Blower motor not working 2011 Audi TT, easy fix!!

The blower motor is prone to having issues in some older Audi vehicles including the TT. If this happens your heating and air conditioning system will become inoperative. This video demostrates an easy way to check for and identify the problem, and easily fix the issue in some instances.

Thanks very much for this. My 2007 MK2 blower just stopped. Just popped off the side cover. Then got the vent open by hitting the re-cycle button. Turned ignition off. Managed to get my hand in and turn it several time clockwise. Took three goes of doing that and on the last attempt I turned it both anti-clockwise and clockwise. Turned ignition on and BINGO!!! Fan was working. Cheers for this.

Really does work, had yo try a few attempts , but it worked , only on the blowing up position , rest of the position makes a like a sticking noise , grunting type sound . But better than not working at all.. thanks

Thanks so much for this video. My 2010 8j TTS blower stopped working completely. Your top tip about gaining access to the fan to see if it rotates was really helpful and basically saved me a whole world of grief and cash. Top tip - if you turn the blower off or on recycling mode it opens the valve vent so that you can see the fan. Best have it in the off position while poking fingers in there. Confirmed that the fan was indeed stiff so committed to removing the glovebox to take the fan out completely. After a good clean up and a ton of lube it is now spinning freely again. Job done. @@martinworobec6616 This video is great at identifying if the blower is ceased. I managed to get it working again for a bit but ultimately it failed again. Even removed the fan blower and oiled it up but it ceased up again within a week. If you have the same problem it’s actually fairly cheap and easy to fix. Buy a new £45 blower motor fan and do it yourself. Literally a few screws and about 30 minutes. This shows how to remove the glove box. It’s for a different problem but you need to get the glove box completely removed and disconnected to get easy access to the blower fan. IMPORTANT: Keep your keys out of the ignition until you have completely finished disconnecting and reconnecting everything or you will end up with a passenger airbag warning light and another problem to fix! kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGa7lo13h5imaas Once the glovebox is removed you’ll see a tab on the blower fan, untwist the blower fan and it will drop out. Disconnect it. Connect your new fan. Don’t try to test it without refitting the glovebox cables! Thanks for the video! - Worked out that my fan seized using it, and was able to free it up using my hand as shown. As others have commented, might need to fiddle with the controls to make sure the vent is open so you can reach in to the fan to move it. This was for a right hand drive 2010 model - it was behind the passenger glove box as shown.

Thank you very much. Fans suddenly stopped working one day on TTS 2009; not safe for UK winter days. Even with my small skinny hands I could only touch part of the fan blade with the tip of my finger, but enough to force the fan to turn.

By the way, on my vehicle there is a metal box largely blocking access to the space. Removing it looks like a huge job, so I had to use a thin stick to rotate the blower.

Same problem with blower not working couldn’t get my hand through the side so removed glove compartment sprayed WD40 on shaft and turned by hand it was tight turned blower on and it worked finished off with spraying with oil seems ok

Ill have to do a video on that, doesnt look like there are any on youtube. Glove box is removed using t25 torx but, i think 6 scres or so, 3 top inside 3 bottom underneath i beleive. Then the motor can be accessed and removed from the bottom. Its been a bit since idve done one on these but the motor will twist counterclockwise i believe to release it downward. There may be one screw in place preventing it from twisting i cant recall exactly.

There is a tray in the cowl panel designed to keep water out. Some moisture is normal due to its presence in the air, however actual water droplets are not.

I have a mk2 08 3.2 and my blower no longer blows, but has a shiny metal box with 3 connectors right where you put your arm through to spin and free up the blower motor, so looks like i have to remove the glove box to test the motor, I can hear it click and atttempt to spin when i move the dial too blow, so guessing its stuck. this would have been a quick fix otherwise. thanks for sharing.

Sorry, yes the 3.2 cars tend to have some odd qualities to them. In order to fit everything in the car Audi had to shuffle things around and youll find most areas are more crowded on those than on the other versions of the tt.

I have this issue and the blowers sometimes come on briefly so it does seem to be because it's getting seized. However when I take the panel off my motor is completely sealed so I can't move it? Any advice?

Push the recirculation button on your control head and make sure defrost and ac are off, this will move the recirculation flap to allow you to access the blower motor.

Its a plastic fan basket, so yes bumpy but more plastic than rubber. So its shaped like a bowl and the sides of the bowl have tilted slits to move air, your trying to get your finger tips on the sides of this bowl and spin it.
