Let's all admit that we read it mainly to see the protectiveness of Remo and Nevio. I was literally screaming inside when i read Remo's pov. Like we still want to see the family together, the bond!. I am also still in love with their parents AKA The Commora chronicles. And i also feel that greta didn't put much effort in her realationship it's true. Like there was something missing from her side like amo literally put his life in danger just for her. Anyway It doesn't reach that much of an expectation but it was good yaah! Waiting for By fenzy i Ruin...

The fact that Serafina wasn't mentioned a lot was bull shit. Remo really does not deserve her & I still hate how because of Greta, 2 mafia families made peace but not cuz of Serafina?! Like she couldn't see any of her own family cuz she chose her kids.

Also most of the times remo never felt to concern fina about greta being stabbed and said she couldn't have done anything like why ?? .The whole compassion between them was missing like the way luca adores aria .

@@tanishajawale4600 there wasn't compassion even in Twisted Pride. That book for me was Serafina sacrificing her whole life for Remo. She had to be separated from her twin. I wish the book could've ended with a pact with the Outfit & Cammorra. But Cora did that for Greta. Plus I still feel bad for Serafina's family. What they had to endure.

OMG girl you said it ALL !! My exact thoughts !! The nonsense insta love thing, the lack of charism of the second g, the unecessary marriage trope, the war which isn't a real war, everything !! (Except I personnally was really mad at Luca after chapter 17, he was very hypocrite in my opinion but hey it did make for an amazing action scene). But yeah it's by far the best of the new series so far and it gave me some hope again even if I know that it will never level up to her other series

I would have loved it, because of the dynamic between Amo, Greta, and Nevio. I love the scene in the Sugartrap and after the wedding. I love how Nevio and Greta had to grow. I love that Amo grew balls and held Greta to task. I was hoping he’d kill Cressida at the beginning, but he was taught not to brutalize women.

Her family chose not to be in her life anymore besides how can you make peace with someone who kidnapped your niece? Like I love Remo so much but I know he was wrong In doing that. There's a point of no return between the Camorra and the Outfit and it seems logical for them not to make peace with each other.

I felt similarly to a lot of the points you made. I was reading more for the two families than for Amo + Greta. Insta love doesn't really work for me b/c I like to see the push + pull btwn two characters and there's none of that when it's insta love. Anyway, loved the family snippets we did get of Valerio, Gemma, Kiara and Aurora.

Loved the book because I got to catch up with the parents. I think Greta deserved her own brand new husband. That storyline was unnecessary. Taking away her ability to have kids was unforgiveable. There is no way those kids would ever be accepted and the son would be Capo.

Greta surprise to me in bad way. AmoGreta doesn't attract me as a couple, I read the story and I qualified it well for the Falcons, my favorite couples are falcons, I'm looking forward to the unholy trinity books, those three guys books.

I agree with you 100% i wanted to see how Amo will be as a capo not Luca.We already have seen Luca as a Capo in so many previous books. I was reading and expecting that Luca will die or atleast retire and we will get to see how Amo will rule as capo.Also with Greta and Amo I see them only as their parent's kids there is nothing special about them except their dads.They don't have same trauma and struggles and like you mentioned Greta 's personality was meant to be something like Nino but there was no justification for that why it was like that and it didn't make sense becoz they were so protected and loved same for nevio(although I love him becoz he is mini Remo) and even after so much drama when war broke out b/w New York and Las Vegas for one FUC*KING year no one died like wtaf. if Cora keeps writing like this we will be reading about 1st gen's grandkids and still Luca will capo and as strong,brutual,muscular as he was in Bound by honor I still rated the book 4 stars though

I did enjoy By Fate I Conquer but I enjoyed seeing the side characters rather than the main romance. For me Amo and Greta’s love was just way too much instalove and clearly love at first sight does not work for me. One look and it was love and I need romantic development. I did love seeing Luca, Remo, Fabiano and Nino. That said I have lowered my expectations so I’m not expecting the same level as the first generation books that I reread over and over again. I will continue with the series because I do love the side characters and I just can’t let the world go. I would prefer Cora to write the standalones in this mafia world she wants to write rather than the second gen. I am looking forward to Leonas’ book though. I do love the family dynamics and I still don’t think you can read this series as standalones. I am a little nervous for Nevios book mainly because he is so crazy I just don’t know if I’ll enjoy that. I gave these three stars because I enjoyed the side characters more than the main romance but I do think Cora has found her voice again. I am looking forward to the Camorra Anthology. The unholy trinity is psychotic which I struggle with because they have had amazing childhoods so why are they crazier than the first generation men. I hope Cora doesn’t do third generation like some people want because then the original guys will be dead. Yeah she is not wrapping this series up anytime soon, nearly every child from the first generation is getting a book and she has about 10 standalones in this world to write. I’d get the discreet covers.

