As a young woman, I really appreciate all the Biblical wisdom you provide on topics that are so relevant and important. It is a shame that so many in our day and age have no understanding of what a "Covenant" truly is, and instead have replaced this with fleeting emotions that have no responsibility attached. May the Lord open the eyes of many to see His order, His design, and His desire since the beginning of time.

Marriage is not a simple contract between two people, it is so much more...it is not only a covenant before God, it is a covenant established BY God. So simple, but so profound in its depth, implications, and consequences. Maranatha!

Thanks, Doug. In trying to rebut the feminists, I had thought about it as if marriage is not a financial transaction in exchange for sex, and there may be a component of that, but this helps to not be overly shy about admitting a sexual and financial transactional aspect to marriage

Loved the precision and honesty especially about the concrete foundation, I needed to hear that! Also combining resources is a form of intimacy and trust it has "oneness" to it. How else you going to buy a home? How else are you going to live in harmony? Would you want the annoyance of always trying to split everything 50/50? Where is the spirit of sharing? This reality is only scary because we humans tend to hold our promises lightly. May God help us keep our promises!

Oh boy, I wonder how many older people are looking back and realize that their foundation that suppose to be poured out by their parents, grandparents, pastors or some figure in their local authority that suppose to do the job right, didn't do that job and that little child was raised by the strangers. I clearly remember when I barely learned to read in school and I was pointing out in scriptures the difference between what the scriptures says and what we were actually doing. I was immediately shut up by everyone around me multiple times. Yes I was forced to go in a way that was not good. That's what people do in authority today too. Instead of doing God's will, they force everyone around them to do their OWN will. Look around, from the two people maried all the way to the top G7 leaders and everyone in between, they are doing THEIR OWN WILL. And here comes the BIGGEST problem: if you as a living human being (both, male or female), if you are not married to God you are doing your OWN will. Yes that's right, most people think they do God's will when they marry the person of THEIR OWN CHOICE. Obviously people don't realize that each human is a living temple: some are God's temple, and some are devil's temple. If you marry devil's temple, what makes you think that all hell is not going to break lose??? The first priority for anyone considering marriage should be to gather evidence of the other person to see if the other person is indeed looking to put in practice GOD'S WILL. Just keep in mind that a man can poorly do a woman's job, and also a woman can poorly do a man's job and also don't forget that some jobs can only be done by men and some jobs are only done by women and they can't be switched around between a man and woman (the biology is just not there). Considering marriage? Consider how you can support the person you marry to accomplish God's WILL. Then everyone can focus on the SAME task: doing GOD'S WILL.

I agree with Mr. Wilson, but I would like to add that if a couple doesn't have children and are considering divorce, they should not be having sex (temporarily) until they can deal with their marital problems. I don't think it is wise to continue having sex with someone you don't want to be with (or doesn't want to be with you) and possibly bring children into that situation. Seek help, have open, and heartfelt communication about the issues, and remember why you got married in the first place.

Love has nothing to do with you. Love is selfless and sacrificial. Love serves. "Love YHWY first and foremost" Then "Love your neighbor like yourself" But understand... "Deny yourself and pick up your cross" Because "He who loves the world has no love of the Father YHWY" And "He who loves his life will lose it, but he who loses his life for my sake (Jesus Christ) will gain eternal life." Do that first, and you'll probably have a great marriage... You gotta start at the beginning to build a solid foundational understanding.

It's interesting statement sex with a prostitute isn't quite nearly enough sex or enough money ? But I'm willing to bet there's a lot of people in marriages that would argue that point ? At least statistically it's about 25% of marriages. And as is the modern world goes, I think marriage works out much better for the men than it does for the woman.

Marriage works out better for men, and divorce works out better for women, in the modern world. Have you head of divorce rape? Anyway the devil likes to pit men against women so watch out for that sort of thing.

@@jacksonstenhouse4429 Questions is why are wives divorcing there husband ? Believe me ,there's really isn't a benefit for women to divorce , ending a marriage can launch you into painful feelings of failure, disappointment, stress, and regret, generally when people are ( women ) contemplating divorce things are pretty bad by then, usually there's Lack of communication, lack of empathy, lack of feeling supported by your spouse, and lack of emotional growth, or (infidelity from there partner ) generally distress women more than men, making women more likely to file for divorce than men.

"A husband should love his wife as much as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it." Ephesians 5:25 Think of how much Jesus loves the church, loves you. Married couples should have the same self sacrificing love for one another. It is extremely sad that much of christendom and, indeed, true children of God have adopted the world's attitude towards marriage, i.e. nothing more than fleeting emotions or a cold transaction of sex for security. This attitude is a twisted, freakish thing that God hates.
