if we got sanguine depths or spires, it would be horrible, but nw, mots, plaguefall, halls were all decent dungeons.

It's really wild to see some of the responses here. Delves should be for everyone. Solo, two people, a full group. Like they should make play that promotes it all. The issue and one that has been prevalent now for a long while is that they were very bad at balancing this kind of thing. Even the awakened machine stuff had to be nerfed since it's a solo thing. It was never going to be balanced or class agnostic ever at start, they just handled "fixing" it poorly and then shot themselves in the foot like always. I think season 2 will be better but they should just tone it down for now and move on. The damage has been done and I don't think there is a way to walk it back.

I do wish there were more follower options for Delves. I think having multiple types of followers to bring with you would solve a lot of the class-specific challenges at the weaker end.

To be fair, the vast majority of the player base doesn't do M+ and don't raid beyond LFR/Normal, if at all. For the vast majority of players, delves will be THE way they gear. ~65% of players who did M+ didn't do beyond +4s in recent seasons, so even M+ers on the lower end will get gear well beyond their usual means by doing delves. I think that's great. My group had a ton of fun doing delves this week, even despite all the craziness. It also means that delves don't suddenly become useless after this week for the vast majority of players.

The Mage Tower slant is a great angle to approach this with, but as you mentioned, MT wasn’t a main source of gear (gear that has a relative timeframe for which it’ll be replaced). I love the challenge I’ve seen so far, but I don’t know how I feel about pushing bleeding edge “solo” content for replaceable rewards. I have no problem sticking to the 5-6 tier range until I can push 8+ content comfortably. I’m a non-raider gamer dad anyway, so I don’t need heroic track gear. Just below that will make my life easy in the open world.

There was a point where solo tank was bonkers and much harder. The scaling for tanks was not working as intended, I had to go ret to complete them.

I do delves solo (T8 on my hunter but others can only do T7). Unfortunately, there are bugs (like Brann often forgetting to throw potions until AFTER combat, or throwing them to the other side of the room so you die before you get to them) and the difficulty distribution is kinda disastrous (most mob packs are fine, but there are a few mobs that deal STUPID amount of damage, Harbinger-empowered elites that literally 2shot you with a spell spam you can do nothing about solo (you can interrupt like every 14 seconds but the mobs literally chain cast) or Zekvir spawning on you when you're already barely surviving and clobbers you for like 80% of your HP with every hit... And I feel like there's no way you can deal with these solo, you just have to play a class with built-in stealth or buy invisibility potions to skip such to even finish it.... only to get useless loot 90% of the time and basically no other rewards - since the tokens take a good while to save up for.. literally anything, and there's nothing really THAT interesting with Delve vendors in Dornogal anyway

I miss good dps brann. As a healer main and someone who plays different hours than most of my friends it was a nice to be able to do tier 8's on my own time and it not be eventually impossible like torghast got as a healer. I can still do them as of the reset but they take much longer now which is just kind of annoying. Also I didnt even know you could group in delves the whole first week as I figured they were purely solo content.

Man, when I first heard about delves my mind was imagining something like lore-heavy archaeology things full of mobs, cosmetics and some sort of little puzzle aspects like "Have you brought your pickaxe? We need to remove this big boulder to continue" akin to the MoP treasure runs. Sorta like current era content for people who don't raid or do M+ because they'd rather do old dungeons and raids for cosmetics on their own. Turns out its just shitty instances that are 1000% times easier with a group and at the end its just health bars getting fatter. Worthless feature for me, honestly.

At one point, not sure if before or after changes, I was soloing the mushroom one in dorn. And got melee hit by one of the little lasher dudes for 6 million. Oneshot. Was also one shot from full hp by the skittering charge abilitie and my combat log wouldnt even register the dmg, it just said I died.

I agree with everything you said about delves. I play a lot less these days but I like having solo content where I van push myself to higher, challenging levels and not have to spend precious gametime forming groups and dealing with toxic players. Delves right now are great and I hope they just keep improving them. I really just want good enough gear to push delves, not to start raiding hc. As a bonus I'd also like delve chests to be able to drop rare Dirigible customizations and not just tie them to vendors/journey

I would have liked the post-raid cinematic to do at least a *little* follow-up on the plotline of the Dark Heart- It could have been as simple as Xal carrying the cracked but still useful Dark Heart with her, showing that Alleria delayed her plan for it but did not end it entirely, or show her carrying it well and truepy broken, to cement Alleria's success. Or she could've mentioned it, but I can understand that being harder to work into the script. I dunno, I would've liked to havr *just a little bit,* an answer to how much The Dark Heart is still a thing that exists in the plot, I guess, lightly clarifying the previous cinematic alongside doing what this cutscene was actually going for.

As a casual player I am currently on tier 9 at 575, I am getting wrecked at the moment but its fun to be able to utilize my class to the fullest extent, now granted I am a fury warrior so I can see how a 575 mage would fall over pretty hard. But I am enjoying myself and will probably just keep running 8's until I am geared enough to finish 9+ and I am happy with that

I'm very open for suggestions how to set up bran. None of his skills make sense to me. What would be a good setup for a dps-tank? I play with my wife - she is a tank and I am a mage. I never tried to solo that stuff, because I think I will die in seconds. Item-Level is 590. Thanks in advance fam!

My major problem that we're still dealing with in delves is that casters are well and above any other mob in dungeons. Even if they're not spam casting as much, I feel like 1 web bolt shouldn't half health my healer nor take a 3rd of my tank's health. I'm fully okay if that's more a consequence of being undergeared, but my Healer is only about 10 levels under recommended and It feels incredibly punishing when the only true interrupt I have is on a 30 second CD, and my two CC options only cancel the cast for as long as the CC is happening (Pres Evoker). Despite that, I ran enough this past week to get all 3 of my World content slots to 616 gear, because I really just enjoy the ability to get decent gear just by myself. The difficulty doesn't necessarily bother me, but I do think it could stand to be slightly less bursty in solo. Oh, and the seemingly random target assignment of casters and Brann's hitbox for clicks are both super annoying as well.

If I'm playing a hunter or warlock or bean is the one taking then I should not get hit with a cast period because I do not have aggro. I funny it stupid and annoying that I get hit with spells when my pet has full aggro and I hit feign death. Why bother having a pet if the stupid mob hits you instead of your pet, it's just stupid.

They need to stop with the haphazard messing around with it and take a day or two to figure out what the problems are, then take another day or two to implement proper fixes. It's so messed up the supposed new evergreen endgame pillar has been broken since the season started. Embarrassing stuff and it shows their supposed commitment to casual players doesn't even go as far as testing the stuff they're shipping properly.

Delves are an interesting idea but they aren't working well as mini solo dungeons. 1) Delves are incredibly class specific. Some classes can pretty much roflstomp them while others are crawling along, picking things off with extreme care and hoping. 2) Bran doesn't always work properly. Some guildies and I ran some delves as a group because we couldn't get the higher levels by ourselves. Bran was there as a healer and did nothing on several runs. The rest of the runs he threw down healing potions right at our feet so we'd accidentally drink/waste them and activated the healing orb only when we were at full health. Once we started taking damage, he'd just wander off. My ret pally spent a lot of time healing everyone in the delves, which wasn't easy or fun. 3) Blizz has never been able to math well. L70s coming into the expansion being able to roflstomp dungeons and carry L78s through them is just one example. These delves just further show how they have never figured out how to number crunch so things work as expected.

I'm grateful that my Pally friend and I play quite often together so we are duoing Delves. Then when solo, I can run my Paladin through and they are much easier than running a Mage through Delves solo.
