You listen to this song in the mountains with a Walkman speaker in one ear. Sometimes you stop and listen to the sunset on the edge of a cliff. Location? The mountains of Türkiye.

Great song! Played it a lot that year 1991, did my military service that year as well. So lots of memories pop up. I have seen them live a fre times, the best show was the first I saw, 1989 the Wild tour I play them often still in my car, and remember my youth and how different time it was in 80’-90’s Miss that era sometimes

Hi Sue .. Not bad .. Can't remember hearing it before, but it didn't chart in Australia so that's possibly why .. The song of Erasure's that I really like a lot is "Oh L'amour", which made No.13 here .. Great tune ! .. BTW - "Love To Hate You" totally rips off the strings instrumental break from "I Will Survive" .. I hope Bell and Clarke gave some compensation to the writers of that song.

@wayne_twentyfive Hey Wayne, I am happy to hear that you heard it too. I checked and it says it was written by Bell and Clark so no credit to the writers if I will Survive but if we can hear it so obviously, you would think there would have been some legal action but I don't know if there was. But catchy song none the less and yes I love Oh L'amour is a fun one. They have lots of cool songs 🥰💜

@@playitagainsue I have heard, Sue, that the publicly shown writing credits assigned to a song can be different to what is actually legally and financially attributable .. So the main songwriter/s might be the ones showing on the record / CD / etc, but other people who contributed to the writing or arrangement in some way can be included in the complete list of who the royalties go to and what percentage they are to be given .. I would think that in the case of "Love To Hate You", some share of the royalties should go to the writers of "I Will Survive", even though the publicly shown writers are only Bell and Clarke .. Just because it was a re-recording done by Erasure and not an actual sample of the strings break from IWS that was used, it is still taking somebody else's intellectual property and releasing it as your own.
