Well thats basiclly the problem, Matt had the most energy of all of them, Gordon was a great bassist + a good background singer and percussionists. The replacements are good, but lack the energy. It's like Blink without Mark and Travis and with only Tom left: they would be an ok band, but not as great as they have been or as they are now.

This might be the best performance I've ever seen by anyone. The perfect tempo and timing. The chemistry between each member. The call and response with any given pair of instruments. The sheer PASSION of the delivery. It's an absolute joy and a pleasure to watch and listen to this. I really, REALLY hope someday I can listen to another record or go to a Bloc Party gig with Matt Tong on drums and Gordon Moakes on bass.

bloodyleech lol what? The drums speed up and slow down a lot, Gordon struggles to play along to Matt’s inconsistencies, Matt also simplifies a lot (most likely cause he’s nervous). The guitar playing and singing are great though.

@@drumsonly44 that's a touch harsh (I'm a drummer - maybe you are ?) - I just did a quick metronome exercise - song starts at 182 PM and rises steadily to a max of 189 bpm (approx) with some fluctuation in between. I reckon that's quite consistent given they are not playing to a click track. Drummer is under pressure of tv, loaded with adrenaline and maybe nerves (and it's a VERY lively paced song) - and by God I think it's an AWSOME performance 😉😉 These guys are TIGHT

toby mcmillan lol what? the drumming is not tight at all, Matt’s playing slows down and speeds up and is a lot simpler than the album version, a lot of single kick hits instead of doubles (most likely cause he’s nervous or they’re playing it too fast)

The drumming may be a little up and down, but the band keep up with it, all of the call and response between the guitars flow nicely and everything fits. There's click track time and there's relative time, and these guys definitely have fantastic time relative to eachother. Stuff like this bands FEEL way more interesting than bands who all play to clicks live.
