Bloodborne was the first Souls game I ever played. I used to think that Souls games were hard for the sake of being hard, and that there was nothing else to them. This game changed that opinion pretty quickly, and I have since bought all the Souls games. Even after months of playing other games I still find my mind wandering to Bloodborne. And I still have yet to beat the Orphan of Kos.

+Time keeper, after playing Dark Souls 3 a bunch of times, I wont say lack of weapons is a problem in Bloodborne, I'd complain about the lack of upgrade items. In Bloodborne, towards the end, you can only use like 2 weapons because the game doesn't provide enough chunks/ twin shards, hell there's only one blood rock in the game, so you end up barely using more than 2 weapons for most of the game, being able to L1 switch the weapons sorta makes up for the lack of variety but more upgrade items would've been nice. Another minor gripe is the fact that resting/going back to the Hunter's Nightmare doesn't replenish your blood vials, makes it annoying with boss fights that you have to do over and over again and end up losing all your vials. The game is still a solid 10 IMO though, my few gripes with the game don't really affect the entire quality and I didn't have those gripes with the game until after playing Dark Souls 3.

Bloodborne is one of the most terrifying, anxiety inducing, depressing, visceral and difficult games ever crafted. At the time I started playing it I was horribly depressed and had just gotten out of a toxic 3 year relationship. By all means it should have been the last game for me to play at the time and I should have gotten even more depressed, yet something unthinkable happened...the game completely and utterly cured my depression. In fact, nothing has ever been more effective at curing my depression (not even medication) than playing this game. How exactly? let me explain... In the game you are stuck in a never ending nightmare and it is up to you to fight through the terrors and slay the source of the nightmare to end the dream. Along the way you will encounter all sorts of nightmarish creatures. Giant spiders, snakes, zombies, werewolves, ghosts, grotesque abominations, and otherworldly beings called the great ones. Entities that have ascended so far in thought that they are beyond human comprehension. After every terrifying boss I defeated, I felt a rush of euphoria and an overwhelming feeling of accomplishment and empowerment. It felt like there was nothing I couldn't overcome. I had worked so hard mentally to defeat them, and faced them so many times that suddenly these things that I had been afraid of my entire life (death, loneliness, isolation, spiders, monsters, the unknown) I was no longer afraid of. What's amazing about this game is that it forces the player to confront their deepest fears, and asks them to have the courage to overcome them. The game creators set the difficulty high, not because they want to torture or discourage you, but because they believe in you. They don't want you to have an easy victory, but want you to earn it so you feel a sense of pride accomplishment. The game creators intentions aren't to depress or anger the player. Instead they want to help build your resolve, and ascend your fears to become a better person. There are subtle things in the game that feed into this notion and give proof of the developers intentions. Unlike a lot of games, this game allows you to customize your character to be of your likeness. It makes it more personal, as it isn't just any person going through this nightmare but you, yourself who is fighting against and defeating the monsters. At the end of the game, if you beat the secret boss and get the true ending, your character (the representation of yourself) ascends past his/her humanly form and becomes a great one themselves. It's an acknowledgment that through your bravery you have conquered your fears, escaped your own nightmare, and have ascended to a higher plane of thinking. The director of this game, Hidetaka miyazaki is an absolute genius, and his creative team at From Software are masters at crafting game worlds. Bloodborne is easily my favorite game of all time and an absolute masterpiece. Everything in this game has been so meticulously thought out and lovingly crafted. I've never seen a game world so completely and beautifully realized. Never seen a story so compelling, deep, meaningful and rich with lore. Never heard a more perfectly fitting and masterfully composed sound track. Never seen such intriguing characters. Never seen a more creative art style and character design. Never played a game with a more rewarding combat. I highly, highly recommend this game to anyone who is interested. Know that it WILL scare you, it WILL test your resolve and patience, and it WILL take a lot out of you. But if you keep with it, you will emerge on the other side a changed person. Hidetaka and From Software has won a life time fan. They not only cured my depression, they made me a stronger, better person. To show my thanks and support I will be buying every future From Software release on day one. I've boughten two copies of Bloodborne and have already pre-ordered Sekiro Shadows Die Twice. I cannot wait to immerse myself into the new world they have created and see what masterpiece they have constructed this time. In the mean time, I'll be listening to my favorite track from Bloodborne, Gehrman The First Hunter Ost.

