So informative and helpful, thank you! I'm just starting out & had no idea about the heat temps & the differences it made. Great vid!

how do you get them to print at different temps in the same print?
@ViridianFlow8 ай бұрын
It's all part of the gcode. It'll do the layer of the tower then the gcode changes the temperature before doing the next layer
@V-Angel8 ай бұрын
Is the temp preseted or I have to doit manually at the slicer ?
@ViridianFlow8 ай бұрын
@@V-Angel Depends on if you find a gcode for your model of printer. The better option is to use something like Orca Slicer, which has a bunch of calibration towers built into it. Just open a new project, look up top for the calibration menu and select temperature and it'll make you a temperature tower for your specific printer.
@xscitobor12338 ай бұрын
@@ViridianFlow do you know if flash forge has that capability or if Orca slicer can be used with them?

Since i started printing pla at 180 to 195 degrees i have not seen any stringing. The parts may be weaker than printing them with higher temps but i print only pieces for aesthetic reasons ( figures, miniatures, toys)

The problem with such a low temp is that the part breaks / splits easily . The becomes weak , so what's the solution ?

You have to use a low speed for strong parts. Search on KZbin - there tests published. For example ABS gives the strongest parts around 50-75 mm/s speed. This is a very slow speed, but this way layers warm up with every pass and you get stronger adhesion. So the fast print is not the strongest print.

@@Utseuskiit's been tested that faster printing leads to degraded quality and strength
@enodenmad3 ай бұрын
@@kawaiichiNot true exactly... Perfect prints take the correct settings. These settings change with printer capabilities. Printing the same model on and Ender 3 VS a Voron, VZbot, or Ratrig will have to print slower on the Creality machine... It's just a difference in parts. How fast the motors can move... how big the heat chamber is... how strong the extruder is and close to the chamber... nozzle size and material... how much cooling for the hotend assembly and parts. It's not hard to see if you want to print fast quality parts your machine has to lay down lots of hot plastic in the right places with the right amount of cooling. 😅 I've dabbled in custom printer builds, Klipper and seven different hotend setups as well as looked into pellet feeding... Reducing stringing is a dance with temperature, retraction, and filament type/quality.

So every time I have new filament I have to waste some time and filament to print this tower? And do you change the temperature while printing the tower or do you print a few with different temperatures?
@xrc75764 ай бұрын
I had to manually change the temperature for each stage (220, 215, etc.). Setup: Bambu X1 Carbon with Bambu Studio. I used temp-tower-pla.stl

*I'd rather have a stronger part and that means HIGHER TEMPS. Strings can quickly be burned away with a hand sized Cigar lighter, the kind with 4 jets. Cost is about $15.00 at any online retailer.*

You print cold and instantly get poor layer adhesion, warping etc. So oversimplifying things like in this video is a completely useless advice.
