Blizzard Closes Interstate 80 and Interstate 25 in Cheyenne, WY

This is one of the reasons why I don't miss hauling produce from Idaho to Ohio anymore. I spent a lot of time sitting in truck stops and rest areas because of heavy snow and high winds. If anyone wonders why UP 4014 was selected for restoration and moved from California to Cheyenne, when 4004 is there in the park, there was a flood that almost reached the floor of the cab and did a lot of hidden damage to that locomotive. It was cheaper and faster to bring the other locomotive from the fairgrounds in Pomona than it would have been to take 4004 out of the park and tear it apart to replace all of the damaged parts. Many of them would have to be made in Cheyenne, in the machine shop, because the original manufacturers were bought by General Motors and shut down to force the railroads to buy EMD diesels in large quantities, instead of gradually phasing out their steam power.

Northwest Alabama is hot and humid just like summer. This hot air will collide with Blizzard air from north. We can expect many tornadoes can form today. Drive carefully❤
