They have this knack where none of the songs sound alike, but they all still sound identifiably Bloodywood. They tend to match energy to the topic, so you have this at one end of the spectrum, and Yaad, a power ballad-ish one about loss. If you go to their channel, they have a behind the scenes vid for the Raj Against the Machine tour that goes through their history. For ones with a bit more of the folk element, you probably want Gaddaar or if you want not quite as heavy and also motivational Aaj

Welcome to Bloodywood!! These guys are awesome. Their music is definitely on a spectrum, with this song being one of the heaviest, but a little less traditional sounding. I'll post a couple of their links below for you to experience their range. About the song: it could not be more straightforward, to be honest. There is an epidemic of sexual assault in India and around the world. The band members are calling out men, specifically, to put an end to this practice. Bloodywood is a band that does not shy away from sensitive and serious topics. About the band: Bloodywood started out making heavy metal parodies of pop or hip hop songs, and only distributed their music via KZbin or streaming services. After one of their songs, _Ari, Ari,_ went viral (posted below), they gained enough attention to start writing their own music. And they've been crushing it ever since. They released their debut album in 2022 and are still completely independently produced. hey btw just for additional info, the line - "laaton ke bhooton ka maran" is made from and indian idion called- laaton ke bhoot which means those who are habitual of kicks/beating should not be treated softly (they should be kicked) so the line means - laaton ke bhoot should die (maran- death)

also, dana dan is also a phonetic word to indicate beating (dana dan does not have any real meaning but it is a widely used phrase. There is even a 'BOLLYwood' movie called- De dana dan)

Can't go wrong with Bloodywood. First song I heard by them was Jee Veerey, at that time, Raoul Kerr, the singer doing the English rap-style vocals was a featured artist. During their 2019 world tour they played a small stage at Wacken Open Air in Germany (it was their first international gig ever) and they just didn't expected the place to be fully packed and the crowd cheering their name prior to them entering the stage.

Thanks for reacting to this awesome band. All of their songs focus on social justice (or injustice). This particular song as @AGDinCA has said, is about calling out and putting an end to what women (and perhaps others) have to endure in India and around the world. The message is loud and clear. Please check out their other songs. They have light and shade in their music. "Endurant" has a very powerful message AND a thoughtful video with a great ending. "Aaj" is just a delight on the sensory organs. Yaad" really gets you in the heart (esp. if you're an animal lover).

Did someone say folk metal?! Here's my list of folk metal bands that spans all inhabited continents Diablo Huma- Equador Hiddenland- Equador Cemican- Mexico MiracleOfSound-Ireland (look up his songs Sirona, Grainn Mahoil and Tale of Cu Chullain) Alestorm- Scotland (it's pirate metal but some people count it?) Tyr- Faroe Islands Percival- Poalnd/ Pan slavic Arkona-Russia Rune-Serbia Mägo de Oz-Spain Po' Metra Crijeva- Croatia (the band name means half a meter of guts) Manntra-Croatia Brkovi- Croatia (more of a punk band but look up their song "Ovce" a MAGICAL blend of rap, metal a, punk and folk influences) Metaklapa- Croatia (This one is weird ... they do covers of metal songs in traditional Dalmatian singing style .. for example they did Aces high) Dubioza Kolektiv- Bosnia & Hertzegovina (DO NOTE! This band is called a band with no genre for a reason! they varry from Regge R&B To Folk-Metal-Punk ... compare their "Space song" and "No escape from Balkans") Arka'n Asrafokor- TOGO (also worth of note is Skinflint from Botswana but they don't ussualy have much folk elements) Al-Namrood- Saudi Arabia (They played metal when it was punishable by death... IT DON'T GET MORE HARDCORE THAN THAT!) Hassak- Kazakhstan (it's an ethno band but listen to their song Amanat and tell me it don't belong on a metal concert) The Hu- Mongolia Nine Treasures - China/Inner Mongolia DreamSpirit- China Wagakki band- Japan Nini music- Taiwan BLOODYWOOD- India Alien weaponry- New Zealand Shepherds Reign- New Zealand/Samoa

Enjoyed your reaction! You really did dive right into the deep end with Dana Dan as your first Bloodywood experience. I hope you listen to more. I recommend my personal favorite, Endurant. It has such a good video. Or go to the lighter, more motivational side of their sound & check out Aaj. Seems to be the fan favorite as a personal anthem. No matter what, you can't go wrong with Bloodywood!

In India very well known is (really unfortunately) term "rape culture", which such naming sums it up in a way too well already ....when women themselves are blamed "to bringing it on them" more than men actually disgustingly doing those acts of violence in spirit of "boys are just boys / mistakes do happen" kind of putting down seriousness of such horrible vile acts on other person. :-/ Another very good song of that topic is his Bloodywood "rapper vocalist" Raoul Kerr's earlier non-metal track For Her, which can easily be found out here on KZbin as well. :Recommended:

It's funny how you released a Babymetal and Bloodywood reaction almost at the same time, these 2 bands have some of the best live energy (and I've seen them both live as well) and they are my personal top bands. Both bands also love to play with genres and blend them together in their own unique ways. Bloodywood and Babymetal are also the current biggest metal success on the international stage for both countries. I don't know enough about the events that sparked Dana Dan, but I've heard in the past in India rape is badly handled by the police and often not pursued for conviction. So I assumed it's that, if the police/state doesn't do it, I guess they feel some people need to take it into their own hands.... personally not a big fan of that, but as a last resort, I get why they arrive at that point. The big issue is obviously: wrongly accused innocent people could get badly hurt when the wrong person by accident.

Thanks for the reaction, this Band is a great experience and also great guys. Saw them in two venues, one small (250 people) and one big (2500+). In both they went out to the fans after the gig and talked very open and friendly to all who came to them.Dana Dan is one of the least "folky" songs of them. Think you should also check "Aaj" from them. First it is more folk influenced, second the lyrics are much more uplifting and positive. Looking forward to see more.

Well said, Josh!! I don't understand the intense message, either, so am of no help. To date, when I think of Folk Metal, I think of bands like D'Artagnan, Fleurswanz(sp), Wind Rose, Alestorm, etc.. the bands with their customary instruments as highlights, like the Irish Celtic music, or Scottish bagpipes,. Usually played in their Ballad songs in a Heavy Metal energized fashion. With that said, I did hear some cool India type instruments. Were they mocking the govts around the world for gaslighting new recruits?

Actually, the song is a rally cry for men to step up against other men who commit violence towards women. If you watch the video again, there are lyrics on the screen, although I think they were hard to see because the picture was pretty small. 👍

This is their least folk-y song. According to them, this song is the embodiment of the "homicidal rage" one feels toward people that assault women. Check out some of the other songs on their channel. There's no topic they won't write a song about - mental health, dealing with loss, government corruption, etc. I go to see them live bank in May - it was the best concert I've ever been to.
