Mausoleum was stuck in my mind, to the point it was driving me over the edge. I kept trying to place the game it was from .. Castlevania...Nightmare Creatures.. Hell, even Doom. Then my mind was awash of 1995, how miserable my teen life was. My father was sick, we were broke, and life just wasn't good.. And to all of the misery, I simply say, VAE VICTUS. Misery to the conquered. Misery to my misery, may my suffering, itself suffer. Kain, by far, is one of the most underrated anti-heroes there ever was. Vae Victus to this run down shell of a wasteland world we all have to slosh through. Keep your soul reavers close to your heart.

Steve Henifin did the ost in this game. The other games he didn't as he was part of silicon Knights. Crystal dynamics legacy of kain games starting from soul reaver were much weaker games in every department. Thematically also very very different. Shame Silicon Knights didn't get to make Kain 2.

Thanks for the upload. What a masterpiece of a game and I enjoy all the comments below. Time to unload some thoughts... I will never forget playing this game for the first time when I was about 8 or 9 (and many years after) - arguably "too young" for a game like this with dark adult themes that apply to human lives "in the real world", however I would beg to differ as the graphics really weren't too visually intense and gory compared to todays video game standards (I absolutely love the graphics in this game still to this day). It really got my little gears running as a child, as initially Kain is faced with a heavy decision unknowingly and takes the bait from Mortanius. Such a lesson in life to not always trust people who may have "all the answers" for you, or perhaps a manipulative person who is pretending to help you for their own gain. As the story goes on Kain begins to embrace his "curse" and being heavily influenced by the badass Vorador, another important lesson from this could be if something horrible has happened to you in your life, time does go on and you do learn to adapt, reframe and live with it as bad as it may be. Again just such awesome story telling and character development, the variety of other evil bastards and interesting characters in the game, I could go on and on about this I'm sure you understand! At the end we are faced with 2 choices: the path of compassion and humility or the path of selfishness and greed. Yet another lesson in life. Just a fucking awesome well made game how about that!

Blood Omen and its 1999 sequel Soul Reaver are honestly two of the best action games of all time, let alone of the 1990s: Blood Omen for being a violently good Zelda-inspired affair that also boasts a compelling plot and shines alongside BloodRayne and the two original Vampire: The Masquerade titles as the best vampire games ever, and Soul Reaver for taking things in a different direction whilst blowing the lore of the world of Nosgoth wide open, switching to 3D and pulling it off, and featuring one of the best environment-based combat systems in a game of the time. Begun playing the former, and can't wait for the Latter's remaster come December. Vae Victus.

1) Why a need remaster when there is a global patch for the game and digital re-release in GOG; 2) Once Ritual Entertainment made a game based on "Legacy of Kain", which was supposed to be released after "Defiance" - it was "The Dark Prophecy". But in the end the game was cancelled. =X

Not all composers or sound engineers used adaptive soundtrack technology in this time. =] Yes, there was don't used accurate looping in BLOOD OMEN, but this cycle: track began -> track plays -> track ended > silence > track started again... And so on ad infinitum. =X

This game has been officially re-released digitally by 'GOG'. There is also a large-scale patch for PC-version that allows you to comfortably play on modern PCs. And "Blood Omen" does not need a remaster, but a full-fledged remake. But this makes little sense without the cast that was in the original game. "Blood Omen" could have released in the mid-1990s, but at the present time this game will be taken with hostility. In modern realities people will not miss such a bloody, violence and extremely cynical game as "Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain" =X
