Focus because you have to ease in your punches bare knuckle on the heavybag to avoid an injury. With the padding of boxing gloves you can hit pretty much full force and you’re all good.

My issue is that whenever I go bareknuckle I start punching harder and harder because the increased speed excites me and then I'm a a point where my wrists can't take it anymore where it's usually the shoulder that absorbs the hooks and its easier to negate the impact of your own punch but bareknuckle can be dangerous especially for a power puncher

It took me a full year to get my hands and wrists conditioned enough to be hitting my heavy bag just as hard bare knuckle as I do with gloves. At the beginning, I could hit the bag no more than 5 times at half power. Now I can do a full 100% workout for an hour. But it took a loooong time. I even had to do no punching at all for one month because my hands were so jacked up that I could barely hold things. But they healed stronger. Same thing with conditioning the shins. Mine are still pretty weak, but can do a few dozen times on my heavy bag before breaking instead of only a few. It takes a lot of patience
@theprophet_-__cxvii__-_86935 жыл бұрын

I used to have that problem, my muddle knuckle is way further out than my other knuckles and regardless i still get that problem, i just heal fast and i found that taking a nice hot shower once a day and washing your hands regularly with vaseline and/ or triple antibiotic cream with gauze while you sleep (when most natural healing happens) and im good in a couple days. My suggestion if you dont have gloves or wraps is you just work on technique lightly and as the callouses build start bumping up the power slowly. Never be too eager to beat the shit out of the bag, it is a tool, and like any tool you learn to do things safely. Nobody had a good time hammering something the first time
@casteltheghettomonk43924 ай бұрын

Going BK on heavy bags means having a good wrist conditionning, a very good straight line with fore arm and wrist. Striking vertically (power line) or 45° angle on jabs, cross and hook and avoid horizontal strikes (except the fact you can go horizontally for some body strikes). All or most guys really involved in BK will told that. It will avoid injury to wrist and knuckles. My humble tips . I work on heavy bag 90% BK and 10% only wraped and no need to go full power because Gloves give bad habits when you go BK. Gloves and BK striking are 2 different science as Boxing and BK.

Most of the people that get scabs and bleeding knuckles is due to improper technique. That's bring us your previous video about if your heavy bag spins when you hit is there something wrong with your technique. most of the vuts, scabs and bleeding occurs when you hit the bag and it spins with your punch, if you over commit your punch. If your hit it square and controlled you won't have problems. it's my opinion.

ime 9 times out of 10 if you are getting skinned knuckles, you are dropping your punch after you hit and creating extra friction on the knuckle. Straight forward and straight back and a slight down ward angle to make room for you follow up punch. I'm an outlier, but I'm very against training with gloves on unless your training for an event where you will be wearing those same sized gloves.

Targeting is essential. Have to keep your strikes tight and in range. Bareknuckle training daily 18yrs and that is a very rare occurrence because I only fire shots that I actually see, target, and adjust for. No careless hooks, no cuts. I get closer to tearing open the shin where the skin is thin than knuckles.

Some people learn martial arts primarily to pick fights and beat people up for fun. Even though it's rare, it does happen. Please tell me your thoughts Shane.

I think that hitting heavy bag without gloves is needed to learn how to punch correctly. Gloves alter the feeling, you just don't feel if it is safe for you. If you punch with full power without gloves with bad technique you will know, so it's good to practice lighter blows. This way you will know if you're doing it right and if you'll hurt yourself in some bad scenario outside the gym. It's good to start bare hands (or just wraps to avoid scratching) on the heavy bag with light blows and step by step going harder. When it start to hurt your fists and wrists - you should stop and correct technique, and also condition you're wrists with knuckle push-ups etc.

You need to know when youre not landing that middle knuckle on your punches. However you structure it, if youre training for self defense, you *have to* do work with unprotected hands. Those are the hands youre going to defend yourself with and you have to know what they will do. If you always wear gloves then youll never know about the small imperfections of your technique until you break your hand/s in a fight.

Great video as always! I wonder if you wanna talk about the Tiger Balm or any equivalent, and their efficiency? I know there are plenty of knock-offs on the market (even inside sports shops). It seems to be quite a well-known brand on the martial art practice (and other sports) but I'd like to know more about how to use it and if the Tiger Balm is worth buying. Thanks!

It's about balance. If you would tell these stuff to early days Okinawa karate practicioners they would laugh at you and keep punching their makiwara.Nowadays though you should take safety into consideration too.
