Looks you got the scorched end of the stick in this one. The original torch certainly puts the lame in flame, however the followers torch can dish out some surprisingly Olympic levels of incineration

@TREVORVADER it's not horrible, honestly. I only beat the game like 6 times, so I'm like a normal skill player. I also trade a lot of hits, lol. Most of the issues came from being low-level and refusing to grind levels, lol.

Funny that you specifically mentioned using the torch’s weapon skill on the Pus of Man, since if you read the item description, that’s specifically what it was designed for. I doubt it was also intended to stagger enemies like a brick to the forehead, but that’s the way the wick burns.

A torch was always in my offhand in DS3. I loved the way the lighting system worked in that game. On happenstance, it also made me realize it chumps some of the basic guys, ended up being a great offhand choice.

In defense of the dragonslayer armor having low fire resist, there were a good variety of breath types used by dragons. Lightning, rotten sludge, water from the hydras, whatever Kalameet had going on back in Oolacile... For fire resistance you'd want demonslayers (aka black knight) armor, since those were more closely linked to flame

Dark breath, but there was no Dark type in DS1 so it was Magic breath. Oolacile was all about giving you a preview of what the world would look like if you extinguished the First Flame instead of keeping the cycle going.

17:17 lore tidbit: it's highly speculated within the community that ancient dragons did not spit fire, but magic. Fire is apparently a thing we see now from wyvern and such, which are a "bastardized" versions of dragon, not purebreeds. PS: this run went exactly like I imagined, with the rush to go for the followers' torch... when a weapon has the moveset of the mace, there's no need to consider anything else 😂 EDIT2: 25:42 rare occasion where jk uses "drag on" in the proper manner and not for some dragon pun... I don't think an invalidates the run but here's my holiday destination. when I was a kid we went to a simple caravan park called happy holidays on the East coast in Australia and it had simple things like a big bouncing pillow thing putt putt golf and indoor and outdoor pool and arcade and indoor jungle gym and a theatre. I know it isn't the most crazy thing people have experienced but I still have very fond memories there 😊

I've done this run before, the followers torch uses a modified mace moveset which is considered one of the best movesets. Also fun fact, being embered and the torches have interactable fire particles that move when something passes through them and blow in the wind.

I gotta tell ya, doing a torch run was a really bright idea. Edit; 4:55 did most of us find the island bonfire on their own while raiding the swamp for goodies? I recall getting invaded and afterwards, being seriously hurt. As such, i figured i should explore since i was almost certainly going to die. I wanted to survey the area so i went to find higher ground. Imagine my delight when I found the beautifully placed bonfire!

I remember my own run of Torch only a year ago, thing was wild because I forgot about follower's torch all the way till later I managed to kill deacons with just the TORCH and even the Abyss Watchers, but then I finally remembered that I could just get a better torch lol And also the reason it's that viable is because it's kinda just a hammer moveset with unique heavy lol But that's definitely one of my favorite runs ngl, Follower's torch is just that fun

Sometimes its not the bosses that cause issues, its getting to them through all the "minor" enemys that is difficult, at least for me
