What a sad tragic tale, that poor boy who burned to death and his brave sister who carried him to get help, she must have been burned too, bless her. Did the husband pre-meditate the murder? as he took the cut throat razor and put it in his pocket before killing his wife then himself, it makes you wonder what was going through his mind when he did it?! I guess we'll never know! But another amazing story, thanks Chris and Vickie!

Firstly. I always listen on studio headphones and the audio is outstanding, highly professional. As for George. I have concerns that he was the murderer. He was found with the razor in his hand. He almost decapitated his own head. He had the money in his pocket to pay the fine. There appears to be no premeditated reason despite the sad history. But did he really murder his wife and then himself? Was that razor planted? It does happen. I am just not convinced. With poor Albert, you note he was killed 23rd August 1916 and buried in France. I can't find a record at the CWGC for an Albert Yates for that death. Great presentation guys, highly professional sound and video which shows great care was taken.

I've just had a look at the photos we took of the headstone, and it's 1918, not 1916, when he died. From where I was stood when filming, it looks like a '6' not '8'. Apologies 👍

A very sad story in every sense of the word, t does s that the jury at the inquest delivered the appropriate verdict. And this appears to have been accepted by the family by the fact that George and his wife Ann were buried in the same grave. In regard to the 4 year old who tragically died earlier, one may wonder where were the parents when the accident happened, and did this cause an apportionment of blame within the family that might have played a part in this sad tale. Once again a sad tale well researched and delivered with respect and compassion.

No fingerprints taken within the house? on the weapon?, did all the blood spilled belong to the husband and wife? no cast's of possible foreign foot prints taken outside / inside the house? would some one even of "assumed" temporary insanity leave this site for their dear child to find? if this was premeditated did he not have the means or knowledge to achieve the same result without being so horrifically violent towards his wife and himself? of course no forensics at that time, so looks like they deduced the bloody obvious, fabulous story well presented, looking forward to the next one already, cheers to you both.

This case has got hair all over it. Unless the press were in the habit of using hyperbole to sell papers, which is possible, I find it very difficult to believe that george almost cut his own head off. Cutting someone's head off is not an easy thing to do, and I'm not convinced that someone could do it to themselves. No evidence of domestic violence. George was murdered in my opinion. That opinion is based on the evidence supplied, obviously, I don't know all aspects of the case, but I reckon someone got away with one here
