Under CEO Jamie Dimon, JPMorgan Chase was arguably the healthiest of the nine largest U.S. banks and did not need to take TARP funds.

The one thing I agree with Jamie Dimon on is the immigration of highly skilled workers. My coworkers who have PhDs have an extremely long and difficult road to citizenship. Make it easy for them to become citizens and let them stay. They are highly skilled, pay lots of taxes, and are working to make quality of life better for Americans. If you immigrate to the US and get an advanced degree you should be allowed to stay.

It's so fun watching a video from 5 years ago, where Jamie Dimon compares socialism to a "one-state corporation". The funniest of all is that Bernie Sanders has devoted his entire life to explaining the negative effects of monopolies and oligopolies. Well, if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is definitely not an elephant. 🙃 Would you like another example for socialism - a shattered and broken economy, with every single business that went under, and all that's left is a group of hungry, poor, helpless, and whoever it is that they voted to represent them. I believe someone described that as "the race to the bottom" for a specific, not general case.

So is Venezuela doing great?
@rodfranc75978 жыл бұрын
HDaviator I said it was good to a certain degree Venezuela is an example of extreme socialism. The best countries have a great mix of a little bit of socialism and capitalism like Canada. The U.S can afford to expand their socialistic programs but Conservatives are completely against that.
@hdaviator91818 жыл бұрын
The U.S. has a nearly 19 trillion dollar debt. It cannot afford to expand its social programs. It actually needs to cut social programs.

I am a great supporter of free markets. I believe that regulations should be kept to a minimum. So if a lose money in the stock market or any other financial market, I will accept my loss. But these wall street guys are such hypocrites. In good times they talk a lot of shit about the government, but when there is a financial crisis they start crying and asking for tax payer money. gtfoh. Always keep it 100. If you dont like the government, dont ask them for money.
@JustinIm276 жыл бұрын
Lol but the government forced JPMorgan to take tarp funds when they declined. Look it up. The federal government also begged Jamie to save Bear Stearns and then hit Jamie with a $19bn lawsuit for improper conduct that took place at Bear before JPMorgan was asked to buy it. Jamie has a legit reason to be wary of the government.

He is a great politician -- the truth -- there really is none so he cannot be blamed for selling positions. I think we all know the truth in our hearts anyway -- this is just a game of musical chairs with the consequences being culling in financial health or actual physical death of economies, nations, regions or individuals -- it is not his fault the system is a dynamic mess -- but he is not a visionary altruist -- nor does the world want one. Do you want him to tell you seek general security and roll the dice in the larger economy but do so with a safety net? That's really the only message -- watch Macro movements and micro movements and try to move on them and pull your rewards out when you make them to buy tangible wealth/security and then repeat...... that does not get a lot of listens!

The only thing I disagree with him on, is the separatist idea that there is some unique "American way of life"... there is no such thing. This is a clear misunderstanding of what America is. He is right that America is no one "tribe" but even that statement contradicts what he said initially. America is a pluralistic society, with a variety of cultures, ideologies, values, and customs... we will be better off as a people once we accept and understand this truth.

The "bad" populism seen in North Korea and Venezuela is not the kind of populism seen in the US and UK. The UK wants to be more global not less - the issue is laws created by un-elected officials with no "skin in the game" (they do not suffer the consequence of bad policy).

Regarding wage issue: The one big thing he didn't touch is the CEO pay. Why he got pay so much? A cap must be set on those pays. That's the fact of few people in those position ripping off the society is one of the major problem why society is breaking down too. Both left and right are the problems.

Yes he does and so his company too. The stockholders are the interest group they too ripping off others too such as: getting free money from FED, buying up competitors, lay off workers, monopoly the market control pricing power, contribute to corrupt politician making laws all benefit for themselves to get pay more and more.
@hdaviator91818 жыл бұрын
Seems like Fed giving them money is more of and argument against the feds than him. Also, all of the things you have mentioned are perfectly legal things to do. So it seems like one should blame the government, not the bank.

Many assume that because the few men capable of doing the job he's done, and making it look like a breeze at the same time, this somehow means he owes you something. He owes you nothing, and since you don't even understand the concept of rent-seeking, you'll likely not become a politician and this won't be in the position to steal legally. In the end it comes down to who has the hard money and soft power to liquidate the PBC.

Jamie, what makes you bad is the customers and tax payers you defraud through fractional reserve banking and predatorial (by judge's words, not exaggerated at all - in fact MORE accurate than a layman's phrasing) lending. ETF leverage limits increased from 3x to 4x this week. Which of your customers benefit from that and the dark pool of secret clearing? What you do makes you bad, not because you're a banker. You're not a victim of prejudice.

@chegadesuade8 жыл бұрын
Small societies do have the advantage of social cohesion, but even without any consensus on national values democracy appears to thrive equally well in large societies. We have survived our bitter differences without splitting up, like most empires throughout history, we aren't weakened by having a vast multicultural population.
