1st Halloween I saw in theaters, it was packed with people. The crowd went insane when I saw this movie, they clapped, cheered, they screamed, they laughed, it was a fun ride. Definitely a crowd pleaser horror film. I was about 13 years old and the movie actually scared me, Michael Myers was very intimating on the big screen. I felt the movie had good actors, great build up and suspense, the music score hit the mark. I love this movie, compared to the other Halloween films, I give it an 8/10.

So stoked to see the new one. Waited for over a year. Couldn’t wait! Sadly, very disappointed. LOVE H1 ( my fav horror), H2, and H20. HALLOWEEN 2018 had a wonderful intro, but seemed to run out of steam rather quickly. Needed: MORE scenes with Laurie, and LESS with secondary high school kids and a dance NO ONE cares about. Also, the two cops in the cruiser? A chance at humor that fails miserably, yet adds 6 more minutes of screen time. The third act twist was ridiculous and completely illogical. God, I hated it. Wouldn’t see it again for free.

Underrated? Um, it was a box office hit. Praised by critics. And a good majority of Halloween fans place it as the best sequel (not me, in full disclosure, I think it blows). Not exactly underrated. Halloween 5 is underrated. Hell, if anything I'd say it's overrated.

I actually love H20. It had it's flaws and a little to be desired with the plot. The mask situation is so frustrating to hear about. But overall it's a pretty good movie. If you look at Halloween, Halloween 2, and H20 as it's own trilogy it was a solid way to end it.

H20 was disappointing. For me H20 and Resurrection don't exist. I love and prefer Halloween 1978, Halloween 2 1981, and the amazing Thorn Trilogy Parts 4-6 P-Cut.

@thehalloweenheavymetalmusicwar4 жыл бұрын
@@isitoveryet9525 I agree maybe Halloween 5 was the only one out of the Thorn Trilogy that wasn't good, but Halloween 4 and Halloween 6 Producer's Cut were awesome, especially Halloween 6 Producer's Cut was awesome and an extremely dark entry of the franchise, the only downside was Michael Myers impregnating his niece Jamie and the baby being his, but everything else was in Halloween 6 Producer's Cut was awesome and perfectly executed. The Cult of Thorn was awesome too it's the darkest element thing the Halloween franchise has ever delivered, it took Michael Myers to much darker directions ever. It's too bad they never made the sequel that was planned for it which would've definitely been better than all these garbage remakes and reboot sequels we have been getting lately, especially RZ Halloween 2 (2009) and Halloween 2018, which are the worst ones so far of the franchise, both are worse than Resurrection, and speaking of H20, It's not a good movie either, but most certainly not the worst of the franchise either, it does have some redeeming qualities in it and it has more of a believable storyline of traumatized Laurie than Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 (2009) and Halloween 2018, and H20 overall is a much better when compared to Resurrection, both Rob Zombie Halloween films, even though Rob Zombie first Halloween 2007 Theatrical Version movie is ok since Michael Myers in that movie seems believably dangerous especially when he escapes from the asylum by killing all those Police Officers and then dragging their bodies all out through aylum this showing no matter how much security Michael Myers has around him he still manages to escape, something Halloween 2018 failed to do big time, so yes and H20 also is a way better movie when compared to Halloween 2018. Halloween 2018 which not only had a senseless plot of traumatized Laurie, but the way Michael Myers was handled in that movie didn't make him seem believable as this big bad highly dangerous Boogeyman and his escape was terrible and humanized him a lot by having Dr. Sartain being the one helping and planning Michael's escape in the bus crash scene, this showing us audience that Michael Myers would've not escaped on his own if it weren't for Dr. Sartain helping him, this making Michael Myers seem way too human due to the fact he can't seem to escape on his own because of the high security around him, when even Rob Zombie's first Halloween 2007 Theatrical Version Michael Myers was also a mortal human in that movie and Rob Zombie still managed to make Michael Myers seem believably dangerous even with his Michael Myers being a mortal man like in Halloween 2018.
@StarryStarryNocturne4 жыл бұрын
IMO Halloween 4 was superior to Halloween 2. Even John didn't like Halloween 2 and he wrote and directed it, begrudgingly so. I think too many people sleep on Halloween 4. And I think it's due to how it's story and lead characters were botched in Halloween 5 and 6. If you ignore what was done with Jamie and Michael in 5 and 6, Halloween 4 has the most interesting, refreshing and inspired continuation of the Myers story out of prior and later attempts to milk the franchise. And if the producers hadn't meddled and lost the balls to follow through with what happened at the end of Halloween 4 in Halloween 5, rather than just neutering the weight of it's conclusion and Dr. Loomis' mental breakdown, along with Jamie's arc - by making her an ineffectual mute in 5 and then a sacrificial rape victim that gets offed like a side character that never mattered in 6 - it would've been the most interesting, fresh thing done with the film series since the original. But, noooo, can't have anything new and interesting happening, gotta always revert back to the status quo with every "new" movie because monies.
@StarryStarryNocturne4 жыл бұрын
@Barnaby Joe Wigglesabit My mistake, I guess I was confused by Jamie Lee Curtis saying that she found it odd being in a Halloween movie without John present when she came back to do H20. I guess she meant as a producer? Maybe John's presence as a producer was enough to offset some of Rick Rosenthal's shenanigans that we all got to see unfiltered in Resurrection? There's really nothing in common between Halloween 2 and 8. I would've never guessed they were directed by the same director.

