Bill is really a clean player. Just listen to how tight he holds the rhythm when Brent goes around it. Such an underrated player. He makes it look so easy.
@vinceabella11715 жыл бұрын
I love when bill holds down the riff. What makes it better is lack of expression when he plays imo. Hes imposing the riff on us whether we like it or not

His tone is 👌🏻
@mr.lecoyote5151 Жыл бұрын
One of the best duo of guitarists out there. They come up with such perfect balance between rythm and lead that sound like no other band. Brent is the loose cannon and Bill's silently holding the wheel to keep it all from crashing and burning. Mind you the real heroes are Troy and Brann, but they're both consistent whereas Brent seems to prance the fine line between chaos and brilliance, anyway that was way too long 🤷♂️

His chord progressions are also awesome, too. I like how he always plays through the chords and let's each note ring out. I've noticed he always does that on a lot of their songs. Makes the chords and songs sound fuller and bigger. He's like the definition of what a rhythm guitarist should be.

Yeah not only is the guitar work really great but it’s also complicated too. And he’s sings great on it too to top it off
@nolanwitty43292 жыл бұрын
It's by far one of their most complex. There's a kind of euphoric mania that comes from really nailing a super hard song, like making it through a roller coaster with no seat belt.

They weren't able to play Crack the Skye cleanly when they first toured it in 2009. It was by far their most ambitious album to date so I can't blame them! This performance is spot on and currently they're even better.

No they aren't, Troy is finishing Brent's parts because Brent can't scream anymore without sounding like a dying cat, it's sad, the vocals for divinations are only pure on the track because he's never came close to that sinse it was recorded

i love mastodon its my fav band but i gotta admit , live brent and troy cant really sing to pitch , brain is probably the best singer of all of them. still love them tho

@@drgrimfist7437 yep you are correct, that ending part of the verse should be Brent but he can't scream anymore.

@@drgrimfist7437 Who cares? Sounds good. Vocal ranges change all the time, 7 years of touring can do that. They adapted and it sounds great.

Jesus fucking Christ, the amount of comments here prepared to call this a good vocal performance is exactly why a lot of metal vocalists simply are not up to scratch when performing live; they don't need to be good to get a round of applause. People seem to have a *massive* blind spot when it comes to this and I have no idea why. It sounds like shit. You know it sounds like shit. Stop pretending that it doesn't sound like shit. They're missing half the notes. If the guitars were out of tune and the solo sounded like shit, you wouldn't accept it. So why are you making apologies for poor vocals??

Mr Andy Releasing 7 almost undeniably consistent albums, having one of the best drummers in all of metal, 2 of the most creative guitarists in all of metal, and a beyond capable bassist along with being able to successfully incorporate 3 different lead vocalists does not mean overrated to me, but to each their own
