I'm a retired hairstylist, and this is the best how-to quick blow dry video ever! Especially the application of product. It's such an important skill. I used to hold a complimentary "Blow Dry 101" class twice a year for my personal clients so they could learn how to do their hair. There is no point sending a woman home with a kick-a$$ hair cut that she can't replicate at home on her own. Well done!

I have light curls and frizz. I tried different techniques of blow drying. I still haven't found the perfect method for myself, but have gotten better. I just wish hairstylists would show me how to blow my hair wavy. My hairstylist always straightens my hair, so asking him for tips doesn't work. I only dry the front and try to let the back dry naturally. Any suggestions?

I've never been able to do my hair well, I was never taught really either and my hair is too short now to do much with. Once I grow it out enough though, taking even just a blow drying class would be amazing. I wonder if something like that is offered where I live. I need help! lol

+Georgia Gaul Like she said you should dry the hair when the hair is wet with a hot dryer. It is hard work but you have to do it section by section. I should know. Hairdressers seem to be too lazy to do anything except straighten it.

Thank you so much for this video! I have a developmental disorder and had never been shown how to correctly blow dry my hair and would always get embarrassing assumptions that I just wasn't washing my hair well enough. Although I went to extra methods to make sure that wasn't the problem. And nobody bothered to investigate further to help me solve the mystery and understand what the problem actually was. Until I happened upon your video this morning, I had no idea I was actually making two blow dry mistakes. It was a huge help and changed everything just to see what to do to fix it!

Tip for you to add in video. When you apply a product, especially something with a consistency and oily texture like a serum, apply in the nape/lower back area region underneath first before the front, sides, and the top. Reasons, 1) that area is usually alway the thickest area on the scalp, and if you accidentally put too much product on, that area can compensate for a little extra if this would happen and it's the hidden area of view. 2) Reduces getting other hair wet if washing is your option, then you won't wet other sections of the hair wet, only back snd under area. 3) Again, least noticeable if overused the product.

Lol! Love her mild sarcasm. I also blowdry with the direction of the hair whorl on my forehead and then flip opposite direction for the part...that creates natural volume instead of fighting the circular pattern my hair has. I've learned long ago to work with my natural hair pattern instead of trying to make it look like someone else. It also means I gave up on a center part long ago. Turns out, off center makes you look younger anyways :)

I regret that there are those who are hell bent on making rather nasty comments about the video makers themselves--none of it helpful at best; hurtful and distasteful at worst. I've never understood why under cover of anonymity some people think it's acceptable to make rude comments such that they would never say to a person's face. Fortunately, there are others who express what a presenter might possibly add that would make their video(s) even more useful, but the commenter does it tactfully and stays away from making it personal. There are others who will compliment the presenter to counterbalance the negativity of others and sometimes cuz they just love to find something they can praise the presenter for, In these three cases, I for one applaud their determination to keep the dialogue positive.

Ann Wright I agree with you 100%. I remember when YT was such a positive place to be and viewers were thrilled to have content. Now the negative seems to outweigh the positive. People seem to forget that if a tutorial doesn't apply to you, skip it and move to the next. No one is making anyone suffer through a tutorial so there is no need for any negativity. I completely disagree with Ann Wright! Everyone sees these 'mistakes' and often want to help but people are so offensive these days. She didn't say anyone's names just the 'mistakes' she sees. I don't feel that she is being nasty in any way shape or form. The heat setting is a big thing, and a lot of people assume the hotter the better. I am a daughter of a hair stylist and I see a lot of mistakes as well. I have often tried to help people and they get offended. I feel you tube is a great place to find information and I also find her video quite helpful. I think it's unfortunate you are putting negativity into a quite helpful video. I wish you a great day none the less!

I also use a cool shot to set my hair with my dryer-that way even if I’m quickly doing my hair it cools and sets into place with zero frizz. The other thing I will do if I want some curl is I will twist my hair into a bun with a jaw clip while it’s still warm from the dryer and do my makeup or whatever and then take it down before i leave the house. Not only does it add volume and life, jaw clips don’t leave bumps in my hair❤️
@aprildawn86926 жыл бұрын

I looove that trick with the clipped up bun while my hair is still warm!! It gives me perfect waves. My hair is already wavy and takes to curl easily though, maybe wouldn't work as well with straight hair.
@audreyhenderson62025 жыл бұрын
Amber F I do this as well. At night when I do to bed I just pull my hair up as I would as if I were going to put it in a high pony then I twist it then I start at the bottom of this hair that I’ve twisted and make it into a bun on the top of my head and like a cinnamon bun would look then just tuck your ends in anywhere under your bun and just spray a little hair spray if you want. In the morning after brushing your teeth, makeup breakfast all that and take out and walla beautiful waves and they will all go in the direction you twisted it in the night before. Both directions looked great and this way your not drying your hair out and you can get away without washing it everyday! Try it it really works well with my very fine straight hair but a friend of mine who has black very frizzy dry type hair and she does this trick too, only puts product in her hair first like a smoothener like I would use a volumizer throughout ALL THE HAIR before brushing or just pulling it up before twisting into a bun at the top of your head. Good luck I hope you like this!

