Something that I think you captured so well, is the undercurrent of pride that a person places on their profession in regards to social standing. I always find it so silly when people think their job/ career title means they are"special" or better than others in some way. What I have found is when a person's identity is caught up in what they do, they are usually pulling a lord Farquaad.

I was really confused because I thought blue collar refers to manual jobs while white collar refers to office jobs but trey is wearing the opposite
@Currentlyprocrastinating373 жыл бұрын
Blue collar *does* refer to manual labor and white collar refers to office jobs.
@mangot5893 жыл бұрын
It does. It comes from the shirts that one wears. An office worker would wear a white, collared shirt with a tie. Always white. Colors, patterns didn’t start being worn until fairly recently, not until after the 80’s. Blue and green were the color that most manual workers had in the 50’s, 60’s if they were in uniform.

Trey is wearing a blue collar, yes, but the shirt is right for now. White collar just comes from when if you had an office job, you wore a white, collared shirt with a tie. Always white. . Usually a suit jacket, too. Colored, patterned shirts only came in after the 80’s, and the jacket was pretty much ditched. Some still wear ties, but that’s usually just the big bosses now. Manual work uniforms were inevitably blue denim, or green heavy cotton. A good deal of those still are, that still have them.