@@PriyanshuRay-lj5wn apparently it’s going to include novellas involving the Camorra. So at least one novella on Fina and Remo. It will be like the Bound by Blood anthology but with the Camorra. So people think there will be a novella for Fabiano/Leona, Nino/Kiara and one on Savio/Gemma and if the couples have any more kids. Cora hasn’t said when she will write it and published it yet.

GIRLLL I agree with everything you said about what you disliked about the book. I also don't like love at first sight, because the lengths they go through to be together and the risks they take don't feel grounded. Like.. you knew this person for 1 second and you're willing to risk your future for them? But yeah, I loved Amo and Greta, their love felt legit despite it being love at first sight. And YEAHHHH I 100% agree that Amo was not as brutal ad Luca, although I do think his softer nature was very similar to Luca's, like the way they treat Aria and Greta. It really did feel like it was Luca's son. And OMG YEAH I agree about Amo not holding Greta accountable.... Like dude risks EVERYTHING for her and she risks nothing for him. Then when she needed him, he was there again in a flash. I love how I always have a similar opinion to you about books 😭😭 Love ya 💕

This was the best one of the second gen. I waited so long maybe it couldn’t live up to my expectations. I got hooked on the Camorra Chronicles and the Bound by series and this is like the new LJ Shens I’m not enamored. Sophie Lark’s 2nd gen rocked.

I think By Fate I conquer was mid tbh. I was expecting a deeper enemies to lovers arc. Greta seemed so easy to give in. I wanted a little more war too, a little more mob stuff between both the camorra & famiglia maybe Nevio coulve done worse or something idek. -> in relation to amo I just think the book couldve been a little darker. it was to sunshine and rainbows.

I used to be like that but then I read the next generation series of the Buttons and Lace series by Penelope Sky entitled "Beyond Buttons" series. It Follows the kids of the Barsetti brothers from original series and OMG. One of my all time favorite love stories is between Vanessa and Bones (Their story starts with book 5). It is truly Enemies to Lovers/ Forbidden. So, now I'll give it a chance if I love the world and not ready to say goodbye.

Why their relationship is so forbidden. We're talking Romeo and Juliet level sh*t here! Have you read the Buttons and Lace? It's older.

I wholeheartedly argue with your review. I gave the first 3 books a 3 stars because they fell a bit too flat for me. I gave this 4.2 stars it's the best so far in the next gen. I can't see any of the heroes as book boyfriends in the next gen they all read like newphews or little lol maybe because nino is my book boyfriend 😅. I think Greta was suppose to be "I'm not like other girls / I'm somewhere on the autism spectrum". I'm not sure I would give the same rating if I wasn't already attached to the falcones. Most of my appreciation from this book was because I'm in love with madmen from Vegas and wanted to see if the family dynamics would remain the same and how that would influence all their kids. I love how I saw glimpses of all kids and what they were like especially nevio. I wished they had shown Cressida's death on page among a few other things I also though were unnecessary like a Amo's marriage but overall it was very good for me. @ moretomary

I agree about the constant threat of war breaking out... Like listen, I LOVE that and all but it's getting old. IMAGINE, JUST IMAGINE an external threat, idk OUTSIDE the Italian mafia families that threaten one or two families and they WORK TOGETHER to overcome the threat. Like HELLO that would be different and new and exciting and dramatic. Like don't ask me how it would work I'm not a mafia romance writer, but Cora could figure something out. I just need something NEW AND DRAMATIC AND EXCITING AND ACTION PACKED

Despite not having action, I prefer By Virtue I Fall so far. I didn't like the BFIC. The amogreta romance was so poorly developed. Something so instantaneous. So the events involving the couple make no sense to me. Like why all this fuss over this romance that can't show me the truth in this couple's relationship?🙈 * The author is failing to balance the romance and mafia action in these SOTF books.

