I'm a resident of one of the tea gardens of north Bengal(Rydak tea estate). The condition of tea garden workers is pathetic. We might be the most exploited people in India. Save the people of darjeeling from exploitation and give us a better future. There is a saying , the water of hills and the youth of hills are useless to hills and eventually has to go plains. When there are similar geographic conditions across the world developing while the darjeeling is left without development. The first light bulb in India was set in darjeeling by Britishers but nothing else came to focus on the development of hills.

Imagine if you have a family to fed, educate kids and also take care of other obligations! Every Dusshera they look forward bonus and gets disappointed. This time on my visit they were asking for 20% bonus n they were denied, so instead of preparing to Dusshera celebration, they are on the road prostiing for their much deserved bonus! My husband and I have been visiting North Bengal and Sikkim since 2014. We loved the area's natural beauty and people so much that last year we decided to shift here. Kalimpong seemed like a reasonable place to start our journey in the hills. After we shifted we have come to realise the problems faced by people here. The insensitive and cruel attitude of the government is beyond disgraceful. Implementation of the 6th schedule is the only solution I see.

Blood Tea- What an appropriate imagery for the prevalent situation since decades. There are solutions but nobody is interested to solve it or else uprooting the plant is the only way for new economic opportunities for other cash crops: cardamom; brooms, akbare chili, and many other fruits like passion fruit, avagado etc which pays more yield to the farmers then tea. At the moment the profit from tea is finding way only to few traders at the cost of the quality of lives of the people of Darjeeling dependent solely on tea plantation.

No body talks about the quality and productivity of the finest tea declined due to the political strikes and issues in darjeeling now that the whole industry is in loss and is still not yet recovered completely who is to blame ? The companies the political parties us as a community? Who? It is indeed blood tea for real ! While it is the month of festivals and our people are still on the streets for their rights ! We live in a failed society where greed fails to see the pain of others! From my childhood it's like the same situations during Dasain. Political party ko sirf politics karna hai, commission khana hai. Labours are given megre salary. Most of the youths left for other places to earn. Agar Bengali community tea garden par dependent hotey to tea garden kaha pahuchte. Lekin tea garden Mey sirf adivasi n Gorkha haina is liye ye situations hai. Mai communal baat nahi kar rahi hun but it's truth. Agar dusrey community ke apne jati k liye stand karey to wo hota hai Jatiprem. Agar hum kahey to communalism. Kuch to karna hai. 36 % of revenue Darjeeling se jatey hai aur humey facilities Dene k time nazar andaj kartey. Adivasi n Gorkha key upar raj karney ko milraha hai.