Is it really worth downloading again? I ask cause i uninstalled it like 2 years ago after trying for like 2-3 hours to try and get past the first level. Dont remember much about it other than i couldnt get past this one bit, every time i died i spawned back at the start of the game so i just gave up.. pissed me off so much, idk if hard games are even worth playing if it takes hours just to get past the introduction. Debating about just playing it again but on the easiest difficulty, is it worth it? Or will i just struggle again. If so then i wont bother downloading it, i dont have fun on games that make me spend hours getting past one section. Challenge? sure but not hours lmao

COD BO3 was one of my least liked in the series. But with that said, it's technically sound and a good shooter. Reviewers (admittedly not all) look at a game at a completely objective standpoint. They have to separate themselves from Bias. Is the game technically sound and fun? Yes. Is it tiring to see the game pushed out over and over again? More than likely. But they do try to mix up their gameplay and make it entertaining. IGN doesn't compare games with a score. They put an overall picture of whether or not it's sound\good.

I would agree, but BO3 is not worthy of a 9.2/10 when comparing it to other shooters, let alone other brilliant games like Bloodborne or The Witcher 3. I think this game is worthy of a 10/10 and so do most of IGN because they placed it as the second best game available on PS4 in their last ranking of best PS4 games which also includes Remasters. The clear problem is these reviewers who don't know how to balance out objectivity and subjectivity. They can't give out a score purely based on the pros and cons of a game, because it wouldn't make sense if that game is part of a copy-paste series of games that has been recycled and milked to death like COD. It wouldn't make sense giving it a much higher score than other original games inside and outside of its genre like DOOM or Uncharted 4. IGN shouldn't just let anyone of their employees to review games when they're no good at it.

Probably the greatest game I have ever played, in terms of emotion and difficulty. I felt enraged when I died to three extremely difficult bosses (you know... Shadows), and when I finally killed them, I felt like a God. This game is extremely rewarding to those who learn from mistakes, improve, and carry on. Or you can just look up their weaknesses, which I did several times.

Bloodborne is one of my favorite games of all time and I say that having never played a single souls game. I originally bought it dropped it within a few days because I couldn't get past the first boss lol. But when I decided to give it a second try a few months later it hooked me like I couldn't believe. This game is so good and so addicting once you get into it. It's one of the most frustrating but rewarding games I've ever played. You feel so exhilarated when you beat that boss you've been stuck on for days. I would recommend it to literally anyone. I just beat it and bought the DLC and am so pumped for some more content 😁

Every aspect of this games design conveys the intended effect perfectly. It's beautiful, clever, scary, thought-provoking and anxiety inducing; it's honestly just near flawless. It's art direction/ dialogue/ gameplay/ lore/ music/ storytelling/ writing not only are great induvially but perfectly compliment each other as a whole. It's slow paced exploration encourages environmental storytelling, as it makes you carefully read your environments, and its environmental storytelling builds dread, which its fasted-paced encounters make into terrifying but exciting adrenaline rush as a result, and if you survive it repeats to a even greater effect.

+Hated Hatred It looks repetitive but due to the difficulty and a lot of variety and enemies it doesn't get boring at all. The difficulty makes it so you have to be on top of your game and makes it so that you have to use the right tactics to survive. The enemy variety makes it so that you constantly need to change your tactics. I highly recommend trying it out! I did it aswell and now this is my goty.