@jeankeats32006 жыл бұрын
She's right. That WILL burn the hair and create split ends and dryness. I always use just the warm setting and it gets dry quickly. I go by this...if it burns your skin, it'll burn your hair. dryness in the hair destroys body and bounce. I'm a Wen girl and using ONLY Wen and her techniques make my hair so amazing. I use a paddle brush to pre dry and then go to round brush on mids and ends when it's almost dry. Comes out salon quality every day!

Jean Keats How long have you used wen and how long did it take for you to notice a change in your hair? I used it but it says to go it twice. That would be using do much product and more money bc you'd run out quicker.
@jeankeats32006 жыл бұрын
Hi Danielle, if your hair is color treated and dry on the ends, then I would do a good trim. If your hair is in decent shape then you will see a difference after one use. Wen can be used as, shampoo, conditioner, leave in conditioner, shave cream, body cleanser, detangler, body lotion, all in one bottle. Yes, you have to do cleanse, rinse and repeat because it does not lather. I've had people approach me, total strangers, exclaiming, YOUR HAIR IS BEAUTIFUL! One girl was following me in a parking lot, to a store and just looking, I turned around and was about to say, can I help you? When she said the above and asked me what I did or if I just left a salon. I was not in a good mood at the time and when this happened, I smiled and said, I'm a Wen girl! She said does it really work? I said you tell me! Anyway, it depends on the length of your hair. Short hair, six pumps first cleanse, six pumps, second. If hair is shoulder length, I would do eight and eight to make sure ends and mids are covered. Long hair, Ten crown, ten, mids, ten ends. Use splash of water with each application, massage in, add another splash to get it emulsified and CREAMY, the scents Chaz has are heavenly! His body treatments are amazing too. Yes, it's a bit pricey but it does do all the things mentioned above and his body treatment, the results will blow you away. Wen does not strip the hair of natural oils. Lather is the enemy. Yes, lather cleanses, but strips and leaves hair parched with split ends. After you cleanse with Wen, you'll see your hair will be soft, supple, incredible shine and body, like hair should be. I've been a Wen girl almost nine years now. Go to QVC's site under beauty then choose Wen and see all the goodies! QVC does easy pay at times, this way you do small payments, no interest, just pay for what you buy. To learn more, go to chaz dean store and learn who he is and why he created Wen. It really IS amazing. I love it so much I want to tell the world! LOL! Thank you for asking me. I hope you love Wen as much as I do.

Hope this helps! :) And I bet you notice them way more than anyone else would. We're SO hard on ourselves nevermind the people on here that are ripping this girl to shred for only trying to help. Lindsay Millward I have naturally wavy hair, but very frizzy. I’ve found that the more I touch and brush the more frizz. I let my hair air dry my hair with an anti frizz serum and leave in conditioner spray. Also when towel drying I twist and throw up. If you must use a towel blot don’t rub. But the more you touch the more frizz.

Well after I wash my hair I blot it with a T shirt and then wrap my hair up in the shirt for a few minutes then I put my hair serum/elixir in it and let it air dry and zero frizz !!! My hair is never frizzy by doing it this way! Hope this helps!

I watched this thinking "oh this is just how I blow dry my hair!" Cut to today when I am blow drying my hair and OMG what a difference! I was constantly going against the direction of my hair (especially on one side and always wondered why it was so much smoother on the other side when I was done) and I never waited until it was damp & not dripping wet. Thank you for posting this- you helped me so much!

You are so cute! You always make me smile or laugh. I’ve been following you since 2014 and by far you are my favorite vlogger. You are down to earth and very genuine. Keep up the fantastic videos. Be safe too with this crazy Covid-19 pandemic. May God bless you and your family.

Absolutely. This way it can't dry and be all a mess if you tackle bangs first!

I have to do that too.

I was pleased to watch your video and found that I was doing most of the things you suggested. I did learn a new tip. I have let my hair grow out and it is longer now than it has ever been and I was getting a tangled mess in the back and many times unaware till I got home. I was wondering how to keep this from happening and happy to see you explain just that issue!!!

Hi Kate! I bought the Aquage uplifting foam and applied it this way... and it left my hair really sticky and heavy. :( Maybe I used too much? I have a lot of thin, fine, straight hair

Kate I used all of your tips from this video and my hair looks amazing now! I have baby fine wavy hair so it gets frizzy after I blow dry it. Now it looks smooth and has some bounce. Especially after I use the hot tools heated round brush. ( I hope I said that right) which I got right after I saw your video on it. Thank you so much I love your videos! Congrats on the new baby!

Is the order that you applied the products the correct order: heat protectant, serum, then mouse? 🤷🏼♀️

Love this so much. I am a cosmo student at Paul Mitchell. I have been finding that my blow drys are good but aren't great. I will definently be trying these tips to better help my clients. Would you possibly do a video with tips and tricks for cosmo students and life behind the chair?

The best investment I ever made for my hair was saving up for a Dyson hair dryer. It dries my hair in less than 10 minutes and is very gentle.
@carolwalsh21816 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. I have tried so many expensive dryers including the top of the line T3 dryers. They continue to get hotter and hotter over months of using them, which dries out hair. Dyson is checking the temps every few seconds, it's light, it's quiet, and it is so well made. I think I finally found the perfect dryer, despite the high cost. :)
