It's funny that you mentioned RATM - they dubbed their first tour the "Raj Against The Machine" tour. (Their second was the "Naan Inch Nails" tour.) They understood the assignment *perfectly*.

The common shorthand name for the drum is : "dhol", and I hear it is damn near ubiquitous in certain areas of India and musical endeavors. The dance : to me, The Dance is that rhythm that rides over the top of the basic count... it's like dancing to a continuous backing vocal track, except it's played in and through the percussion. Their drummer is amazing at putting that all together (Vihesh Signh) "We don't have Locations that look like that"... well, have you seen portions of Portland lately? ... broken down vehicles are commonplace. Same where I live (Polk county, west of Salem)... except the car-husks are old pickups and broken down Studebakers. Fun fact : the guitarist (Karran, sp?) usually plays that red Cathode guitar in the videos because it's the most photogenic one he has, BUT he often records on an 8-string Ormsby (or so he said). Randon thought: I am waiting to see if Bloodywood ever puts together a song that uses Kannakol (a 'language' that describes the percussion notes on the tabla, etc) and the associated percusion... kind like the beginning of " La Danse du Bonheur" by Shakti (John McLaughlin) back in the70's. Of course, then they'd have to drag around a couple percussionists on tour, for just a few songs... so probably not in the cards

If you want the really heavy message song, check out their song Dana Dan. You will have to turn CC on for that one to get the lyrics

How fitting one of their tour (I think the first one) was called "RAJ against the machine"😂. "Nine Inch Naans" was the second 😂. I am a Swiss woman, adopted from india. I love the commentary, musical mix and they seem to be really nice people!❤👍🏾

Fun fact, trying to watch an analysis video super late while running on fumes is not a smart idea 😅. One minute the dudes are jamming then Twon is once again telling me to get out. I’m sure smart things were said at some point but I’ll leave a comment for algorithm stuff