+Hated Hatred I was put off initially by the difficulty (I bought the game on Black Friday, but never got around to playing it til about a week and a half ago). I've since beaten it, though, and it was probably one of the better game experiences I've had in a while, if only for the very real sense of accomplishment in beating the many difficult areas and bosses. I'd say pick it up if you can find it for 20-30 bucks (shouldn't be hard, honestly).

+Hated Hatred by that logic, every games combat gets repetitive....if you're combat is based around cover to cover shooting thats what its going to be, if its sword shield block roll, thats all it will be, and you can use magic and ive seen some guys run badass bloodtinge builds based around the guns and rifle spear....maybe try dark souls, same overall presentation but it may have the variety your looking for in combat with the abundance of magic and weapons, i got beat by a guy with shields -_-

***** I've never experienced any frame rate issues in my 20 hour game so far. There's a few slowdowns, but only when loading into a new area. Doesn't effect game play. Loading times aren't terrible, they're a lot 30-40 seconds which I use to punch a wall to regain sanity. It's not a 7.5. Trust me.

It's a punishing game. It will treat you like an evil step mom when you start it. Nothing you've learnt over your gaming journey will help you through Bloodborne. There are no maps. No giveaways. No helpful NPCs. No guides into the menu. Everyone in Yarnham hates you. You are weak and underpowered. All the moves, speed, tactics you've learnt and built up will be in vain. You'll need to unlearn and relearn from scratch. Yarnham is a desolate place. It is dark and depressing. Overcome with monsters and disease. You are a hunter. You hunt monsters and cleanse the village. The game was designed to ensure 90% of the players give up after the first 5 hours of hopelessness. People either love Bloodborne or hate it. There is no middle ground. And then slowly it begins to click. You start learning the mechanics after hopelessly dragging yourself through the dirt. You start piecing it together bit by bit... You start embracing the grim ambience. You learn that you can make a small difference and suddenly you feel in control. Slaughtering at will and it feeds your ego. I'd say the combat in this game is easily the most fun in the series. It's probably less strategic but there's more instant gratification to be found from swiftly swerving around enemies and swiping them. The loading times and delay in the lock on are the biggest problems I have with it so far.

I think my favorite moment of Bloodborne was the beginning. For reasons you might not expect. After adjusting to the dizzying amount of detail, I remember how UNCOMFORTABLE the battle system was for me. I was so used to Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, and SotFS that stepping into Yarhnham without a shield made me feel completely naked. Further, the rules were different. Bonfires were now Lamps. Extra Souls were now Coldblood Dews. Titanite was now Blood Shards. I didn't have my trusty Estus Flask or various Moon Grasses. Gone were the foggy castles of Boletaria or the wonderfully varied locales of SotFS... instead I was in a steampunk, goth-victorian city trapped in haze of orange twilight filled. It was startling, disconcerting, uncomfortable... and it felt totally fresh and engaging as a result of it. Those hapless first few hours, dying and dying and learning the ropes, only to see things start to "click" and watch the Cleric Beast and Father Gascoigne fall, were extraordinarily memorable. I may be the oddball Souls players who likes SotFS the most when others hate Dark Souls 2, but I greatly appreciate how Bloodborne didn't give me special treatment for having played the previous Souls game. I was a freshman all over again, and man... it was thrilling.

Looking back , Bloodborne was one the best games of the decade along with Witcher 3. First of all, even being released 2 years ago it still feels amazing. The Victorian London Gothic setting immersed me into this game. I will never ever forget my first fight with the cleric beast. The music, the entrance of the beast, the atmosphere ... thank you Sony and thank you FromSoftware

Bloodborne is a game I'll remember forever. It's an emotional roller coaster and it's dark atmosphere is the most well constructed in s game since silent hill 2. It also introduced me to H.P.Lovecraft, with whom my fascination has caused me to read most of his stories and seek out other films and games and boardgames inspired by him... Beautiful, mysterious, morbid and challenging. 10/10 for me. Fear the old blood.
