I enjoy the table atmosphere so much, I don't get why everyone is so negative about it? It's relaxed and chill and it's what I want from ENTERTAINMENT. I genuinely teared up a little bit with how hard I was laughing along at the table flip thing.

Because people are stuck in the past and fast forwarded to now without taking the time to educate themselves on what happened between then and now. They are angry because they mistakenly and ignorantly assume this show replaced Tabletop. They don't know, and they find it more satisfying to lash out based on their assumptions than learn and accept the truth. In short, they are human, and humans are stupid. :/

I enjoy watching Game the Game occasionally, but I don't think it has the spirit or personality of Table-Top.

That's because it's a different show with different production. It's not supposed to be Tabletop, nor was it ever intended to be. Both shows existed at the same time. Tabletop simply stopped being made and Game the Game didn't, that's all.

Is there anyone who knows what happened to this channel? Such great shows like Tabletop, Spellslingers etc getting in 1-2M views to this scraping to get over 10k. I know Critical Role moved to their own channel, but what executive took over and ruined a channel which had such great content?

G&S created Tabletop and Wil walked away. G&S created Critical Role and Critical Role became an internet phenomenon. Spellslingers happened last year I believe and still could be a thing. Most of their content was stymied by the failed launch and eventual fall of Alpha. At this point KZbin is a distant secondary platform for them. Twitch is where they make all their content. That's just how the channel evolved.

The channel got bought out. They moved the content onto a streaming site and so WIl Wheaton left, many theorise it's because they were making changes to his show he didnt like, you'll notice a lot of the time these games are promotions for games coming out rather than a passion project, and critical role maintained the rights to their content so they left and now their content isn't blocked behind a pay wall.

@@Jynxedkitten People don't need to theorize. I watched it happen in real time. Wil wasn't told Tabletop was going to premier on Alpha exclusively and then on KZbin months later. He said they were going to be released at the same time and when he was made a fool of because they didn't communicate that to him, combined with the backlash they suffered at Alpha's shitty launch (they basically crapped all over the community that the channel was built on), Wil distanced himself from it altogether. The entire situation was mishandled. Alpha got much better, but too late for Wil. He was done with it. Critical Role was never behind a paywall. It always goes up on KZbin at the same time it has since the channel launched.

I said theorise cos there was a lot of behind the scenes drama that we don't know about plus Wil was trying not to go into detail most of the time and a lot of it was unconfirmed rumour, but there definitely was mention of unrealistic schedules and pressure. As for the pay wall I was referring more to talks machina rather than critical role itself. Beyond the specials I've not seen the season 1 talks because of this.

@@Jynxedkitten Talks Machina was imagined specifically for Alpha. I don't know what else to say beyond that. It was their platform and if they didn't intend for it to ever be seen outside of Alpha, you can't really fault them for it. I don't consider that worthy of a paywall accusation, personally. Matt Mercer reportedly prevented them from changing Critical Role's release schedule. THAT would have been bullshit. To delay it's posting on KZbin so more people would pay for Alpha? Talks however, that was native to that platform.
