That Flitecontrol wadding is pretty cool. Buffalo's Outdoors channel did a fairly decent review of it comparing regular to Flitecontrol over different ranges. Ever since you got the high speed camera I've really enjoyed watching the way the ballistic gummy bear reacts to being shot, the ears stretching way out, and just the whole jiggling ballistic bear "dance" if you will. There used to be a poster to rec.guns (USENET) who was famous for very hot loads. He wasn't happy until primers were falling out and cases were bulging. These were pistol loads though. I don't know if the rule holds for shotguns, but it seems that for lighter projectiles you really do want faster burning propellants. I suspect you already know that though. Just like the sound of my own voice.
@taofledermaus7 жыл бұрын
The e3 is one of the fastest powders. There's a point where trying to push a projectile too fast causes other problems just with the limitations of waddings and all that.
@Fudmottin7 жыл бұрын
I've only done rifles and pistols myself. Obviously you don't want a serious pressure spike. The guy I mentioned was going way over SAAMI standards and got a lot of flack for that (no pun intended). I didn't mean to come across as saying you should overpressure your loads. Interior ballistics is probably far more complex than I can imagine, and I can imagine quite a bit.

Penetrating something Wehrmacht considered "armoured" for warfare in the IIWW would by my enlightened guess and crude calculation take a hell of a lot more than having a maquisard taking a shot at it with a 20g blunt shotgun slug made out of regular steel.. Letting off a couple of rounds with a captured 8x57IS Mauser rifle through engine covers would most certainly produce more of a desired result.. Which would also mean that the shooter would have to stand on top of an armoured car or a tank to do that which would be a quite of an achievement considered the vehicle would be moving while a squad of Germans would be pooring on you with an MG-42, a couple of MP-40's and a half a dozen Mausers..

You might be surprised at what civil aircraft parts cost. On the planes that I work on something like that being about that price would not be too outrageous. The FAA has got us by the balls. The magazine holders in our planes apparently cost three grand or something. You got to have them because you got to put the emergency literature in them. However these are planes from the 80s and 90s I believe. They don't make them anymore.

The more I see experimental slugs flying, the more I come to believe that the rifling ratio isn't matched to their rotation requirements.
@CCW19117 жыл бұрын
I hate to point this out but after closely examining the pixels I discovered that is not a F111 part, it is actually a carpet sill plate from a United Airlines passenger jet, if you look closely I think you'll see the finger and teeth marks imprinted on it as a passenger traumatically removed it from the floor of the airliner as he disembarked. Word on the street is these and other collectible items are being auctioned by the airline to pay some random lawyer fees.
@thickachu40017 жыл бұрын
Those accounts of disabling German armor via engine damage are true however the conception of the armor penetration is way overdone as they actually were shot through the thin vented engine decks where there was only a couple MM of actual armor.
