I don't think Jirard has ever read any Lovecraft. If he had, the similarities would be extremely obvious to him. Same goes for Berserk. This game has practically nothing to do with Frankenstein, and the only similarity it shares with Dracula is the gothic Victorian atmosphere, so I don't even know why he mentioned those.

When i played the game i did notice that the frame rate would drop when your in areas with a shit ton of enemies and whenever a boss would use a very special effect heavy attacks. Apart from that it usually stays steady.

Its where you start a new game and rush to the Black Knight in Darkroot Basin who has a chance of dropping the Black Knight Halberd. If it drops, you're set for the rest of the game. It's what speedrunners use since there is no better early weapon and holds its own in the end game.

There are otherworldly Lovecraft-themes, the fisher-town in the DLC is Innsmouth with human/fish hybrids at it's best, while in the main game there is the insanity theme by just looking at the old ones. And they have the same roots: space-sea-land. But it's not a "Lovecraft-simulator", like some put here. The majority of the game is set, like the city of Yharnam itself (weird Prague/Luxembourg/Vienna/London-mix*), on european horror like Bram Stoker, Mary Shelly and also a lot of Robert Louis Stevensen. Also also the whole theme of making a deal with higher creatures to transform oneself can be tracked way back to Faust. So there's plenty more than "just" Lovecraft. *(and maybe a little bit of Hamburg, because of Yharnams many, many bridges...)

When the dlc rolled round I was on NG+3 on my best build and holy shit Ludwig took forever, 2 hits and I was done, 1 hit if he did his jump attack. Had to get the eyeframes down flawlessly.

Platinuming Bloodborne motivated me to go back and Platinum the Dark Souls series. Every hellish hour of Bloodborne was worth it and super memorable.

Here's my secret to boss battles: 1. Don't look at the enemy's health. 2. Usually dodge into the attack or direction of the attack. 3. Get the timing down on bosses that are susceptible to visceral attacks. 4. Be yourself. If you start thinking your favorite weapon isn't useful on the boss, just stick to it. This started bothering me on my first run, until I got the Holy Moonlight Sword!! Yeahhhh...ahem... 5. This is a weird thing to say, but look at the enemies movement, not specifically it's attack patterns. Is it like a crazy animal or a smooth criminal? Try emulating it's movement to counter it. 6. When you start to get agitated, just take a break. A quick episode of your favorite online KZbin show, and then get back into it. 7. Should've said this first, actually. Finish the entirety of the area and get to where you can easily reach the boss from the save lamp. Take a break and relax for a bit, and then you can focus all your attention on the boss. 8. If you just can't seem to win, just chill out and take care of the boss tomorrow. 9. Don't read up on how other players beat it! It detracts from the overall experience, but a little hint can't hurt if you're struggling. With this strategy, I managed to beat all of Bloodborne without even getting slightly mad and didn't have to waste 'hours and hours' of time beating these bosses. You perform better and learn faster when you're calm.

+Turtle Power There are often other indicators that a boss is transitioning into a new phase, usually glowing eyes or they change their weapon/stance. The only time looking at the bar would be beneficial is if you are dealing with a multi-enemy boss and you can see which one you are attacking, like with the Witches of Hemwick boss.

DS2 pre nerf lightning spear, I remember my first play-though as a cleric being super easy and when I did a co-op play-though with a friend and when with a melee hex build ( I called it the Anti-Mage) I noticed that all of the bosses were a lot harder when weren't 20 feet away from them chucking lightning at them

Bloodborne was one of the games that got me to buy a ps4 and almost my first FromSoftware game. Beaten it, fucking loved it and started a NG+ right after and I also ended up getting Dark Souls 3. Bloodborne looks beautiful and so many little details like certain outfits and corpses you find that match an area. For example when you find the Chapel Key on a body and the corpse is wearing the choir outfit. Which is exactly the area you're headed to once you get it. It's not random. There is a lot of story in the environment. The 3 things I found annoying with the game weren't too bad. The loading screen was terrible at launch but they fixed it. Having to go back to the hub world to reset areas and that a lot of the common hunters you fight in the game are annoying and not really fair. They will shoot their guns like 6 times in a row. But it's a minor thing.

I Are Soda the only difference between Dark Souls and blood-borne is that blood-borne has a faster pace no Shields cool weapons that transform into a different one and also a cool handgun you can put in your left hand so you can actually stun enemies before they attack so you can kill a enemy in an epic visceral attack. while Dark Souls is Shields and a slower pace still awesome boss fights in both games blood-borne and Dark Souls

Parasite Eve 2 threw out everything that made the first game appealing to me. I found the first game very unique. It's a SquareSoft horror game with an experimental battle system set in New York. Parasite Eve 2 is a Resident Evil ripoff. Both are available on PSN if you want to try them out.

I love this goddamn game. I did admittingly leave in defeat after the fourth boss with my tail between my legs, which is why I force myself to beat all 19 of the dark souls 3 bosses. The game is practically flawless. The game play, the weapons, the graphics, good fucking GOD the graphics! Praise the sun your ps4 doesn't burst into goddamn flame as the game runs at a smooth frame rate (mostly). Wunderbar. Just wunderbar.

If you get really good at parrying, you can actually trigger a visceral attack on a winter lantern from their grab attack. This usually lets you i-frame through the frenzy damage with the visceral attack animation, plus they're "kin" type enemies, weak to pierce damage like visceral attacks.

There is a real world reward you get from completing the game. You should have received an exclusive Bloodborne background theme emailed to you from Playstation. It's pretty cool looking. There have been a number of people (myself included) that had trouble receiving the email. I simply reached out to Playstation customer service from their website and they emailed it to me within 3 days. Just a friendly tip ;)

I got the plat, got nothing, my friend's do it 6 months later and they receive the emails, I contact Sony and they say they'll email me* to solve the issue, that never happened and I tried twice, that was over a year ago. I gave up.

Poe? Stoker? Jirard, Bloodborne is H.P. Lovecraft in game form. There are straight up three beasts from the books in the game: Shoggoth, Mi-go and Nyarlathothep. C'mon, the dlc is almost a carbon copy of a shadow over insmouth.

One thing I loved about Bloodborne, was that I rage at games all the time. Mostly for crappy controls. Like I broke my xbox controller during Conkers Bad Fur Day. But with Bloodborne, the controls worked, and everything that went wrong was MY fault. I couldn't fault the game for me dying. Just had to stay calm, and kill everything. :D

Other than bad camera angles at bigger bosses, I agree. When fighting bigger bosses you can't even lock on to them, because the camera films to the SKIES! It's pretty bad and I wish they would have made the camera pan out a bit. I think Ludwig fight did the camera right, but man there are just some bosses where it goes HAYWIRE. And I was using the Blade of Mercy too, so I HAD to lock on, because they got zero range. Other than that? Yeah, great controls.

@@SuperArppis the camera is my biggest complaint about this game. you pretty much have to be in the DIRECT line of sight of an enemy to lock on so if there's even a millimeter of wall in the way, have fun getting clawed in the back because the camera flipped 180 degrees instead of locking on. it's also horrific for larger bosses like you said. it's not unplayable obviously but it sticks out enough that i feel the need to complain on a 4 year old video lol
