Bloodywood is just a play on Bollywood, but you know, just more metal.
@Robert_Herring3 ай бұрын
Bloodywood are the real deal. One of the most intense concerts I've ever attended was in Dallas with a bunch of Americans screaming in Hindi. They have a documentary called "Raj Against The Machine" about how they stormed and killed at Wacken. They have been unsigned most of their existence (rumor is that's changing. Karan, the guitarist, is the primary music writer, with Raoul (English rapper) and Jayant (Hindi rapper and harsh vocalist) adding lyrics. They only have one album and it slaps. They are very socially conscious and truly have hearts of gold. If you want heavier, check "Dana Dan", if you want a tear jerker, "Yaad". Both are fantastic, just in vastly different ways. The "Yaad" video includes a segment after the music video that will shine a light on the character and soul of these wonderful people.

This band is amazing, they also produce and film their own stuff, and have very important and often uplifting messages. Dana Dan for something hard, Aaj for uplifting. You actually cannot go wrong but some will make you cry.

Specially Yaad will make you cry. Not sure if I have seen one reaction that could go through that one without getting emotional.

@@Trelokor1 Yeah, I can't in good conscious recommend it. I have a very ridiculous cat that has made me laugh every single day since she moved in eight years ago. And I have been super burnt out and depressed on so many of those days. You can't dump all that on someone on song two.

@@caralynn. I lot one of my cats last year and the second one earlier this year. In the 14 years before they have been there for me in so many bad times. For me that song, while it makes me cry every time, it also brings me much joy. Also a few lines of that song became part of my first tattoo.

Had the pleasure of seeing Bloodywood live at the Novarock festival in Austria, i travelled 23 hrs on a plane from sydney Australia to attend the festival, mostly to see nightwish, and left with Bloodywood as my fave performance of the whole festival, they made the trip worth it. The crowd went wild! They are hugely popular on the european metal scene, anf have played at Wacken open air

Just hearing of these guys for the first time. Awesome! I think that drum is a Dholaka but not sure. I would guess Bloodywood is a play on Bollywood which is essentially one of the largest if not the largest film industries out of India.
@B.WaRnEd21243 ай бұрын
The 2-sided drum is a dhol. & you are correct. Bloodywood is a metal play of words on Bollywood, which is a play on Hollywood 🙂
@Wishi133 ай бұрын
The Indian movie industry is pretty big and very productive. It's slang name is Bollywood (after Hollywood). So, I believe Bloodywood is a play on the Bollywood theme or an unflattering statement about that industry - especially after seeing the lyrical nature of this particular song. The drum is a Mridangam. Bhangra Music/Punjabi EDM/Desi Beat - brings Indian folk and various dance music styles together using traditional Indian rhythms and instruments with modern instruments and techniques. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gH3VhJiEjZyfos0 This had elements of that style but with the hard metal element to it instead of dance. I've seen this video before, and love it. By the way, I'm from the UK myself but not of Indian heritage - I lived in an area that had a large community, and a few Indian friends along the way!

Definitely do the deep dive on this band! Every song on their debut, self-produced album Rakshak is amazing! I suggest Aaj next. It's their anthem song. & then check out Dana Dan (turn on CC) to get your faces ripped off.. in the best way 😆

They started as some dudes who did metalcovers of more or less popular songs and the name is/was initially meant as some sort of satirical joke on how Holly-/Bollywood work, something like that. Then they took off from there and the name stuck. They have an entire biography, 90ish minutes I think. You'll find it if you look for it, I can highly recommend it, time well spent. Plus they have a new song that just came out yesterday. (Yes, shameless advertising.)

The speech at the intro is from a Bollywood movie called Krantiveer. It basically translates as " here, this is the blood of a Hindu and this is the blood of a Muslim. Tell me the difference. If the creator god didn't differentiate, who the hell are you to say otherwise?"

The name "Bloodywood" combines "bloody," reflecting the intense, edgy nature of their metal music, with "wood," a nod to Bollywood. It signifies their fusion of heavy metal with traditional Indian sounds, blending raw energy with cultural flair. Just my take, watch out, their new album is dropping in Early 2025
