Bass player Peter Hook has a very unique style of playing. He was in another band during the 90s when New Order took a break from working together, that are worth checking out. The band are called Monaco, and one of their best known songs is called What Do You Want From Me?, and Peter’s bass playing very noticeable, and the singer in Monaco does have a similar voice to Barnard Sumner of New Order

The coloured circles reminds me of those kaleidoscopes we had when we were kids! Definitely a disco type sound... not my favourite kind of music but I enjoyed bopping along with you Sue!

After all these years I still have my 12” single of this , bought at the time and in its iconic black cover. The fact that New Order rose from the ashes of Joy Division is such and inspiring story Released on Factory Records which was founded by Anthony H Wilson Earlier this week i mentioned Ode to St. Anthony it has a New Order sample and they All appear in the video . They loved Anthony

You should watch a documentary about making of this Sue, it all stems from the suicide of their lead singer from their previous band Joy Division. They were using sequencers and synths for the fist time and had no idea what they were doing. The graphics you see in the video were based on floppy disk where info was kept for the synths etc...

This song definitely got a massive workout on both alternative radio and mainstream radio, to the point of serious overexposure .. I do like it, but could never really listen too often to the various longer versions of it .. They would probably be fine for dance clubs, but to just listen to it only, I found the shorter edits more impactful and enjoyable.

@wayne_twentyfive Hey Wayne, I get that. Overexposure can really ruin some songs for me too. This one never bothered me but some, I still can't listen to even decades later. Heads up, I have a theme week starting tomorrow. I mentioned I might do it a couple of months ago. Do you remember what it was haha 🤪🥰
