I recently replaced the blower motor and resistor on my 2006 Ford Focus. The old motor had stopped working, so I purchased a new one from Amazon and installed it. Additionally, I noticed a burning smell coming from the blower resistor, so I decided to replace it for safety reasons. I used Kobalt tools for the job.

Awesome! Thanks for being so thorough...even down to the size of the wrench one needs.

Thanks! I got them in and it worked. The resister was pretty easy. The hardest part was putting the new blower back in...the screw holes were too tight to hand start the screws. Holding the blower up with one hand and ratcheting the screws in with the other was tough...ended up having my son hold the blower up while I put in the screws.

I had to replace the blower motor on some other vehicles. The Focus looks VASTLY easier. I've found most repairs on Foci to be pretty easy, with the exception of alternator replacement.

I recharged my AC, and it would blow cold for a minute but get warm soon after. I had a feeling it was the motor or the resistor. This video helped so much, thank you!

Sounds like my issue? 2011 Focus SE after freon boost would work 2 -3 weeks and then I switched to maximum to get cold air 😅 good luck 🤞🏼

I guarantee that car does not have one standard bolt or nut on it. 5/16" is the same as 8mm fortunately. Thanks for the straight to the point video. Just what I needed.

excellent tutorial clear and concise. I Wish that I had found this before tackling my own 2003 Focus heater fan issue yesterday. I guess we often use different words to describe the same thing either side of the pond. I went looking for 'non working heater fan ' so your video didn't show up for me. Terrific editing by the way.

How do I know it isn’t the blower motor switch that has failed? When I turn the a/c fan controller it feels “ disconnected” , just turns with no feeling of connection. It does however cause the little light to come in indication that the a/c has been activated.

Before I start buying parts my 2011 Focus SE is blowing on 1,2,3,4 but not cool as well but on Max it's cold. Freon was added and good but before that it was lasting 2-3 weeks? Trouble shooting and a video showed pressure switch? Trying to save money as I only get paid monthly VA check. Thanks for your video 👍🏼

Ron, my blower stopped working completely at all speeds. I had it on setting 3 and was blowing fine then just stopped. (2007 SE)The fuse is good. Is this the blower motor or something else? Selector switch?
@channelron3593
@channelron3593 2 жыл бұрын
usually this is caused by the blower resistor.

@@channelron3593 hey, i had the classic problem, first 3 speeds not working and the 4th worked perfectly. a couple days ago even the 4th speed was gone, so i changed the resistor. now the blower fuse goes out everytime i try to use the blower. any ideas?

Hi Ron. I have a 2006 which works on setting 3 and 4 but not on 1 and 2. Is this likely to be a resistor pack/ or as someone else said it might be the switch on the dash. Can the resistor pack work with just 3 and 4? will the resistor pack break as a whole or can it just stop working on 1 and 2? Really pleased with the car as a whole.
@channelron3593
@channelron3593 4 жыл бұрын
Yes I would agree the resistor pack would be my fist guess.

Do you get a chirping sound, when the blower motor plays up?' I've got a 2006 ford focus estate and the Aircon makes a chirping cricket sound when it's on..wondered if the motor has gone faulty

Sir, you quickly skipped over the hardest part of the removal of the resistor process by pretending you hadn't already pushed the resistor tab in to free the resistor. Instead, you just pulled the harness connector straight out saying, "Pull the connector on there..." at time 3:09. Not too swift. I'm sure you had a hard time getting at that tab that holds the resistor harness in place, otherwise you would have shown that step in detail. For those who are going to replace their resistor, keep in mind it might be best to remove the entire resistor BEFORE you pull the harness out of its slot. This will give you a better grip on the resistor with both hands instead of doing it with only one hand. The tab is pushed IN to release the resistor, not pulled out. If your Focus has a hex-head screw instead of a Phillips screw holding the resistor in place, use an 8mm socket. A 5/16 socket may work as well. Also, you did a Cluster Phuck of removing the Air Deflector. Had you tilted the deflector up from its horizontal position to a vertical position, it would have slid right down and out. Didn't you view any KZbin videos before making yours? Good luck to you.
