Awesome concept for a video, and much needed! I'm one of those who still hasn't figured out inktense. I don't hate it, but I still really struggle to figure out how to work with it. My pet peeve is when people say "it's ink in pencil form." No. No, it's not. HOW does it behave in any way at all like ink? I think it's closest to gouache, and you're the first person I've heard say that! But - it's still not gouache. I haven't given up on them, but I haven't figured them out yet. Art Graf is also puzzling, but I do love them. I mainly work with them on black paper because they are so opaque! Mostly animal subjects, so I make the most of that earth tone set. Also, they layer differently than watercolor, so you don't get blooms. And while the pigment in mass tone is VERY intense and opaque, they tint down quickly. They're weird, but lovely. I have graphitint pans and the charcoal tint pencils - but I almost never use them. It's kind of amazing to see how they all look so similar in the end. But the painting experience for each is very different.

Hi, thank you. Actually Inktense and the Artgraf earth set would be a great combo, because Inktense could use some good browns and Artgraf lacks the vibrancy that I like, so I'm actually planning to combine them in the future. They are all quite similar in the end.

I really like the way you do comparison videos. Very informative. I bought the Artgraf based on your review and thefrugalcrafter, but I have yet to use them. So far I’ve held off on the inktense blocks, I have the pans and pencils. Your work with them is just top notch. I think I like the artgraf, followed by the inktense, with the graphite last, but they were all very cool

I struggle with inktense and have lately realized that inktense demands the right paper and technique. Alex Boon has done a video that tells the story of his journey with inktense in a sketchbook that he devoted to it. Another aspect of your videos that I particularly appreciate is your quiet regard for the viewer. You allow silent pauses between your comments for the viewer to reflect on what you've just said and your delivery of verbal commentary is calm and relaxing. Thank you!

I really love your comparison videos! And thank you for sharing your opinion about these medias, I was thinking about buying primaries by Viarco, but now I think I’d better consider buying the set you used in this video.

Thank you for watching 😊🌸 the primaries are saturated and juicy without mixing, but when it comes to making secondaries, they are not the best. I would much rather have smaller blocks, but in more colours, than having three giant primaries that don't mix particularly well.
