It's just bad strategy on the parts of the other players to keep teaming down blue, while another player accumulates twice their score. What's greens plan after blue is dead? T90 said it: resign. He wasn't even rebooming, just slinging people who killed blue (he tried sniping grey at the end, but only after grey dared to attack someone other than blue) Yellow would have never teamed with blue, if grey didn't backstab him, even though yellow is right next to oranges main eco and therefor the first to die after blue. And last but not least grey just decided to backstab yellow for no good reason whatsoever. Yellow sat on around 16k score at the time, grey at 22k, orange at 33k. Why tf snipe someone weaker than you, that you could easily beat in an actual fight, when you could try and go for a stronger player than yourself (either orange or blue if blue weren't already enemied by everyone alive). After Hera died, nobody other than orange and blue played to win. That's the only reason orange had a chance

Hera is dying, and Oba has the point lead by 4,000. Assuming the kill count is correct, 348 kills to this point. A large portion of the armies of Hera (his main enemy to this point) was paladins, so let's say that we can estimate the military score is going to be 348 paladin kills, plus or minus a few thousand points. Since military score is 20% of everything you kill, each paladin is worth 27 points, times 348, which is 9396 points total. Plus or minus a few thousand, with a smaller lower variation, assuming that Obadiah was probably killing more high value things than low, that's a range of anywhere from 7,000-13,000 military score. And, yeah, that is a substantial amount of his 24,000, but now let's look a everything else. He's sitting on about 55k resources, which is 5500 points in itself (economy score is 10% present resources and tributes sent and 20% the resource cost of all standing units and buildings aside from castles and wonders). He has 5 castles, which is 650 points (and is society score, which is 20% of the cost of castles and wonders built). He has a population of 198, with 93 military. Assuming his military is half-and-half pikemen and cav archers, that is an average of 16 points per unit for a total of 1,488 points from his standing army. He has 1 trade unit, so let's assume he has 1 trade cart and 103 villagers. Villagers are worth 10 points, trade carts are worth 30, so that's an econ unit point value of 1060. Now for his buildings. Let's say he has 3 TC's (he's doing alright, and 3 is a common amount), 40 houses (he isn't housed), 12 military production buildings (I see at least 9 on screen at 41:40), 1 market, and no upgrade or gathering buildings at all aside from his TC, military production buildings, and his market. Each TC is worth 75 points, for 225 points, each house is worth 5, for 200 points, each military production is worth 35 for 420 points, and his market is also worth 35 points for a building score of 880 outside of standing resource gathering buildings and upgrade buildings (which are worth points, btw). This would bring his economy score itself to at least 8,928, which is only around 400 points short of killing 348 paladins, and 61% of that 8928 is from his standing resource count. With the 650 points from his society score (his 5 castles), his combined econ./society score is 9,578/24361, which makes the high estimate of military score of 13,000 extremely unlikely considering technology score would be pretty high in itself at the imperial age. It's likely his econ./society score, at 9,578 is equal to, if not greater than, his military score. At the end of the game, btw, he was sitting on about 107k resources, which is 10,700 points alone. 10,700/56,000 in a conquest heavy game is nothing to scoff at, considering that's almost 50% of his last opponent's score, and is nothing but resources that were not used throughout the game. Did you ever hear the tragedy of T90 the Caster? I thought not. It's not a story the pros would tell you. It's an AoE legend. T90 was a caster of AoE, so powerful and so wise he could use the farms to influence the games to create wins... He had such a knowledge of the farms that he could even keep the ones he cared about from expiring. "He could actually save farms from expiration?" The bad placement of the farms is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. "What happened to him?" He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his stream everything he knew, then his stream let his farms expire in his sleep. (smiles) T90 never saw it coming. It's ironic he could save others' farms from expiring but not his own. "Is it possible to learn this power?" Not from a viewer.

everyone: we gotta keep blue coffee down - there is a 1 in 10 chance he might re-boom and win meanwhile orange: booming like crazy ....yeah. solid strategy guys. Even if you had managed to get blue coffee you basically gave away the ability to win the game at the halfway point.

the thing is Bluecoffee forced everyone to play a different game, he won a lot of game because no body had expected that kind of manipulate ...yet. Once other understand what kind of game he is playing then every one will play accordingly. This match was so out of norm that everything was to be expected.

The kind of player he is, you don't have to target him, you just have to not help him. Ignoring the actual strongest player, especially after someone's main base is destroyed, for literally 80% of the game, makes NO sense in ANY way unless you're personally out for someone's head. Which isn't playing to win, and in Blue Coffee's own words "they're not playing the game".

Actually, after watching all the blue coffee games, it really feels like a epic tale: the legend of blue coffee, who went from the underdog to the awesome legend through his skills of the word, to his descend to villainy (the "bend the knee" moment) to finally becoming defeated by Obadiah but forcing that guy to do it in a way that consumed him. I don't think anyone will surpass him in terms of storytelling.