Im the same!! Im a huge fan of the Born in blood and Twisted series and the best parts were all the family elements in it and even then it was way too little for my taste!! I havent read this one yet but like you i was sorely dissappointed in these next gen series that i honestly think somethings gone wrong with Cora reilly lol!! im also so sad as a fan. I think this book is better is because youve got Luca's main family and Twisted main family as the mmcs. But honestly the next gent characters and stories so far definitely are not up to par like their parents books and its unfortunate since their books should be much better and well developed! I also was worried about who the couples will be. I think we can all agree on Marcella's book being a great disappointment in that. I AGREE this series are not the best and alot of it being read and scored high is because of our HOTTIE LUCA and REMO!! Our original men are legendary and their children will never reach it!!

I genuinely was there for the trinity and valerio… like does luca not tell the kids or are they that clueless that their dad cheated on their mother? Like she was still very effected when amo told. And amo i guess she wrote him to be a soft yet brutal man like a man who wouldnt be afraid to be weak, vulnearble and breakable in front of the people he loves. I understand the Cressida part but like why did Luca have to force him to marry her when clearly he states he loves Greta.Also can we please talk about how abusive Cressida is to Amo???? And Greta i wish she took more responsibility and took risks. she initiates most of the action even though she knows he is engaged, they go back and forth and but she plays the sad that irritates me now like you both played a part… i am sorry i cant feel bad for you when you lose the man you live to the woman he is promised to but then i ended up loving them. When i read the arc and published my review i was in a daze but now i can see but this was Coras best book in the series. I expected less than what I got ngl cuz the first three books were not what i expected and hopefully the other books pick up.

Lol love what you said about the mafia wars constantly breaking out, but no one has been killed except for nameless soldiers. This book has a literal shoot out with most of the main males present and no one even got shot. Are we supposed to believe they all have bad aim all of a sudden? The worst thing that happened was Kiara got a concussion, omg. One or two people could’ve at least been hit by a bullet and survived.

I read By Fate I Conquer because I really like Luca and Aria and their character development. However I am not a fan of the second generation books so far. I feel a lot of this is because Cora Reilly plays favourites and as such she makes certain families/characters go through trials and tribulations whilst others are spared. This does not create a realistic mafia world. What I enjoyed about this book was Amos love and deep passion for Greta. He really was so passionate and devoted and I love that in a character. Greta in my opinion was written very inconsistently. I know she is meant to be on the autistic spectrum however she never strikes me as that devoted to Amo. Also she seems very childish, throughout the story and at times she comes across as deeply unpleasant and this is very evident in her actions. I also loved seeing the positive affect Luca/ Arias love story has had on their children. That had left a truly beautiful legacy. Okay the negatives, Cressida was too much a cartoon villain, completely unrealistic in that world. The power she wielded (as a female)was not in anyway realistic and to be honest her manipulations made the Familigia look very weak. But often I find that CR writes female villains as completely beyond the pale, she does not give them the nuance and depth that she gives the male villains. Also as others mentioned it does not seem plausible given Nevios childhood that he is more unstable than Remo. Again Nevio is seen as just a younger copy of Remo without the complexities and challenges Remo faced. Remo had a horrendous childhood and had the added responsibility of caring/providing and guarding his younger brothers. I know the Falcone madness trope is explored but it seems too clichéd and Nevios character is also very cartoon like. Also this idea he could waltz into enemy territory like something out of Batman is ridiculous. I personally think Cora should stick with the first generation because inevitebly the second generation come up lacking. I really like Cora Reillys mafia world but won't read any more of the second generation books.

I would love to read more of the first generation. A lot of people say to read it without giving a lot of mind to first generation but they don't understand what makes this series so special is the dynamic of their parents. I'm gonna continue reading because i wanna se where the story goes and the glimpses of the og characters but i don't have high hopes.

It was good...but not that good. There is soooooooo much hype with the upcoming generations that we make up our own theories and imagine what happens in their perspective that when we read Cora's version it leaves us disappointed. I will not be expecting or assuming anymore for the upcoming books. I agree that the kids are definitely more "soft" than their parents. Cora has labeled this book as "dark" but it's really not...I mean for me. I think Cora should have released the standalones from the previous generation that we were introduced to than the next generation. (Books like Samuel, The Madman from LA, etc.)
