Hi, just saw your video. Did exactly. The same thing. Initially went for the fat bob. HD offered for me to choose for an other bike on the way back selected the Breakout. And here I am. Loved so much the BO that I bought one ! Absolutely a great ride. Fat bob is good too but to light for me in the front.

People who go in with expectations will always have something to complain about. As long as you don't compare them to anything else, they look great on their own merits. My prediction is by the end of this year, once people start seeing them more, that their attitudes will change.

@Ticky Tocky Maybe...but you are comparing apples with tomatoes....Harleydavidson motorcycle nowadays are comparable to ANY bike ...the only thing is the price I think harley are overpriced BUT they do hold value....I would never buy a Japanese bike...not because they are not good bikes but becuz they devalued like crazy...AND THE REASON u customize a Harley it's not to make it look Japanese...its an expression of yourself...

For me my 1998 evolution works fine. It will keep me on two wheels till I am done riding. Harley has to change for the ones who will buy their bikes now and in the future. Got my first one in 1975.

I have never considered riding a Harley until now. I know you die hards LOVE the old school Harley tradition but how long can you keep doing the same thing and still attract the younger generation coming up? Things need to change man. Those older models will always be available to be purchased used because there is a million of them out there. Like I said, first time I find any Harley attractive. I think this is what Harley is trying to accomplish. When the Dyna series came out, everyone cried how they hated it. Now that it's gone everyone is complaining that it's gone. Give them a chance. These new bikes are sexy AF.

Great comments around 7:00 about what we're all attracted to, as far as styling. I don't like Dyna's or the Fat Bob, but love the ol' High Tank Bobber look, and the older Indian Scout's from the 1950's, which is where my mind starts to go. Love the Breakouts. Other's love the Dyna's, and think the new Breakout's look like garbage. One of my business partners, is looking at the Fat Bob. We're all different. As it should be.

I still prefer the look of my '13 Breakout (Daymaker, CVO speedo swap) but would love to shoehorn that 114 into it....super sweet engine. Other than the smaller - and ugly - peanut tank I like what Harley has done to the new Breakout's.

@BLOCKHEAD I have a dyna low rider s as well, love the bike. Just curious tho man, was the 114 all that faster, and was it as flickable as the low rider s? I get they redesigned the softail frame but i couldnt imagine it being "sportier" than a dyna frame, just a smoother ride I would think.

Which one did you like, the Fatbob or the breakout?
@warlok97 жыл бұрын
I went to see the new lineup Saturday, mainly for these two bikes. Been looking for a reason to give Harley a try. Not very impressed. Look better in photos. The Fatbob especially doesn't look like a $16k+ bike. The managers were doing acceleration runs up and down the parking lot and all the Harley faithful were gushing, ohhhing and awwwing. I had a good laugh to myself as I threw a leg over my FZ09 that would smoke the shit out of either of those bikes at a third of the price (of the Breakout). I know it's not all about power, you buy a Harley for the character and attitude. And that's part of the problem for many riders, I don't want to be "that guy", waking his neighbors with his fart exhaust with a bandana for a helmet and his chin in the air.

The new engines are big! I own a V-Rod now, I’m really wondering how it compares performance wise.
@barackblows19425 жыл бұрын
Ceko I traded my 2012 V-Rod Muscle for a 2019 FXBRS 114. The BO has about 30-hp less than the V-Rod but the torque feels about the same. I would imagine that the V-Rod has a higher top end speed. I had 43,000-miles on my Muscle without ever getting the valve lash adjustment and was ready for an upgrade. If Harley still made the Muscle I would have bought another one instead. I love the 240mm rear tire so the BO was my second choice. I was pleasantly surprised that they gave me $8k for my Muscle on trade although I wish I still had it. Maybe I’ll go buy it back and keep both.🤡

How is the turning with the Breakout? I've heard people complaining about turning on corners/curves saying it handles like a boat. seems like you had no issue.
@joeglenn73237 жыл бұрын
I'm no expert, but I play one on the web... All joking aside, I have been trying to learn a bit more about some of the issues good and bad regarding some of the HD bikes. I like both the Fat Bob and the Breakout. Styling wise, I like the Breakout more. From what I've read a significant part of the handling issue with the 2017 and prior Breakouts can be linked to the stock tires. Many have changed tire brands and the profile of the front tire and say it makes a world of difference. HD changed the tires, in addition to just about everything else, for 2018 and the bike is said to handle/turn much better.

The bikes look good. The only thing I can see to maybe complain about is the gage. At one point in the 2 videos I watched the gage vibration made it unreadable but that could have been camera vibration. To be honest if that is the only thing people really have a problem with how hard would it be to change it out with an after market one.

I like the oil cooler and it having a stiffer frame. If like you said it has the tire psi indicators that would be awesome. Rake is 1 deg less and bike is 2.5" shorter. I dont think a 3.5gal over the 5gal tank is a good idea. I always feel like im stopping for gas. Looks cheap in a way...Is it all Metric now? I didnt buy an HD for smooth. I want it to rattle me and my ears.Did the Tire Shredder on mine, so i might not notice the power of a 114 as much as the old bike. cant wait to test ride one.

As before on the Fat Bob, the broomstick drag bars add nothing good to the looks or handling of the '18 Breakout. Outside of the Lazy-Boy forward pegs, it's still one of my favorite H-D's. The longer wheelbase gets rid of the stubby front end look on other models.

The proportions of these new Harleys are a little awkward, though also waiting to see what the aftermarket will do. The biggest thing for me is the sound. Maybe it doesn't come across with the helmet mic, but it's not the aggressive, rhythmic uneven "potato-potato" sound Harley's are known for, and they're starting to get that intake whine that is an unfortunate side effect of modern engines.
