Mooring up in Appley Bridge we bump into Emma from Narrow Escapes and we pop onboard our friends narrowboat Speedwell to meet Phil & Lynn, the lovely couple who have offered us their narrowboat to use in Winter if our boat sells. We take a lovely evening walk along the towpath, lit by the harvest moon. We are thoroughly enjoying everything about living in a marina. However, we are both planning on having next summer off work. I wonder what that will feel like. The word 'freedom' comes to mind. As does the word 'scary'. Actually, the right word is probably 'overwhelmed'. Anyway, our first winter is rapidly approaching!

Haven’t been for years and forgotten how beautiful it is. People are really kind, they are a lovely couple too. I had lens replacement a few years back (same op as cataract) and it has been incredible given how short sighted I was. Glad you enjoyed the vlog. Have a lovely weekend ♥️

Not to sound like an old lady or anything. I had cataracts in both eyes and had new lenses put in. They are magical! I’ve had to wear glasses since I was 7 (lots and lots of years). The only time I need to wear any correction is when I’m reading music (which is what I do for a living). BUT!! I can wear sunglasses for the first time ever! 😂

Lots of your fans don't live in the UK, so would never get a chance to see so many beautiful places the Uk has. Paul, I just had my cataracts done this past January. But my dr told me it might help to wear a bill hat with my sunglasses. For me, it really helped. Maybe try that, since the sun in the northern hemisphere is a lot lower. I'm so glad i became a member. Take care both of you.

My husband had a detached retina and they said he would get a cataract within 6 months of it getting fixed so replaced lenses at the same time as op to fix retina. Hope all goes well.xx

My hubby John has just had a double op last week on his eye( second op to come) He has Glaucoma and has become 100% allergic to all drops after 20+ years. He had the glaucoma op and also cataract removal and for the first time in 64 years does not need to wear glasses for the eye operated on ( as of today has a clear lens) With the op he needs to wear a peak cap to shade the eye as it is ultra sensitive to light - especially the Autumn sun. It's been like a miracle this past week with his eyesight coming back so amazingly and his pressure in that eye is now just 6 instead of 20+ . You definitely need to wear a cap over those eyes of yours

After mine, not only general eyesight was greatly improved but colors were brighter and sharper. No eye patch and could see better almost immediately through the clear eye shield. Paul is a brilliant artist.i draw and paint and do cartons. Haven't done any for a while,I'm self-taught.iv done and paint all sorts, I Draw a tramp in the woods especially when I was out for a meal, after I would draw my tramp in the woods on nearly every won,s paper napkins it only tuck me about a minute or so for each ,they all kept them.witch was nice.

York is a fabulous place to visit. I know all these places have upkeep and costs, but some of the entrance prices are keeping ordinary families out. I never got around to the walk around the city, I wish I had. Glad you had a great visit, the homeowners were so kind. xx

It was lovely to see York again! We visited the UK in 2018, and really want to get back. Thank you for taking us along on your visit! I had detached retina surgery in January, and was told to expect cataracts within 2 years. My vision is fine in that eye except very very nearsighted. Please wear a hat, as others have suggested! It somehow helps prevent or delay the cataracts! Also, sunscreen. It’s better to have an ounce of prevention. Take care!!!

don't worry about Paul's cataract. I I got one after a detached retina. After a new lens was fitted, your sight will become clearer and colours will seem more vivid. The down side is there will be a good chance your other eye will 'come out in sympathy' so a year later expect another operation!

Same Graham. I have had lens replacement which is the same op. It was amazing how quickly I could see afterwards. I do hope he doesn’t go through what he has been through with his other eye. Fingers crossed. Have a great weekend ♥️

Hi guys. Re Paul’s cataracts they are brought on by the laser fixing the retina back on. The worse the damage the quicker the cataract develops. I never got my vision back properly in my eye until they put a new lens in. If you have it done you may notice that you see more blue in the right eye. On the plus side my eyesight has never been better. Love all your vlogs and the skill you put into editing. Take care ☮️

Eyes, hiya Paul, I had a detaches retina too which they thankfully sorted, but they said I would need a cataract done in a year or twos time, and true enough this was done now it's my best eye, things are so bright and clear, very happy with it. All the best. 😊

Thanks for the lovely tour of York. Looks amazing. A word about cataracts: my partner is a visual artist and had cataracts in both eyes about 25 years ago. She had both eyes done and, as you can imagine, it had an enormously positive impact on her work. Besides regaining clarity of line and colour she had the additional benefit of not having to wear glasses! (I'm deeply envious...). Thanks again for sharing another great video guys. Cheers

Wonderful vlog enjoyed it very much Love abit of travel. Not to worry about the cataract, I had both eyes done within a two week period. Each operation took about seven minutes. The foggy vision only lasted a few hours after. Now no glasses and can see so much brighter and clear.

I’m an advanced practitioner who administers the local anaesthesia - sub tenons block for cataract surgery. So hope your cataract surgery goes well. It wont take as long as your vitrectomy surgery. We have a surgeon who can do a cataract in 10minutes, but generally they take around 30minutes. Good luck 😊

Wow, I remember that post office and the spa well. I have a brother that lives on Park Hey Drive which is directly behind the Spar. There is a walk through to the left as you look at the store front. As you walk through the houses that face you, he's the 3rd one down from the top. I heard he got divorced. His ex is a certain woman called Michelle.
