I am happy i have all the O.G. squirrel cards in foil (350 for deranged hermit, yikes) and got my copy of earthcraft many years ago. I used to run a 60 card mono green squirrel list which was very fun. Im not much into the aristocrats of squirrels. All of my token makers are clues, treasure, or food tokens. I would honestly love if they gave us a mono green legendary that cared about squirrels. Im more about just swarming. Squirrels are one of the easiest creatures to combo with as far as making tokens. The three lords that make squirrels on etb and the mono black guy that makes them equal to your devotion to black all combo with nim deathmantle. Also, acorn catapult is great with cacaphodon. Today is the beginning of spoilers! So excited!!

Another combo is Basking Broodscale and Ghost Lantern. Equip the Broodscale with the lantern activate his adapt and you can generate infinite tokens and colorless mana and if you have any zulaport cutthroat you will just win

That is in the works right now! Gonna do a video discussing the precon itself, and an additional, separate video discussing the individual support, including any cards we get that might not make it into the 99 of a Squirrel Commander deck.

I was happy when I snagged a copy of Earthcraft that was altered and signed by the og artist where the elves got replaced with squirrels. Confirmed with the artist that he had a few commissions for the alter.

Mh3 is supposed to have a new aristocrat that also gives you a token when it comes into play. So if you use this new aristocrat with plunderer you don't have necessarily need tokens to start the loop. While chatterfang is fun and uber fast, unfortunately it's very exposed to interaction with only 1 card for protection. The deck tends to draw a lot of attention from other players, making life very tough for old Chatterfang. This is why the 100+ dollar combo in earthcraft and squirrel nest is very nice. Because its hard to interact with.

Ok there's actually a way cheaper option to the earthcraft combo. Now it does require 3 cards in order to work instead of 2 (but price wise is a steal). Ashaya, soul of the wild (turns all nontoken creatures into forests), squirrel nest, and argothian elder (tap to untap 2 lands). With these 3 cards you technically have to earthcraft combo but costs less then $20

I assume you use Argothian Elder to untap itself (part Forest) and the land enchanted with Squirrel Nest? This is amazing actually.

@@PlaneswalkerProject yep. Definitely has it's drawbacks since it needs 3 cards 2 of which are creatures, but it's a great alternative and at least for me lends itself well to other combos since it's also infinite mana if you just use ashaya and elder

I'm a bit bittersweet on this, when I found Chatterfang to make a brawl deck for my "dailies" on Arena, I had a blast, the theme was squirreles and zombies (now squirrels and rats from WoE), this deck seems to probably bring all the staples one could need for commander, but now I feel these deck and set will bring so many updates and new squirrel staples that'll make golgari squirrels even more common instead of a fun adition to a pool. How do you feel being a Squirrel Specialist ? Do we have enough squirrels to bring diversity to deckbuilding ? (we didnt before but there arent that many people playing squirrels as there will be with a precon). Im still happy to see what we will have and the whole set seems very sweet. Great video thou! I didnt know you liked squirrels and will keep my eye on for new videos!

My current build does lean into some changelings to supplement the squirrels, but I would gladly welcome more actual squirrel creatures. I would hope that the main set would introduce some squirrels that the precon deck either doesn't include or doesn't need. We've gotten a few white Squirrels in the last few years, and I think the design space they're looking at might give alot of new tools, for the casual ends and the competitive ends of the Squirrel strategy.

Good idea. It’s likely a lot of the squirrel cards will go up in price as we get closer to release.

These are really good options (entirely blanked on Skeletal Swarming), but I worry that the new precon will try to do something different enough from Chatterfang that a token aristocrat strategy won't mesh with the new cards. I'll definitely make an update to this as we close in on Bloomburrow.
