Hey, I've been binge watching alot of your content and I just wanted to say you make amazing videos. I was born and am living in Australia but my parents are Chinese. I'm going on a trip to China and other countries in Asia at the start of next year with two of my Australian friends. I've been watching your videos to get inspiration for travel and places to go (+ things to eat) and they've made me so excited to go back on my own terms. I've been multiple times before and stayed with family but didn't really have much control over what to do. We are going to Shenzhen, Wuhan and Beijing :) (Also I must add, your Chinese is so much better than mine)

I would love to go to China and study especially the language but I don't know if there is any program that fits my situation. Honestly speaking I don't think it's necessary to enroll in a language program, cuz firstly, regarding the difficulty, one or two years are rather short for learning Chinese; secondly, I bet you it would be super easy to make Chinese friends there whatever the degree you're planning to get in Chinese universities, as they're many and are super friendly to foreigners. Recommend THU, SJTU and ZJU to you. They're top engineering schools in China.

Beijing was awesome! It's very different to Shenzhen. Beijing is very spread out, and the area where all the universities are (In Haidian district) is quite far from a lot of the action in Beijing (I would argue Chaoyang district is where most of the fun stuff is). But the student scene is awesome there, and there's so much culture and history to experience in Beijing :) just be prepared for long rides on the subway! haha

It all looks amazing though. Gives me flashbacks to the night markets I used to wander around in Taiwan.

They're great. I've only been to the ones in Taipei and Hualien (I was living there for a few months). I want to see the other ones like Kaohsiung and Taichung. I heard Jiufen has a really pretty one. My go to dishes at the markets were Oyster Omelettes and Jipai (Fried Chicken Steak). Oh! And Hujiaobing (Black Pepper beef buns). 😍

You've got me hungry already just by watching this Amy! And that's despite having just eaten! Does that make me a glutton? Because this is another video that presses the correct button! Except for the cockroaches part! They say mind over matter but f* that! It just aint for me either!! Otherwise gluttony is my middle name! In addition, Happy PRC Day and 70th anniversary!!

The great side about street food in Shenzhen is that you would find Street food from the entire China here, because the immigrants in Shenzhen are from all places around China. The down side about it is that some of these street food has been altered in someway, either for fitting the consumer's desire or for easier to make. Some people maybe consider them as non-authentic, while I personally don't think it is a big deal.

You need to go to all the provinces in China to sample all the different dishes. Each province has its' own way of managing the cooking of each dish.

so true! Thats one of the things I love about shenzhen, it's so multicultural. But I guess it's inevitable that the recipes will be changed slightly. Just gives me more motivation to travel more and sample those foods in their hometowns!

Hong Kong is a city in China that attracted lots of tourists in the past. At present, Hong Kong is not safe to travel to. Recently, there have been too many violent protests in Hong Kong. Tourists are not recommended to stay in Hong Kong. I personally recommend transiting through Hong Kong to Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Guangzhou (cities in Guangdong province) - to Shenzhen (a city in Guangdong province) by the Shenzhen Bay Bridge, which is part of Asian Highway 1 and Zhuhai (also a city in Guangdong province) by the relatively new Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.
