Thank you for this message - I think it's an incredibly important message. These large national chains of pet stores definitely pose concerns with regards to training and correct information relayed to customers (imo). While it's great that some locations sound like they're training their employees very well and doing things correctly, the truth is I have had numerous interactions with these employees as well as received instructions or heard them give somebody else instructions that were incorrect. And while reptiles are definitely a huge concern because, as previously stated, they can out live their owners, This is also the case for several large exotic birds as well. The truth is, at the end of the day they have a responsibility to provide accurate and detailed care instructions for the animals they are selling to customers. This is not like someone is buying a refrigerator and they simply lost the manual. These are living breathing things... Kudos to you for taking the time to provide them with the correct information they needed. And I guess at the end of the day the ultimate responsibility is on the new owner to make sure that they are fully informed - I think confirming information from multiple dependable sources is really important... But it is sad that in order to get accurate information, you can no longer depend on your local pet store.

Great informative video! I fully agree with doing your research prior to purchasing ANY animal! I watched Brian Barczyk, Chandler's Wild Life, and Snake Discovery for a few YEARS before I decided to get a snake myself. When I finally started the process of getting one, I did a TON of research on Ball Pythons and found that they're actually not great starter snakes for beginners, because they have a tendency to hunger strike often and require a relatively humid environment. My area has very dry air and I wasn't ready to take on a BIG task yet. So I actually started doing research on Corn Snakes instead, and found that they're one of the best starter snakes, for a variety of reasons, and that's what I went with! Couldn't be happier! I love her! I named her Nagini haha. She's anery (maybe het hypo?) I've had to guess on her morph, the place i got her from didn't know.

WTH! They told them Bloods don't drink water? Wow! I've never seen a Blood sold at our local Pet Smart or Petco either. However, Petco did have some nice Womas several years ago, but not since then(that I know about)..Glad you gave them some good advice on their needs...

Gave them wrong info all across the board. I’m happy they reached out to me though instead of taking Petsmart’s word for it. I’ve seen rarer ball pythons in there before but the fact that they’re now getting Bloods worries. They never take good care of their animals.

I have a Petco near my house. It's the only chain store I'll go into. All of the workers are trained by a woman there who previously worked at a zoo, and has tons of knowledge on all animals that they carry. I've seen her refuse sales to people not willing to give proper care. It makes me happy to know of at least one store that I know cares, and does it right. I've never seen a blood python there or at any other. I've only seen corns, ball pythons, and sand boas.

All workers aren’t uneducated, but the majority of them are. It’s great to hear that your location is doing things right. Provides little faith to the matter

You're very lucky. The THREE stores in our neck of the woods have less than stellar snake care. Dirty water bowls, humidity off, busted sheds. Not to mention laughable care advice.👊🏾🪖🇺🇸✝️

Know what pet supplies plus a lot of people don't know this.But when I work there, you could talk to unemployed.Our manager and we actually have a book with more exotic animals that you can buy

Hey neighbor! I'm across the river from you. ✌I have not seen any snakes like this in Petsmart near me. What a wild species to be selling to newbies! That's a pretty blood you got there.

Hey! I’m glad the algorithm allowed you to find my channel. These snakes definitely should stay away from big chain stores. I’ve seen them multiple times in actual reptile shops, but big box store employees are not equipped to care for such a snake. Even if the employee is educated on the species, the store itself doesn’t provide the essentials and basic necessities for care of them. I appreciate the compliment on my Blood. Brock is a very well mannered and not to mention beautiful Blood. You should check out my other ones featured on the channel

Petco has BCCs and Brazilian rainbow boas now and I found that surprising

Does your spagnum moss get moldy or smelly once it's mixed with the spagnum moss and reptichip substrate? I was thinking of doing that but when I tried spagnum in the past it sometimes got smelly when I damped with water a few times.
@SavageryReptiles6 ай бұрын
Make sure the sphagnum moss you’re using is New Zealand Sphagnum Moss. My moss never gets moldy or smelly with the Reptichip

Husbandry identical to a ball python... 🤦
@SavageryReptiles6 ай бұрын
Husbandry is different from Ball Pythons especially since they like to be kept a lot cooler than Ball Pythons and Bloos Pythons are terrestrial. I couldn’t believe they told them that

Solid video, young man. Solid video. Your care advice is stellar 🌟.You're showing that they're not the biting machines that have been shown in the past.👊🏾🪖🇺🇸✝️