Since I reached the age of common sense I never bother with comments on the internet, but this time I just can't resist it. I totally understand why Blue coffee is such a good diplo player - he has a great feeling of the natural flow of the game, and this is exactly what annoyed him this game - the flow was everything but natural. Yellow and orange sniping neighbours instead of creating an effective alliance to counter Hera with sheer numbers, orange being the top score player the rest of the game and nobody acting accordingly, green not shutting up just because of Blue coffee's fame and not because of the actual game situation, all that was game changing and rather annoying for a neutral fun seeking viewer. Still can't believe BC survived till the end though, and who knows what would've happened if yellow's king didn't die like that. A true legend indeed. Also gotta love the subtle and not so subtle negativity some people show towards BC, envy much? It's a fundamental flaw in many humans, envying successful people instead of respectfully learning from them. :P

The few diplo games I watched where 2 players ally from the start and just work as a team the whole game are a lot better example of something that deserves negativity, not the backstabbing, lying and manipulating the rest of the players indulge in. People say Orange was annoying, etc. but don't realise that to kill BC, one needs to focus on him until he dies, because he can rebuild and escape innumerable times and backstab until he is killed. My boat had lost power and the last storm took one of my paddles. I was lost at sea for nearly 6 month. I was on the verge of resigning myself to a slow fade out, when I came across an island. It looked as if there was man-made structures! I was ecstatic, but soon I realized it was a temporary settlement, probably a scientific expedition. For some reason, some equipment was left. I was looking around for some communication device, when I saw a laptop. It still had battery, and seemed to have a satellite connection ! My luck didn't stop there, the laptop still had battery. I booted it and there was your channel. It seemed odd to me to see that 20 year old game. I thought the equipment might have been left here for longer than I expected. nevertheless, it brought me great entertainment, and ultimately saved my life by allowing me to remain mentally stable. Unfortunately, the battery soon died and I was left to wonder... Will the next game be forest nothing ?

Hey T90, I came home to my dad banging my gf on the couch in our living room. My heart literally dropped to the floor. My dad just looked at me and said "that's life son, you will have to learn this lesson one day anyway" I said "Ok Dad" and walked back outside and waited until they finished. A long time ago, a friend of mine and I were playing Planetary Annihilation while it was still in beta. At the time, you could occasionally land in places where you could not build anything. The terrain just wouldn't allow you to build there. On one such occasion, we landed in a very bad place where we could not collect resources or build factories, dooming our commanders to be nomads, while our opponents landed in much more favorable locations that actually allowed them to build. We lost the game in the end, and there wasn't really anything we could do to salvage it, but we did everything in our power to give our opponents as hard a time killing us as possible. We dubbed this "channeling the cockroach." When you get dealt a shitty hand in an RTS, your goal is no longer to win, but to survive as long as possible. Blue coffee is truly a master at channeling the cockroach, and I love him for it.

@@jessel3621 This is not true, he should have been defending himself against the others, they should have teamed on him. Rather, orange should have been convincing them to turn on each other. Also orange did NOT commit to killing blue, he wasted time attacking buildings and saving resources. He did not want to kill blue. He wanted the others not suspicious of him.

It was pretty amazing how great the first half of this game was, and then as soon as everyone decided to team on Blue Coffee it just got worse and worse. When Orange is top score for 70% of the game and no one is doing anything against him (not even bothering to try to help BC re-boom) it's just stupid. No one was trying to win, they were all just trying to make him lose. 100% agree with BC saying at the end that this isn't how people play AoE2. This game went from an interesting and complex game of diplomacy to utter shit so fast it actually kind of made me mad. Like congrats, you beat Blue Coffee. In a 4v1 where you willfully sacrificed any chance at your own victories so you could say you did it.

Probably the worst blue coffee game because of 1) Orange was never really threatened, he just went after Blue Coffee, and 2) the weaker players killed all of their potential allies instead of banding together to kill the strongest player after Hera died which was Orange for the majority of the game.

Yeah, I fully understand why blue coffee got pissed at the end saying "this is not how aoe is played". After Hera died, everyone was mainly out to kill blue coffee and didn't play sensible strategies anymore. Had something comparable happen to me in a game of Risc once, where one player got mad that I put all my reinforcements on australia at the start of the game (had a shit start and couldn't really go for anything else). Mind you we were playing house rules, that allowed doing this. She then decided to do the same thing and suicided all of her troops into mine, decimating my army. Needless to say we were both wiped out by turn 4. It feels shitty to be locked out of playing a game (in my case for 4 hours) just because someone wanted to suicide bomb you as their main strategy.

@ByTheLight By the holy Light that is my main strat for Risk.. Build up on Australia, then conquer the entire world in one turn. But yeah, if someone tries to suicide their troops just so you can't play from Australia is bull.

@@livedandletdie It's a really fun strategy, kinda flying under the radar of inexperienced players and then rolling out through Asia. In friendly games I often try to play for South America or Africa instead though, since some players like to moan about people playing too defensively. In that case I just didn't have a leg to stand on in these continents, since I mostly drew Asian and European starting countries.

The problem is, if you don't finish somebody off they'll come back. Add this to the fact people really don't wanna be mugged by blue coffee, and you get yourself a hard question. But I think they were wrong to attack him at the start. Orange was already so much more of a threat when they popped him off and pretty much single-handedly pushed him into the pond, but the players were busy trying to get easy king snipes.

Today (8/12/2019) I played with Blue_Coffee in a Game of Thrones mapmode game and he was Renly Baratheon, I was the Twins. He rushed ~50 paladins into my castle, and asked me if I loved him. Unbeknownst to him, I had a bunch of pikemen close by and rushed them all quickly back to my base. I unallied him before he could, locked the gate from where he came from and all his paladins died as I made more pikemen to kill his men and stop his stupid "do you love me?" betrayal scenario. I am not a really good aoe2 player but after watching T90official videos, I knew what was coming next so without hesitation, I was able to withstand blue_coffee's bum rush. Still enjoy him(blue_coffee) in videos though.
