For anyone curious Joey Lawrence did have a video and an album out. I think they did actually premiere it after an episode. The hit single was called "Nothing my love can't fix!" It's a fun colorful video. He does rap in it too with my favorite classic lyric, "Something something me and you , 'cause baby you been acting like I smell like a zoo!" LMFAO that is classic! This is the best Blossom skit.

I remember the episode; at the end, Joey falls asleep on the sofa and "dreams" the music video. The song was produced by Steve Barri and Tony Peluso, two of music's all-time greatest producers. The over dramatisation of the show is spot on. Everything Blossom did was drama. The nose was probably in poor taste but Mayam’s nose is quite prominent and SNL capitalises on making fun of actor’s features and quirks.

Melanie mentioned on the Fly on the Wall podcast with Spade and Carvey that this was the one sketch that haunted her because it poked fun at a then teenage Mayim and she heard it bothered her. Melanie said years later she saw Mayim at an audition and apologized to her in tears, and Mayim responded with "You are released!" (something to that effect) and bore her no ill feelings.

There isn't enough room for every talented person to get famous. There were a lot of funny people from SNL who never really made it: Ellen Cleghorn, Julia Sweeney, Tim Meadows, Kevin Nealon... Yeah, Melainie was hilarious, she played Jan Brady, Tori Spelling, Blossom, a sorority girl, and best of all, just random idiots, like one woman on one of those audience participation shows, asking presidential candidates "where's my stuff?" - absolutely hilarious.

John Doe I sincerely think it was Sara Gilbert deliberately hamming it up because she possibly came from the mindframe of "well I'm a teen actor playing a teen on a show that deals with teen and family issues (Roseanne) too, but WE DO IT BETTER!". She arguably thought, or maybe the SNL writers thought Six was ditzy, something ripe for mockery. Which she wasn't. That's how it comes off to me. Or maybe she seen Blossom and thought it was generic and she's projecting snarky hamminess into that possible assertion? You're right, Six sounded nothing like that on the real Blossom. It still was funny because it was silly and lame. But in the same token I can see it as just being lame.

They didn't have many other options at the time. Julia Sweeney couldn't pass as Blossom or Six. Jan Hooks maybe. But Melanie was definitely miscast here.

@@cammy85 Makes me wonder why Jay Mohr wasn’t used as Joey here. He was young enough at the time to pass as a teenager. He played one on the sitcom _Camp Wilder_ the season before.
