Hi we also have the 1.5 DCI ON THE Renault Megane III and was told that the DPF was blocked and a regen was not possible. We were told that the only option was to replace the DPF but after a quick look on KZbin, I came across your video and thought I would give it a go. After leaving it soaking in the solution for about seven hours, then flushing, the power is back to normal and so is my mind!! It's videos like this that save people so much money, gives them confidence to try it themselves too with the step by step guide that you show. Just wanted to say a massive thanks!

Great job tackling this job yourself! Top notch video! A few DPF tips to keep your DPF healthy for anyone watching: 1) Get check engine light problems solved promptly! Even issues seemly unrelated to the exhaust system can disable the re-gen system (Mine was an air intake sensor) 2) Some cars disable the re-gen system if service is overdue (The indicator on the dash, doesn't matter if the service has been physically carried out) 3) More RPM DOES NOT = more heat. Your motor screaming down the motorway or local roads at over 3000rpm just sounds like you're blasting all the gunk free.. Sadly the DPF functions much like an oven, you need to let it "bake" on high heat. I can't speak for all engines but most generate the most heat (in the exhaust) at lower RPMs with efficient burns. Some even disable re-gen completely at higher RPMs in an attempt to give you more power or because the temperature isn't high enough to properly re-gen. _A gentle cruise down the motorway at a consistent speed for 15ish minutes should be all that's needed. If you can include this into your commute or of a weekend adventure you should never need to worry!_

Can a bad sensor stop a regeneration? I have a suzuki swift 1.3 ddis and thw dpf light went on .. after some time a day before i decided to clean it the turbocharger blew and thw car went full rpm.. now i had turbo to change too.. any ideas if the DPF was the fault in this or some sensor disn't respond and all that 40min driving to regerenerate was for nothing..
@Azurren
@Azurren Жыл бұрын
@@revilo9224 I can't speak for specific models but the majority will disable regen if anything triggers a check engine code. Having a dedicated dpf light is a nice to have, if it's illuminated the dpf won't regen regardless of how long or far you drive. It's hard to say if one thing led to another, most cars would go into limp mode as the dpf blockage increases. It's unlikely the blocked dpf caused your turbo to go, however a failing turbo may have expelled oil into the exhaust system leading to fouled sensors and disabling of the dpf.

We’ve got the same generation car, 1.6dCi diesel and same use case. We have had about three cleans in the first two years of Covid lockdowns. Things improved when we changed the original 12V battery. A search of the QQ forums confirms this as a first step. However it’s happened again and the battery is testing ok on my multimeter. Giving it an “Italian service” when the yellow light is on is recommended to get the regen going, but it’s never worked for me previously, possibly due to the 12V on the way out and the ECU stopping this function? Anyway it’s now on the red ligh, which means it needs a proper clean, which led me here! My wife now understands the mess in the filter and the cause :-) We’re definitely going to get shot of the car after cleaning the DPF. Simple small petrol or BEV will suit the low miles about town.

When the dpf gets clocked up all the time, especially in 2 years of time only (even with citydriving), there is generally an another issue that causes it, things like leaking injectors, bad egr (as mentioned earlier) can cause it and other things too. So there is generally a fundamental issue with the car that causes the dpf to clog up.

Needs a good thrashing and probably needs a firmware update to allow the DPF cleaning to happen when there's less than 1/2 a tank as lots of folk don't fill up to top. Short trips are the main cause though, secondary is missing out on servicing which also kills the oxygen sensor from the additives in the oil getting past seals and into the cylinders. I wouldn't bother with a diesel if I were making short trips, it will never pay for itself.

That's an old wives tale. I ran my low mileage immaculate and always fully serviced Golf TDI on Shell V Power only for years. Still had an injector fail. Ran it on a mix of supermarket and regular diesel since with no issues.

Supermarket fuel is same as branded... Worked at refinery for 20 yrs incl spell on road loading we supplied our own stations, I dependants and multiple supermarkets... All from exactly the same tank. V power / supreme etc is different they are higher cetane index grade and have their own detergents flow improves etc depending on the oil company. Problems such as you refer to are usually due to less than perfect garage tanks husbandry or grounded water ingress / seepage. Line samples are taken preloading tanker as well as refinery storage tank s. Contrary to urban myth at refineries we don't keep a tank of the goid stuff for our brand and a tank of dregs for. supermarkets. Handy hint... Supreme etc is expensive but cleaner and should return better mpg. Using a proper fuel additive will achieve the same results ie boost cetane index of regular diesel to supreme equiviant and provide required detergents etc to clean inj. System and help keep egr and dfp cleaner. There are a lot of snake oil products on market that are better than nothing but provide mediocre to average performance ie a feel good product. I use Archoil AR6900 - max advanced which costs about £24 for a litre. Add 10 ml per 10 ltrs of regular not supreme fuel to tank before filling tank. Works out way cheaper than buying supreme fuel. More mpg and a healthier inj / Inlet exhaust system

We in Russia make it easier so as not to shoot many times. When we remove the particulate filter for the first time, a hole is drilled in the upper part and a bolt thread is cut to honeycombs, and after the honeycombs, the bottom is the same bolt hole.For the first time with the removal of the filter, I wash it like in the video. And then if the lamp lights up again, unscrew the upper bolt and fill in the cleaning fluid. After a day or according to the instructions, drain through the bottom Also then fill the flush and drain.We tighten the bolts - the job is done. Use Russian life hacks.

It won't regen if it's too blocked, however it is good to use as a preventative measure. I run Forscan regen on mine every fortnight during the winter months as I don't use the car as much and its all short trips. It regens weekly by itself at this time of year because I'm always out

You can't burn ash .Ash is the residue of regenerations that burn the soot. If you start with a perfectly clean DPF ,when the soot builds up it does a regen which burns the soot and will leave ash in the DPF ..so the more regens it does the more ash there will be..If your DPF is filling to quick you may have an issue on the EGR side

Had a 3.0 turbo d BMW nacker a dpf so got removed remapped and great till it failed the MOT no dpf there so back a new dpf went and remap standard at considerable expense.. 1000miles later the dpf warns it's getting blocked and anyway I found out the glow plug relay fails and stops regens so the door blocks eventually ,got a new relay and glow plugs and that solved it...moral of the story it's not always the dpf fault it's getting blocked

@@bigjohnfury5662 DPF blocked is often the symptom of another problem. Should have brought the car to NI for MOT. Diesel emissions aren't tested here. Loads of cars have their DPFs drilled & warning lights mapped out

@@norb0254 The engine oils contain additives which get passed into the exhaust system in small amounts. Oils for DPF equipped cars are usually a low ash oil meaning the additives do not produce a lot of ash when burned( metallic additives to control wear and deposits called SAPS (Sulphated ash, phosphorous and sulfur ) . Of course lots of idling or engine acceleration will clog up the DPF quicker than steady driving and the fuel quality has a hand too.