*UNPOPULAR* *OPINION* : This is the best Halloween movie. I’m not even sorry about it. I love the original and I love Halloween 2018 but H20 is the perfect horror film. It has a great first act, an interesting second act to build the characters (which they did well considering it’s only 86 minutes long) and a phenomenal third act which never lets up from the point of Michael entering the school. It’s relentless. The last 20 minutes of this film are literal horror perfection: Great kills, a prolonged chase sequence, tension and an awesome showdown in the school. Laurie kicking through to that axe and the overhead shot of her walking up to the school screaming ‘Michael!’ is so damn good. And then just when you think it’s over she grabs those keys and drives off in the van with him in the back. Stop it! This film is incredible 😂 Admitted, you can’t beat the style of the first, you just can’t, but seeing Michael and Laurie come face to face in that door window was *ICONIC* and it’s for this exact reason that it’s better. There’s something exciting about meeting new characters in an original horror film for the first time but you know what’s more exciting than that? Seeing them face off again 20 years later. And the fact that it’s someone of Jamie’s calibre is the icing. This was a once in a lifetime thing right? Never would this happen again... And here we are, another 20 years later and Jamie is back again, reprising her role in a new trilogy and honestly, we just don’t deserve it. I know we had a hard time as fans during Resurrection and those Zombie films but this is too much. What an incredible time to be a Halloween fan!

The best part of H20 is when Laurie and Michael come face to face for the first time in 20 years. The Ottman score sounds like it belongs in Nightmare Before Christmas, not Halloween.

Then it would confirm H3: Season Of The Witch is likely in the same timeline. My theory/view is that H3 is the same timeline as the movies surrounding it. John Carpenter made a movie based on the 1978 babysitter murders. So, in the Halloween universe/reality, there's a movie called 'Halloween' that was made based off the real-life events.

That's a hard sell. Best case it's 3rd, but probably 4th (excluding SOTW). Could have handled the chase throughout the school better (ending) and obviously the mask debacle is unforgivable. I do like it quite a bit, but the OG and 2018 are 100% superior. The original H2 is up for debate, too slow paced for quite a while but last act is tremendous. On another note, 2018 soundtrack is unparalleled. However, opinions vary. Different opinions and civilized debates make the world a better place. No offense intended.

H20 isn't bad, but it isn't amazing either. The biggest problem with the film is that it feels more like a Scream movie than it does a Halloween movie. It is too self aware and it has too many wink winks in it. Having Janet Leigh, for instance, was all about winking at the audience and added NOTHING to the story. The film lacks atmosphere. Setting it in California hurt the film and robbed us of the Halloween atmosphete. The opening scene was the only part that really captured that.

I liked this movie when it came out. I saw it in the theater when I was 17. When I watched it 20 years later, I hated it. It's got too many late 90s horror tropes - jump scares, cheesy music when a character's hand falls on another character's shoulder preceding the jump scare, and your typical Dawson's Creek casting. I was happy that 2018 was a direct sequel to the original, doing away with the whole 'hurr durr Michael always comes after his family' thing. He's far more terrifying as a random, don't care who you are, killer.

Killua Zoldyck 2018 just didn’t do it for me.. I’m outnumbered because it seems most people loved it. I feel there was far too much forced comedy throughout the film, and some of the “twists” like the evil doctor putting on Michaels mask etc just didn’t sit right.

From what I read and saw, they were going to make H7 and that's when JLC approached them about John and Debra returning for a definitive anniversary Halloween. What I remember is that little by little, it all just fell apart and eventually became Halloween H20. Debra became disinterested, John left because he wasn't appreciated enough, the script changed so much and it became the furthest thing from what I think JLC and John wanted in the end. Then they screwed JLC by putting it into her contract that Michael cannot die.

@Jarred Knox Agreed. It gets worse with each viewing IMO, especially knowing the ending was immediately retconned with Resurrection which killed the original run of the series. There's a reason why the 2018 film jettisoned ALL the sequels.

Ever since I seen H20 it has been in my top 5 favorite Halloween movies. Was kinda upset that they ignored 4 5 and 6 but at the same time I was glad that they focused on the Laurie Strode/Michael Myers story line again and Michael coming back after 20 years to face his sister once again after the ordeal in Halloween and Halloween 2. I wish they had explained what happened to Michael after the events of II (I know they do with 4-6 but lets ignore those). Where did Michael go? How did he heal from his burn injuries at the end of II? Why wasn't there more of a tribute to Donald Pleasence/Dr. Loomis? Among a few others I can't think of at the current moment but overall I was very pleased with H20. Story line, tone, actors, music etc etc. I felt this was a good movie to have as a Michael Myers/Laurie Strode trilogy which to me it is.
