Heres a little story for you. i used to work for a marquee hire company. We used a Hitachi rock breaker with a cup fitting and generator to drive in the 700 mm long, 22 mm diameter pins to hold the marquee ropes down. We had a map provided to us showing the locations of the drains and cables were on a site. we were setting up a 6x9 m marquee . One of the guys drove a pin dead centre into the 1in watermain going into this event centre. The ground rose and he took a step back then it burst out of the ground spraying water and mud every where. Quite impressive. The garden staff came over and had a go at us for wrecking the place. It took them 40 minutes to find the valve to shut it off. It went from a nicely mowen lawn area to a bomb site in less than a minute. It wasn't where the map said it was either. LOL We had the marquee in the right place on the map but the mains were 6 metres off where the map said they were. The valve was buried half a metre down in a raised garden. The plumber turned up with a metal detector in his van luckily. One of the electricians turned up with one a few minutes later. We had to phone up the shop and get them to run another set of vinyl walls and roof sections as the other ones were covered in mud. So now we had to move the marquee to a different part of the event centre with about another 10 or so other trade displays. The map had been taken off the original plans for the place and no one had corrected them.

its never quite where they say it is.

Hm, that a lot of people who didnt do their job right then. 😂 Either the ones who laid the pipes or the ones who made the plan, and the people who thought burying the valve was a good idea. In a better world, the map would have been right/pipes laid accordingly AND the valve should have been placed somewhere where its easily accessible, even when raising the yard.

Why do people not put an extension on the access instead of burying it under 2ft of soil
@James_Bowie5 жыл бұрын
Answer: landscapers.
@thenextstepp5 жыл бұрын
@@James_Bowie there's alot of truth to that! I have had so many projects where the clients opt out of doing all of the landscaping during the initial phase (mainly due to budget constraints) and each and every time they've had a landscaper come in and finish things later we have run into problems. Everything from covered cleanouts, covered control boxes, crushed piping, etc etc.
@James_Bowie5 жыл бұрын
@@thenextstepp I've known a few short term landscapers. Their team of casual 'workers' usually signed on for a few days and then quit because the work was too hard. Totally clueless: Dump soil and rock anywhere, install ag drains that aren't anything like a drain, plant totally inappropriate trees, lay pavers without road base, ... the list is endless.
@gbowne15 жыл бұрын
this is why we hire landscapers that have been around a few decades.
@_Obey_5 жыл бұрын
I dont think landscapers in Switzerland have to deal with those access points and similar. Good for them I guess 😂 And at least from the looks, I actually like what the landscapers did in this frontyard. I can kinda relate to them, they are just (under)paid to make gardens look nice and according to customers wish, I guess they dont even have the authority to look out for drains and such. Usually its the bosses who say for what's to care and what's "not your job/problem."

Collapsed boundary trap only thing Drain Addict gets defeated by.
@bizbouk5 жыл бұрын
Hi! In the uk we don’t have boundary traps! Can you explain a couple of things? 1: why are your access drains not easily accessible? 2: and what is a boundary trap? Thanks Darren
@retrowarriors83295 жыл бұрын
The drain was not accessible because some landscaper decided to plant a tree right there and then bury it with 3 feet of rocks right on top of the clean out without extending it up 3 feet so it sticks up through the surface of the ground and if I’m not mistaken in a boundary trap is basically a U-shaped trap that goes at the boundary of your property separating the street sewer from your main sewer line

How do you know it has collapsed? Is it by feel, the lack of draining? 💚💚

Feel, lack of draining and the colour of the water. The pipe was buried in clay soil and when the pipe broke, the clay got into the water, turning it that silver-grey-blue colour.

I've always wondered - do you guys carry spare covers/lids? Or do you "suggest" that they get a plumber in?
@ChannelReuploads94515 жыл бұрын
Not the way he had to hammer the cover......, The Clay pipe collapsed, so the entire run to the house has to be replaced with PVC, What is the bet that they leave an access hatch above ground level, not buried under a foot of dirt and shingle. Most of that front garden is going bye bye. DA does the blockage clearing or finding the collapse, other contractors will have to come and do the fun work.
