Pearson giving up a HR and getting ejected in his first Cubs appearance might be the most Nate Pearson thing ever
@KptKrunch94813 ай бұрын
I remember all the hype on this guy when the Jays broadcasters first started talking about him - iirc he was the next Roy Halliday - in his first appearance he couldn't throw a strike to save his life and if he did the hitters tore the cover off the ball - right then and there I said um, no, typical Toronto Hype machine in full swing (no pun intended) what took them so long to dump this guy?

After the Deadline, I saw someone post online about our off season needs now: -Catcher -3rd Baseman -Outfielder -Designated Hitter -Starting Pitcher -4 Relief Pitchers I’d also add that we should, if we can trade Bo, which means Short Stop is a question as well. I look forward to when we can all start to discuss all these points. Keep up the great content guys 👍

@@EvanMaddick I'm confident that they will try to get Soto first...then plan accordingly. Same as the Ohtani sweepstakes. If they do happen to sign him, it's time to go all in like we've never seen and trade away everything they just acquired in order to solidify the lineup. Perhaps even another big signing or two..(Burnes, Bregman?). Hopefully they will spend in the right situation. If they can't get that second superstar with Vlad, then I think we see the same patchwork we saw last off-season and a rebuild becomes one step closer to reality. We are in a similar spot as NY last year (except judge was extended already, Vladdy isn't) and things are potentially not as bleak as they seem.

@@eshep71 Hopefully someone has the sense to offer him that Jays extension, be it Atkins or A New GM
@eshep713 ай бұрын
@@EvanMaddick despite what anyone says, Atkins is fine. Fans are too reactionary to realize they have a good thing going here. One losing season feels like everything to a fan who never followed the team before 2015. His victories far outweigh his success and if not for Vladdy being a dud the last 2.5 seasons, we'd be universally praising him...not just me. Vlad wants more than the Jays want to offer him. Probably 10mil more. It sucks that he's doing this well now because it's been 3 years since we've seen it and it's time to make a decision. Vlad can single handedly ruin this whole thing if he gets paid and doesn't perform. But losing him in any way will also be a blow.

If they don’t sign or trade for actual stars in the off-season Vladdy will go to FA. There’s no reason for a young player of his caliber to sign an extension with the Jays if they fail to build a team around him. It’s the sad truth

I appreciate that there's plenty of criticism to be put at Atkin's door. But is it his fault that Swansen, Bo and Springer have been crap most of the season? That Romano, Manoah, and Tiedemann were injured most of the season? Or that his top hitting prospect is either a cheater or an idiot? Things that were totally beyond Ross' control played a huge role in how disappointing the season turned out to be.

Loperfido was known as a strikeout machine in the minors and in 106 AB he struck out 43 times for the Astros and he's 25. Wagner is 26, he's a slap hitting 3rd baseman with little power and is a negative fielder. Bloss was an emergency call up for the Astros and is still really young. Projection for both Wagner and Loperfido is "cup of coffee"/ September call ups as a ceiling. The Astros have one of the worst Minor League systems in baseball, so a #18 prospect for Houston is likely a #30+ guy for other teams.

All for a couple of quality young players who can play defense and haven't forgotten or been coached out of hitting for average, stealin bases and driving in runs?

I see by the comments the Soto fantasy rumors are starting. The Jays could make offers but have an almost 0% chance of getting Soto. The reason is that the Jays would be a significant downgrade for Soto who could go to any team he wants. The Jays are still struggling to find themselves. They are not a competitive team and wont be for at least a couple of years. Why on earth would Soto think that would be a great landing spot? Dude has probably never heard of TBJs they are so underwhelming. If Soto was offered a Billion dollars i'm sure he still wouldn't go to TO. It just doesn't make sense.
